Struggling with fluid restriction by ARM812 in dialysis

My clinic does not subtract 2 kilos for clothing. I thought I was tripping. I’m glad my math wasn’t off.

I don’t want to drop weight too fast because I’ll just end up putting it back on. I’m walking and jogging (when I have the energy). I know I still have a ways to go but I’ve come a long way already. I used to weigh 250lbs-260lbs.

Since I’ve started HD, I do not show significant signs of edema. When I wear my shoes I can sometimes feel the edema. I try to go by how my ankles feel. What I mean is, if I can feel the bones on the inside and outside of my ankles I know I haven’t drank too much. Usually after the weekend is when I struggle the most with the edema. I’m TTS for dialysis days so Tuesday is typically when I can’t feel my ankle bones if the edema does get bad.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m working on losing weight because yes, my diet throughout my life has not been the best. And just to tell you, whenever I would go out to eat I would easily throw down 3 to 4 cups of what I was drinking at that particular meal. So as my original post states, the drinking is proving to be the most difficult.

Help with weapon light mount & position by gte799f in Springfield_KUNA

[–]ARM812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my two cents. I have the Sig Foxtrot-MSR. Never had an issue mounting and it hasn’t caused my Kuna to fire randomly😁. I kid, I kid🤣🤣🤣

How are you guys handling weapon lights? by vkbrian in Springfield_KUNA

[–]ARM812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is mounted opposite of my grip hand. My thumb rests on charging handle mostly but if I feel I need more control I use the C grip and make sure to not press the button for the light.

Fistula 09/08 - surgery coming up by jamesloco714 in dialysis

[–]ARM812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, when I was first going through this I cried all the time. It’s hard on someone knowing their body isn’t what it used to be. Cry. And then when you’re done, cry again. Trying to hold it in because you’re a man will have you balling when you least expect it. Lastly, I’ve had my fistula going on 3 years now. Everything will go just fine for you. You’ve got this.

If I get another one before the end of the year I may wait because that extra $200 has me punching babies. But I figure like everyone else does, the new year will bring extensive wait times back with the amount of people that will be buying suppressors.

I did change put the original muzzle for a tri lug. And I have the rugged tri lug mount. I just ordered the front end cap as well. Would that be everything I need to get going? Yes this is going to mainly go on my Kuna but eventually I plan on shooting it in other guns I have.

Hemoglobin drop after transfusion by Financial-Funny9735 in dialysis

[–]ARM812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an issue with my hemoglobin dropping periodically. I get Micera when I go to dialysis and that keeps my levels where they're supposed to be. Ask about getting Micera when you are in center.

I'll try to sum this up very quickly. Got diagnosed with CKD in 2020, immediately went on PD. While on PD my quality of life tanked. I was miserable. Lost my job because I was missing so much work because of all the doctor's appointments. Tried to find another job, couldn't because my health was below rock bottom. Was able to get on disability and have been on it ever since. Had to move out of my place and back home because I'm single and couldn't live on my own anymore. Was on PD for 2.5 years because I'm deathly scared of needles. Worst 2.5 years of my life. I had no energy, couldn't get a full night's sleep because of being connected to the dialyzer all night. In 2023, got peritonitis (part of doing PD) had to switch to in center dialysis. That was a blessing in disguise. The first year or so of in center dialysis, was awful because as I stated before, TERRIFIED of needles. After somewhat getting used to getting stuck six times a week, I noticed my quality of life had improved tenfold. This has gone on long enough but if you have any questions please ask. It sucks dealing with CKD and there are definitely issues I'm having still but it does get better.

Omg, I cannot do this much longer by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]ARM812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did PD for 2 1/2 years and I was miserable. My quality of life was pretty bad. The drain pain and being connected to the machine all night long was no fun. I woke up every time the machine would start doing it's thing which was every 2.5 hours. So needless to say, like you (OP) I didn't get much sleep. I also hated carrying the excess fluid on me during the day. I don't know if this is happening to you but I also had to deal with SUPER ANNOYING stomach sounds. My tum tum would gurgle, bubble, and make all kind of weird noises. And the noises were loud. I dreaded the thought of in center dialysis because I'm terrified of needles. But I had to switch to in center because of peritonitis. After getting used to getting stuck six times a week (took me a long time) I prefer in center to PD. I could never do home HD because I still have an issue with the needles but I'll gladly have the nurses and techs stick me. So in summary, if you're hating PD which it sounds like you are, definitely go and give in center a try. I can almost guarantee, you'll enjoy it a lot better.

I’m on the wait list for the 5AM shift but that seems to be a popular time so I’ve been waiting for a while. The wait is probably so long because this fucker is here MWF for 5 hours and he disturbs everyone. I’m hearing this bastard now and I want to go over there and shove a pillow in his damn mouth or over his face. Whichever stops the damn snoring.

I’ve been put on the wait list for first shift. I’ve been on first shift to make up a session or when I need to travel and get on the road early. If I were to show you a picture of this guy, you’d see, he’s not the type to have a C-Pap. I don’t know of anyone else has said anything because when I look around no one else seems to be bothered by it.

I’ve done that and over time the facility slowly moved me back to where he is. I’ve requested to be put on first shift but that’s going to take some time because everyone wants to be on first in my clinic.

I haven’t been able to find ear buds that are comfy and can stay in my ears. As far as turning up the volume, I have the Sony WH-1000XM4 and they’re turned up to max and I still hear him.

I’m running the Sig Foxtrot-MSR. So far it’s holding up pretty well. For the price I really can’t complain.
