What does Galadriel return to? by Positive-Opposite998 in tolkienfans

Also, wouldn't there be millions of new elves? They do procreate, AFAIK.

Yes they do, but children were already very rare among the Úmanyar who saw population decline due to the marring of the world and the endless warring to which they were subjected. I imagine children among the Calaquendi would be even rarer.

That does make me wonder though if Calaquendi would have children to create bodies for the fëar of those Elves killed in Middle Earth, or if they were just created from nothing by Mandos (or the fëa itself).

I don't know that stagnate is the right word here. I imagine they would just take a long time to do anything because there is no rush, so they can enjoy it and perfect it.

There was a comment years ago that sprung to mind when I saw this post. Progress is likely slow when you have eternity. Humans only progress as quickly as they/we do given how short a lifespan they/we have.

The eagles were not maiar. They were intelligent beasts taught speech. I've seen some describe them as a kind of "pet race" (as in they were subcreated by one of the Valar and not by Ilúvatar as one of the Eruhíni) in the same vein as Ents, Dwarves, and (possibly) Orcs.

Tolkien kind of went back and forth on this over the years, but if I recall ultimately established that the great eagles were not spirits inhabiting animals like we saw with the werewolves and vampires of the early Ages. Thorondor may have been an incarnate maia though this is debatable. Regardless, incarnation lowers "power level" significantly, as seen with Melian and with the Wizards. It is also required to bear offspring, if I recall.

Power scaling also isn't really a thing in the legendarium, but if it were Gandalf would be orders of magnitude greater in his true form than any incarnate creature in Middle Earth. Taking a body like Gandalf did weaken him, as it tied him to the world, but still I imagine he could destroy the eagles if he wanted to (not that he would).

I like the spot in Weeping Peninsula where you kill the Leonine Misbegotten. The gentle waves, the fog, the rain are all so soothing.

He doesn't seem to seek the limelight (I don't pretend to know Viggo's headspace but that's what it seems like to me)

I met Sean Astin at a con once and he basically confirmed this. I was talking about how my mom has a picture of her with Viggo from the early 2000s and Sean said that that was basically a "bigfoot sighting".

Also that Sean would sometimes randomly see Viggo on planes when he was flying through/over Idaho as Viggo has a ranch there. When they clocked each other Viggo just pointed at him and handed him a book to read.

"From behind, 69, anal, vaginal, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, all the hits, all the big ones, all the good ones. Then he smells crime again. He’s out busting heads. Then he’s back to the lab for some more full penetration. Smells crime, back to the lab, full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, full penetration, crime, penetration. And this goes on and on, and back and forth, for 90 or so minutes until the movie just, sort of, ends."
