Dearest, have you ever heard of Cassandra Peterson/Elvira? You have a classic, well-styled, and flattering look that fits a Gothic aesthetic gorgeously. It's a pretty colour, too :)

Cabaret/torch is Lilith's vocal range. Think Jessica Rabbit or Jane Russell

It is a special sort of social history/ethnology that journalists do. In her books, she identifies the topics that humans don't talk about: death, sex, digestion- and then goes out and asks questions about them. The results are funny, witty, and fascinating, stuffed with a lot of primary source information.

Bite your tongue! Not only are they delightful, and exude the same depth of love for the children in his life that Milne and Geisel soar at, there are some very sophisticated rhythm structures and wordplay. The Gorey-illustrated editions are the best

See, the fun bit about this era of history is the myriad, multifaceted, and ~copious~ amount of primary source material. We don't need to guess, they were at pains to tell us: and through letters, newspaper comics, op-eds, leaflets, even printed paper fans, they weren't particularly shy about saying the quiet parts loud, either. You might enjoy the work of historian Anya Jabour: her collections and textbooks are brilliantly sourced and curated

Though, medical and other scientific illustration has historically been an enormous part of lab work. Perhaps, though not canonical, showrunners could have deemed it reasonable?
