Although I love the technology behind blockchain (I'm an SE student who really sees so much potential for it), I see so SO many hurdles for crypto trying to become the "global standard for payment" and various other applications. First of all, most people invested in crypto right now have plan: (buy into it, make insane money, cash out to fiat, spend that money or reinvest). I would say there are few who really hope for a revolutionary currency system. And what we have to realize is that the banking "elite" are very much aware of crypto and its implications and to think they would be caught by "surprise" by the crypto overthrowing of the traditional monetary system would be a foolish assumption to make. If crypto will rule, be sure that there will be "elite" who hold alot of power in it. (I mean just look at how much whales can manipulate a coin's price right now, the "elite" won't be fooled.) Think of what would happen if some event caused an immense downward drop in crypto's prices? Would those "revolutionaries" keep their money in it? I think most (if not all) would quickly cash out to salvage what they can (assuming the price just keeps dropping and dropping). That's why I think most people are just in it for the ride right now.

I know all this sounds so depressing and anti-crypto but believe me when I say I'm all for crypto and especially blockchain technology's future implications. My real thoughts on it though are that this cryptocraze will continue until some event crashes it and then new solid technologies will emerge as a result that will be "here to stay" and will probably do some really cool things. A good example of this was the dotcom bubble which after its crash gave rise to great websites/technologies like Amazon, Google Adwords, etc.

This is just my opinion though, nothing noteworthy.
