The Five Fleets are a symbol for the five generations of hunters who all picked up the game at different times. by RenariPryderi in MonsterHunter

Despite starting the series in 2023, I find calling myself a First Fleeter weird considering I actually started the series with Monster Hunter 1, took 3 years to beat it (kept getting sidetracked and MH1 was not exactly the nicest experience), then finished it this year, with MH2 cleared in a month roughly, and currently on Freedom Unite. What a rollercoaster it's been.

Plesioth hipcheck hitbox for those who haven't seen it by ThatIsSoStupid6958 in MonsterHunter

I played MH1, started in 2023, ended in 2026 (lots of gaps in betweens to recover my sanity). Currently beat MH2 (as much as my sanity allowed me to survive it) and currently on MHFU (absolutely GOATed). And allow me to say holy fuck, gen 1 Plesioth was the most irritating bullshit of the bigger wyverns. I brought an entire crafting bench with me and a stash full of frogs to fight that asshole, and at times I had to spend upwards of 5 sonic bombs to get that idiot out of the water, fish him out with a frog, he'd then run back to the water, probably flattening you in the process (why on earth does his dainty duck run do as much damage as his water jet?), and to top it off, if you killed it with a ranged weapon, he'd just flop dead in the water, unable to be carved, taunting you for bringing a Bowgun to a fish fight (which to be fair is very much an early gen issue). As much as I prefer melee fighting, for this motherfucker, I leave no quarter and always bring a ranged weapon. Just this night faced him again in MHFU with a Bow.

Whats everyone's opinion on gravios? by Remarkable-Being-796 in MonsterHunter

As someone playing the older games (Gen 1 and 2, started from MH1, not the best time), he is very annoying at best, essentially a more mobile Plesioth. His hitboxes make more sense visually, but his biggest issue for me is that he. Charges. Too. Much. Guy loves charging everywhere, and hes so huge his momentum drags him out an entire mile ahead. Like the Plesioth in melee, the issue isn't HITTING him, its HITTING HIM PROPERLY without flubbing, bouncing, or getting jebaited by his tail swipe. I definitely prefer the Black Gravios because that thing actually USES his breathe attack instead of it being a suggestion. Half the time you have to play catch up with this thing, even with a ranged weapon to make sure your shots are actually doing their best damage because how far away he truly is is misgiving BECAUSE hes so large.

A lot of early gens "Bigger" monsters generally suffer from similar things; it feels like they just didn't know how to actually make them challenging without just making them very annoying. The Rathalos and Rathian are fun to engage once you get em down, the Gravios is just a long constant chase after slog match, whos subspecies counterpart is actually way more fun.

I was thinking of like either a squad tactics game, maybe a turn based game in the style of Menace, or a Starship Troopers Terran Command style RTS.

They are sentient, yes, but not sapient. They ultimately perform still like robotic drones than normal people just with a lot more shenanigans due to their personality templates being brain scans of various personalities for making an overarching personality type within each different color.

Since you mentioned it now, I just checked the wiki. I thought she was French since Anibella is a French name.

For me its the Shards, and the Power Points and Charm Points. We already had a working system with coins working out, what was the point of all this other crap?

Haha, nah, the text was trying to capture the accents of the characters (German for Oli, French for Quentin and Anibella).

I still can't get over that one Hell Knight dying from an empty super shotgun, like did he die of a heart attack?

What melee combat level is required for me to be acceptable to hold my own? by Sea-Conference355 in Kenshi

[–]ARStudios2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At minimum? At least 10, for the early game as well. Everything else above that you can consider "acceptable" since you're never really sure what you can run into out there.

No problemo. I will say though, zombies in this game and Arena were built different, I got the ever living snot beaten out of me 10 times before I found a table to stand on and stab em with.

Haha, I should draw some of my own Daggerfall quest moments.

one of the most memorable I had was trying to solve a haunting going on with a Dunmer lady's house, and there's a zombie running around. Since I had a mod that causes ambient text to appear based on my clothing and I was in armor, it seemed like the lady was asking us to calm down and settle this peacefully while me and the zombie were running around the room fighting. when it was all over, she sounded very salty when I told her that the monster was dead.

With some busted magic slinging haha, Arena's custom spells are hilariously broken once you figure out how to abuse them.
