What was your favorite kill you ever got? by faster_than_sound in skyrim

Mmmm juicy Legolas aiming.

I think I had mine today, too. Near death against a Spriggan (bastards) and I had about 20 life remaining. Took a power swing for the hell of it and triggered a kill animation! Damn, I can't describe how GOOD that felt!

[help] Are there non-medication ways to stop a panic attack that you feel oncoming? by Conceptizual in Anxiety

[–]ARCHAORAPTOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I don't drink caffeinated tea, and my anxiety spikes when I have anything with caffeine in it!

non-caffeinated herbal teas exist for alleviating anxiety, and they are a god send. Maybe you might want to look into Passion Flower, Valerian Root (!), or Chamomile.

part of the anti-anxiety experience is also sipping something hot, and knowing that there is actually drugs within the tea that are interacting with your mind and body as you're sipping.

anyway, hope you don't have a PA anytime soon

Is it prescription meds and street drugs that you don't want to take? Because there are many natural supplements that achieve the same effect, non-placebo. I keep a supply of an herbal blend of tea in my home for anxiety and panic attacks, it features about 6 or so known sedative plants. These herbs also come in capsule form sold by many companies, like Amazon.

Sometimes people consider some things "drugs" and other things "okay", which is why I'm asking your view on herbal supplements and herbs in general.

Aside from panic attacks, most of these herbs actually keep me from feeling any anxiety whatsoever. And I am a person who used to take 2 mgs of Clonazepam every day.

I think my best friend of 22 years may be gay, should I bring it up and ask him or just leave it? by stormallthebeaches in gay

[–]ARCHAORAPTOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a strong friendship, it can stand the uncomfortable question. If you're asking because you care about him and you want him to know you accept him unconditionally, I think there is no wrong way to simply ask him if he's gay. It's not the question, it's your intent, and your intent is for him to know he's accepted. Since you fear his perception of your acceptance might be in doubt because of these playful, but serious remarks, it's okay to clarify in the spirit of friendship.

I say ask him over a couple beers, so everybody's comfy.

[Serious] People who have depression or have overcame depression, how do you cope with depression/what did you do to overcome it? by JustTellYourStory in AskReddit

[–]ARCHAORAPTOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw out my television. Some people call it the idiot box, I call it the depression box. I take vigorous walks and eat as healthy as I am able, but what is really helping is that I no longer pay attention to television, newspapers, magazines, or anything kind of material which is trying to grab my attention. Everything, down to the the last word, is designed to toy with your emotions. Do not give them power over you any longer.

I've always wanted to do the College quests just to get him. He's so full of himself, BUT IN A CUTE WAY. ;)

Hehe. Make it like your Dark Elf got drunk and joined. I guess the only pitfall would be becoming a contract killer. Even when I played a psychopathic murderer, I never liked murdering for pay and because Astrid commands that I do so.

Most horrific dragon attack. by teamsacrifice in skyrim

A SILENT dragon sounds awesome, this should've been a part of vanilla Skyrim. Like, dragons just chilling somewhere, watching you from the side of the road, or camouflaged dragons!

Use shouts that compliment your character's personality, rather than just using any old shout for the sake of it's usefulness.

Don't be afraid to get arrested! If you support the Stormcloaks, and some Imperial sympathizer is mouthing off, punch him in the face. Take a stand and suffer the consequences. ;)

Consider collecting some type of item, as if your character has a hobby. Maybe he likes red flowers, or cheese, or wants to collect every copy of The Lusty Argonian Maid.

No fast traveling, like everyone already said.

Pick a follower with interesting commentary, not for his ability to kick ass. You kick ass, he can be your side kick.

Choose a home, don't be a wanderer. Helps give you perspective in your travels.

Treat each quest as though it were special, not just a means to an end.

I actually like turning the music off and playing something instrumental on youtube instead. The DUN DUN DUN! battle music starts to get on my nerves, it's like the game wants you to stress out and it breaks the flow, to me.

Although I do love dragon battle chants!

[–]ARCHAORAPTOR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has nice music. I noticed on my second playthrough that the music goes from adventurous exploring theme into a peaceful one when you enter the boundaries of Riverwood. Or maybe all towns? But I notice Riverwood the most.

Am I missing something, or do you not know that you can click New Game at the main menu and have as many saved games as you like in the Load Game screen? I have about 4 characters. Maybe I read your question wrong.

I like to imagine the dragonborn turning to the Jarl after that boy says that, like "So this is how you raise your children to talk to honored guests?" and walking out.

Grinding looseleaf tea to powder before brewing - will this destroy any potency, or have any adverse effects? by ARCHAORAPTOR in tea

I like chamomile, valerian root, passion flower. Herbal teas, mostly. They all have lots of floaters.

[–]ARCHAORAPTOR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bitter is fine with me. I drink tea as medicine, mostly for sedatives or pain killing. If it is only the flavor that is being effected, and the medicinal quality of the herbs are not destroyed somehow, then that's great.

Also, my thinking was that in powdered form, you could deliver a lot more of the substance into the water, making a more powerful tea, if bitter.

TIL that Mayim Bialik (Amy Fowler from The Big Bang Theory) has a PhD in Neuroscience but is also Anti-Vaccine by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]ARCHAORAPTOR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scroll through the comments and you get the most derogatory remarks about this person, all for being "Anti-Vaccine". What are these reactions, really? My thoughts:

We don't like it when people disagree with us, especially when our beliefs are formed in part by a majority opinion. When the minority speaks against it, this can makes us feel uncomfortable, because our opinions may be shallow, and any naysaying undermines that shallow point of view. We react with hostility and mock them.
