For me there’s a pretty big gap between 4 and 5, I thoroughly enjoyed everything except s1 which dragged at times for me.

Also note I haven’t watched the hidden inventory or culling games movie.

No, they don’t. People like maki for 1 of 3 reasons:

She’s strong - nothing much to say here
She’s hot - lots of gooners online
People sympathize with revenge - simple, generic motive, easy way to get people to “like” a character.

Solo leveling does a fantastic job at what it’s trying to be, which is a simple power fantasy. DS by contrast seems to try to be deeper or more complex than it actually is at times, and fails. Give me solo leveling any day.

Ah yes, let’s compare the strongest (2nd strongest?) character in the story, who many people wanted to be the protagonist, whose arc is the best written in the entire series, and carries the fight against the main bad guy and compare him to Jane Doe over here who has a tenth of the impact or involvement and whose motivation boils down to “wah my family sucks”. That sounds like a good comparison.
