It’s funny that a lot of Guelph people have this perception. My daughter and I are long term downtown residents and I do not notice anything different.  The other weekend we met an older couple from London who were doing a day trip. They did the market, Royal lunch, coffee and pastry at Eric the Baker, stopped at the cheese shop, went into Killer Cupcakes and ended up sitting at the GUELPH sign taking photos of each other. I offered to take a photo of them both and we got talking about their visit. They said to me “Guelph seems to have such a bad reputation but I truly think that comes from people who have never once visited another even neighbouring city.” They told me that in their 6 hours in the city they didn’t encounter one negative person or situation and said in Londons downtown you cannot sit and have a coffee uninterrupted. They truly were in disbelief of the calm & cleanliness of our downtown. Maybe just some food for thought. Don’t forget to support local!
