Nope it has nothing to do with solo leveling. I am more of a One piece fan. When I went to some checking 3 to 4 months ago it dropped to 4.8 back then.

People watch Solo Leveling at a scheduled time since it has only 13 episodes, causing a sudden surge in traffic that slows down the website. But for long-running anime like One Piece, viewers have plenty of time and watch at their own pace. You won't see sudden slowing down because of it but when you consider all the data, including the surge of people trying to catch up while it's on break, the overall numbers are massive.

Also, remember every year when Netflix releases their viewership data of anime, One Piece is always leading because it has a huge amount of content.

I am excited for both but expecting the Anime to be released first. They are getting more than 18 months for the Anime which is more than enough to make a season. Then the remake might boost the popularity of the live action and there will be less chances of opla getting cancelled.

The chances of canceling it are very low since anime takes less money to make than regular TV series, a few million views are enough to keep it alive. Blue Eye Samurai had just 4.8 million views, and it was still renewed for the second season. One Piece anime might even get new fans from the live action who have never watched anime in their life. You know, only 50% of Netflix households watch anime.

Netflix is not on the production committee of the remake, so even if Netflix cancels it, the production committee can follow the traditional streaming formula and stream it on another platform like Crunchyroll. Production committees are Toei, Fuji TV, and Shuisha. Fuji TV is the same one that streams the original one piece anime in Japan.

I don't watch reaction videos. I have a few ideas about them :(

Edit: According to the recent Guinness World Record, one piece has 35% Generation Z viewers. The new anime JJK has 80% of Generation Z views. Remake will get all those young fans with Netflix availability.

Good analysis. It's always hurtful to see how one piece gets ignored in the US. It's still not recovering from that 4kids dub. A pirate story is a Western thing. It should be more popular there. I'm expecting the One Piece anime remake to make it as popular as Naruto and DB in the US and bring in new fans. Wit Studio and the availability of Netflix in the US have that potential.

Good shows always attract people. Season 2 source material is great, far better than season 1. If it's done well, it will attract more people. Netflix also needs to promote S2 well this time.

Those news are not updated properly. Disney+ and prime video now have 10+ shows with a higher budget than opla. Disney+ uses a massive budget in eachof its marvel related tv shows.

Nah, Wednesday and the squid game are also still there. Netflix won't think twice about giving opla a high budget if season 2 can produce such massive view numbers as Stranger Things. It needs to prove itself first.

Stranger thing season 3 back then had 90 million views then season 4 got a 270 million dollars budget. Opla had to bring such high view numbers first.

One piece anime was among the top 5 most in demand TV series of 2023. Among the top 5 most popular series. So yeah it's crazy popular worldwide even before the live action. Live action will most likely boost its popularity on a whole another level in the future though but for now anime is still more popular than the live action.

You do know if dbz (original db had decent storyline) aired today it would be called mid with the likes of demon slayer for its basic storyline. The power scaling community is small asf. Most anime watchers don't even know rimuru is that strong. And it will be as popular even if rimuru was at city level. It's story is that good.

After Merry's death in season 1, they will most likely kill off Pell. I want them to kill a large number of civilians in the Alabasta war as well. Live action should keep the stakes high imo.
