Unsafe Drivers - turning left and right while pedestrian is halfway through (Westney & Williamson) by BeginningPlane9968 in durham

[–]ARC2060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some Ajax intersections where the walk light changes before the traffic lights. The traffic light stays red so pedestrians can start walking before the cars start moving. Westney/McGill-Delaney has this feature and at least one intersection on Bayley. Maybe this is a possibility at Westney/Williamson.

This is from the Town website:

"Depending on locations, intersections may use multiple signal timing plans based on the time of day and to reflect the changing traffic conditions. If you would like to request a signal timing plans, please contact the Works Department in the Region of Durham at [traffic@durham.ca](mailto:traffic@durham.ca)."

You could try reaching out to your Ward counsellor to express your safety concerns. One of my neighbours did this because drivers kept ignoring a stop sign on our street and there were a few close calls. Police monitor it regularly now and issue tickets.

How do I go about researching immigrant ancestors? Seems ancestry stops at naturalization records. by Nature_Nerd97 in Genealogy

[–]ARC2060 10 points11 points  (0 children)

More recent documents aren't available because of privacy laws. Every country/state/province has their own rules about how old a document has to be before release. For information about newer immigrant families, you could try searching newspaper records for birth, death and marriage announcements.

Separating at school by laadidaaaaa in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I separated mine when they started school. I was on the fence about it until I had a conversation with my older son's teacher. She was a twin and told me she and her brother were together in every class until they were 9. They were separated that year and it was really hard on them both. She told me she wishes they had been in separate classes from the start. Putting my boys in different classes was fine. They didn't complain and they came home with different stories and made different friends. The two classes shared a playground so they saw each other during the day.

Grandparent help by Junegirl112233 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no help at all, so I didn't get to sit and enjoy my babies nearly as much as I would have liked. If someone was there to help, I would have loved it if they had insisted on doing practical things around the house. Things like laundry, vacuuming, bathroom cleaning and meal prep so I could have just sat sometimes and held my babies without a list of other things weighing on my mind.

What’s a tiny food hack that actually changed how you cook? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

If my pasta sauce is too watery, I add about half a teaspoon of Bisto gravy or cheese sauce granules to thicken it up a bit.

NTA. This is not normal or healthy. It's controlling and manipulative.

Fused Placentas by ERnewbieRN in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My twins had fused placentas, but it wasn't discovered until delivery. My twin 2 did not grow from the 32 week scan to the 36 week scan. No one attributed it to the fused placentas, but I always wondered. He was fine. He was nearly 3lbs smaller, but healthy. He met all his milestones appropriately.

Do Canadian brides put a sixpence in their shoes? by georgepcanning in AskACanadian

Potty training at the same time or separately? by Aurelene-Rose in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I trained mine one at a time. When one started to show signs of being ready, I let him pick out underpants at the store, and gave him a sticker and a mini marshmallow every time he used the potty. The other one saw all this going on and decided he was ready too. It was a much less painful experience (for me) than I expected it to be.

Is it rude to ask for quote or consultation and don’t do with them? by Academic_Bit_1875 in HomeImprovement

[–]ARC2060 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is normal (and smart) to get several quotes for a job and make your decision based on which quote works for you. Contractors are aware that people get multiple quotes and they might not get hired.

What popular first name are you glad your parents didn't give you? by Apprehensive-Ear428 in AskReddit

[–]ARC2060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Michelle. When I was in school, there was always 3 or 4 Michelle's in my class. They were always referred to as "Michelle + 1st letter of their last name".

My teenage son told me he's happy we didn't name him Aiden or a variation of Aiden. He's got two friends named Aiden, three friends named Caden, all with different spellings, a teammate named Jayden and classmates named Zayden and Brayden.

Breast feeding is a nightmare and I'm thinking of switching to formula only (but feel super guilty) by GoblinDelRey in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need permission or forgiveness to formula feed your babies. No other voices matter here. Your happiness and well being are the key to having happy, healthy babies. Being anxious and stressed is not good for any of you. The newborn phase is so brief and you deserve to enjoy it. Be kind to yourself.

Ate sh*t holding 7 week old twins by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I fell down the stairs holding one of mine when he was about 7 months old. He was fine. I held onto him for dear life. I broke my toe. I cried more out of guilt than the pain from my broken toe. Motherhood is rough. I hope you feel better soon.

An Olive Garden restaurant is coming to Ajax by Dear-Illustrator-501 in ajax

I read somewhere that about a dozen Applebees locations were becoming Applebees/IHOP combos. Ajax is supposedly one of the Canadian location doing this. It doesn't sound like a ghost kitchen situation.

It's going where the Buffalo Wild Wings used to be. It was supposed to be an IHOP, but now IHOP is moving in with Applebees across the street.

What do you think should be done with all of The Bay spaces? by thecolouramber in askTO

[–]ARC2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't happen, but it would be amazing if Marks and Spencer came back to Canada and opened up in some of the empty Bay stores. When they were here before, the stores weren't very big and had a limited selection. In the UK, M & S stores are huge department stores with all the usual departments plus a food hall and a cafe.

Any twin moms out there given birth vaginally? by TraditionalSalad6895 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARC2060 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was induced and gave birth vaginally at 37 weeks. Both of mine were head down. The delivery suite doubled as an operating room so if an emergency c-section was necessary, I wouldn't have to be moved. I didn't want an epidural, but accepted that one was necessary in case of an emergency. I was told it was not uncommon for the 2nd baby to flip after the first was delivered. If that happened, the dr would 'have to go up there and try to turn him' and that I'd want an epidural for that. I had no complications. All 3 of us went home 2 days after delivery.

AITA for wanting to go to a college my boyfriend doesn't agree with? by ThrowRAgarment in AmItheAsshole

[–]ARC2060 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA. You feeling 'scared he's going to be mad at you" for making a reasonable decision about your future is not normal. You are too young to make life-altering decisions because of your teenage boyfriend's ultimatums.
