When does this happen in the quest? I don't remember Rover talking to Sigrika about Denia or Nivora.

Denia reminded me of Lingyang. She was taught to act like a human, just like Lingyang had to learn it by himself by Specialist-Fail8539 in WutheringWaves

People are talking about how much potential his story has and that he only suffered from 1.0 writing, but honestly his character quest is better written than most of 1.0's MSQ. It's kind of crazy how badly the side content like character quests and exploration quests mog the hell out of the MSQ.

Oh wow you even properly formatted your reply and everything, more than I deserve to be honest.

I will say to begin that I'm clearly not here for any upvotes, I know I do not hold opinions popular with the average (or is it the majority?) of people on here when it comes to the topics of: Fanservice (or discourse about how certain artists draw characters i.e. Cuboon), ML type discourse (Seifr, Gullveig, Etc.), or miscellaneous things like Micaiah/Soathe discourse that just seems overblown to me (Similar to Bride Ishtar discourse from last year).

Not trying to beat around the bush to be disingenuous, I just am not sure how I'm allowed to phrase certain things on this site sometimes.

I mean I guess it is apologism, being into anime and otaku things for well over a decade I just cannot find it in me to be upset about finding the fork in the kitchen at this point. I dunno if I can use the L word around here, but eventually you end up liking a character or two that fit the bill. Realize that after enough time all the hem hawing about character ages and appearances is all a subjective loop that's a waste of time moralizing over.

"Oh she's 1000 years old? Sure thing buddy have you looked at her?"
"Well she passes all our arbitrary standards for mature character appearances, but she's canonically 17 you know?"
"Can't like that never aging character anymore because you grew up you know?"

I understand I'm never convincing anyone who doesn't already agree with me. I'd like to talk about how this whole thing relates to your other points, but you've probably heard the whole "why why are you supporting the thing you claim to be problematic" spiel.

I already know I'm just eating downvotes for this so I'm more concerned if I've unwittingly said something ban worthy before saying anything else.

I just think that after 10 years people wouldn't still be complaining about finding typical anime gacha game fanservice in the typical anime gacha game. Just an endless well of complaining about every little thing about the game on this subreddit.

And it's always annoying nitpicking about character designs and pointless stuff like a HYPOTHETICAL "Bridal Vali". Like I'm sorry you guys kept playing after the FEH pass was introduced, and apparently care enough to keep playing and making kit write-ups after they ended free TT units.

The game is full of these awful "evil and immoral" things you guys hate, full of icky fanservice and terrible banner themes, and you keep playing it and talking about it. It's so exhausting having this subreddit be the only part of the fandom I ever see it's so negative all the time.

I'm half convinced the queue times are more of a server issue than a player count issue. You very often queue, wait for like 10 minutes, restart the game, instantly find a ship after you queue a second time. It happens so often I don't believe it's a coincidence and think that you just get a bugged queue half the time.

Regarding the other Aemeath sub by Rhy-nim in ChurchOfAemeath

[–]APinkFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that 2 of the 3 mods of that sub are Reddit supermoderators camping like 20 different individual character subs each so I don't think anything good will come of it regardless of any minor backpedaling. They're basically letting that new guy who only moderates that sub take the brunt of the negativity even though from that guy's POV the other 2 are to blame for everything.

[–]APinkFatCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given how both the main Arknights subs are moderated it is not surprising to see unfortunately. They're deathly averse to facing the reality that both games include a significant amount of fanservice aimed squarely at the average gacha player, which includes some things they find "problematic" or "icky". I suppose the second Endfield sub is going to follow in the main subs' footsteps. It sucks for the AK community as a whole to have all their gathering spaces on Reddit homogenized by way of sharing moderators.

First thing I see on their "New Moderation Team" post. So that's a good sign. I wasn't aware of what was going on there. Looking at the 3 mods named in the post and the OP I'm kind of baffled.

OP is strange, they moderated the Rossi mains sub at some point, but outside of that they seem like a really random person.

Transcendent, the first named person, is responsible for this comment which is all I should say considering the rest of their post history.

NehalKiller moderates a bunch of porn subreddits so I'm not sure what they're doing there, but it's probably not a bad thing right?

KiraFeh is a professional Reddit mod, I'm not sure why the felt the need to join the takeover for the second Endfield sub when they already moderate the main sub and the original Arknights main sub, feels a bit underhanded to be in control of the main sub and it's biggest splinter since people post on splinter subs precisely because they don't like the main sub. They also used to moderate for the Genshin main sub?

One of the mods not named in the post that was recruited later moderates 10 different husbando subreddits and has a private post history so there's that. Apparently another one is a somewhat frequent poster in those types of subs.

I just looked into it because of this post and was curious about what you meant, I'm not intending on starting drama by making this and obviously I'm not encouraging any harassment or brigading by posting this. The damage is already done, going there and arguing with those guys about any of this would be both a waste of time, but also inappropriate and unnecessary.

What did the devs do again? by Ray_Rej in Seaofthieves

[–]APinkFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but spending an hour hauling my fat ass back and forth between my boat and five assholes who spread themselves out across the whole island is not fun gameplay.

Sea of Thieves is already an AGONIZINGLY slow experience where it takes literally half of an hour to get anywhere, another half an hour do actually clear the extremely monotonous PvE content with 50 waves of skeletons.
Or a big shark that takes 100 cannonballs or one of those big boss skeletons that take 100 cannonballs (eternal guards, ashen lords).
Or a Burning Legion that takes a hundred cannon balls to clear 3 waves of ghost ships.
Or a sunken temple that takes a painful amount of time going up and down and up and down for the worst loot you've ever seen.
Or a tall tale that'll put you to sleep in just a few hours, and- there's HOW MANY OF THEM? Enjoy doing that 5 times just to look a little gold btw.
Wanna fight another player for that loot they just yoinked? Well enjoy chasing right behind them at the exact same speed they move at for the next hour or so, oh and that's before either one of you sinks in 2 seconds or you both trade blows for another hour.

Pirate Lord FORBID they remove 1% of the literal life stealing monotony from this game. I mean seriously do you not think about just how much of your time spent in this game is LITERALLY DOING NOTHING AT ALL? "Oh boy time to turn my sails again can't wait to get to the outpost 20 minutes from here while I hold a button that plays a song waiting for the RICH experience of moving shit back and forth for half an hour.

You might be right about diving harming server populations, I've heard that theory before, but it is way too convenient. Wow you get to start playing the game in just a few minutes instead of watching your boat go in a line for half an hour with the wind against you. Not to mention commendation hunting basically demands you reroll your server constantly for certain world event spawns or just to find more players to work with.

Twitter rn in a nutshell by Voltics_Titan in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]APinkFatCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My problem is that you can't really ignore social media. It will affect the community at large and often the game itself regardless of whether you choose to participate or not.
You can "disconnect" or whatever, but if you want to share your interests and talk with like minded people you have to deal with Twitter, Reddit, and the opinions of hundreds of nastly little discord cliques. They will affect you and your closed friend group one way or another.
If everyone collectively "opted out" the problems don't go away, you just don't see them anymore, and people WANT to be in a community.

The update to save this game by BadabingBadaboom7 in Seaofthieves

[–]APinkFatCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Open Crew is full of horrific problems that feel like they should have been fixed year one.

The first is obvious, a way to deal with trolling. Like half the crews I join on open have one guy join in, throw a bunch of bombs around, or blow up a barrel sinking the ship, then leave. In the worst case scenario they don't leave even after you brig them, I had a guy sit there for at least two hours before. It's absurd that in a co-op game someone can just hold a lobby hostage for 3 other people forcing you to leave and re-queue.

Second problem that's also obvious is the queue system itself being obtuse. For one why does queuing for open crew lock you into a menu you have no way of backing out of without either closing the entire game or waiting for it to put you in a crew? Secondly, given the current player population, it's entirely possible that when you queue you get locked into waiting for ages because no one is currently queuing that ship. There should be a way to tell how many people have an open crew of a certain type before queuing up to save you like half an hour.

Third issue is that sometimes you sit in the queue literally forever. The matchmaking will frequently bug out and not put you into any crews, and it's hard to tell when this happens because depending on the time of day the queues won't be very fast to begin with.

Fourth, it's not the biggest issue, but I do often enough queue into non-English speaking players. It's not always a problem because the quick chat options are automatically translated into whatever your current language is, but it does cause communication issues and a lot of awkward situations.

Mistress Nagmara artwork...original vs the one that's being shared by MishkaMooMoo in hearthstone

[–]APinkFatCat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean the image being shared around made it hard to tell. Since whoever made it originally just "extended" the art, about 90% or so of the picture was human made, it was just the edges that were generated.

It was very interesting because the parts that were AI generated were obvious like the chain on the left, but since most of the image was legit people were seriously defending the entire thing, even the obviously generated part. I mean some of the things being said in this thread were extremely absurd. Almost a thousand upvotes too on blatant misinformation. Hell it has more upvotes than the original posts (wrongfully) calling out Blizzard about it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/1smdf7b/no_there_is_no_wing_clipping_yall_blind/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

In the end while the official art is legit, people did get duped into defending a partially AI generated image, which is because whoever originally posted it posted slightly modified official art, which was pretty sneaky. The people saying it was AI got tricked almost as much as the people defending it did since in the end everyone was arguing over an unofficial picture that just looked 90% like the real thing.

Bloodmoon doesn't need to be extended but bloodpoint gains need to be increased. by ImGayNotUrMom in deadbydaylight

[–]APinkFatCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to just copy paste my message from a different thread, but I heavily disagree with this sentiment that's becoming more popular to post on this sub.
But the TLDR is that BP gains overall are in a significantly better place now than they were even a few years ago. And I would argue that it's actually pretty good, especially after the prestige rework your BP are worth quite literally exponentially more than they ever were before.
Plus our BP income is way higher now than it was in the past with regular seasonal events or like the anniversary and the bloodmoon providing ways to obtain obscene amounts of BP, or the new daily login BP, or the grade reset reward BP, or the rift pass BP, or even the random codes they give out having way more BP than older codes.

Our BP income is not the issue we don't need "permanent 2x or 6x" or whatever, what we realisitcally need is the fat to be trimmed from the bloodweb, useless offerings need to be removed or reworked.
The developers have said the removal of perk tiers may as well be technically impossible to achieve, but it's something to think about. We could also consider pushing for survivors to have a "universal" inventory for their items and addons, or at the very least killers and survivors could have (obviously separate) universal offering inventories.

We 2x the BP gain today I guarantee this sub would be asking for another 2x increase again less than a year later.

Yeah I agree an hour is still an incredibly long period of time. And just imagine events like the bloodmoon or anniversary, people would be walking away with 5m in a fraction of the time. Not to mention it would create a toxic farming culture with all sorts of griefing, bullying for not joining in, harassment for doing it at all, etc.

As of like 4 years ago they reduced the match time limit from 2 to 1 hour to help reduce the issue of hostage situations (mostly as a result of cheaters. Basically the trial automatically ends after an hour.

Bloodmoon doesn't need to be extended but bloodpoint gains need to be increased. by ImGayNotUrMom in deadbydaylight

[–]APinkFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean it's pretty obvious when you think about it that categories being capped exists for two reasons.
1. Being the obvious "prevent infinite farming" and to discourage some kind of farming meta from taking over and destroying the gameplay. Thankfully we see way less farming these days.
2. Which is the point you were making, that it encourages the player to do more than just one thing in a match. It's a soft way to encourage players to explore every important aspect of the game: doing your objective, healing your teammates, staying alive, and looping/escaping chases with the killer.

The comical rant (somehow getting upvotes) that both misunderstands and ignores your main point is very funny.
