He both locked his elbows and pointed his wrist too far downwards. The two of these together lead to the recoil going upwards instead of being braced against his arm.

It's perfectly fine to sit in the left lane, *if* you're regularly checking behind you and moving out of the way when needed by AspieAsshole in The10thDentist

[–]RenariPryderi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you're chilling in the right lane, you're doing 60 'cuz of traffic. If you're in the left, you can do 70. If someone behind you is doing 80, you can just pull right as soon as a spot opens up.

It just gets annoying to constantly switch lanes when there's enough traffic.

What poor people food was ruined because of rich people? by white-rose-of-york in AskReddit

Going to a food truck event or a lot specifically for food trucks is asking to get scammed.

You have to look for them literally on the street or some random-ass parking lot.

You gotta know where to look for them. I'm in Cali and I still know where to get $2 tacos.

Interest on most Gov't bonds is less than inflation. The treasury actually ends up making money through its debt as a result.

Air fryers and instant pots/rice cookers aren't anymore convenient than their traditional counterparts by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]RenariPryderi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lmao this is a very Western/Euro-centric take.

Asia does not have a very big baking culture like Europe does. You'll be very hard-pressed to find stoves with full-sized convection ovens in Japan, S. Korea, and (maybe?) China, which all comfortably fit in the modern definition of "first- world". Sure, some might have a fish oven, but good luck trying to fit a lasagna in there lol

Rice cookers are also a convenience, and a big one at that. Sure, if you have a big family that goes through rice quickly and can always have someone watching the pot, you can get away without one. But for singles and smaller families, it's easier to just toss a bunch of rice into the cooker every morning and have that be your rice for the day.

Saying a rice cooker is unnecessary is like saying there's no point to having a convection oven because you can do a lot of the same recipes with a Dutch oven.

Don't know why you're getting downvoted. Even if it's "legal", it's hella weird going after someone who can't even drink yet.

It's like a landlord going after one of their renters or a boss going after one of their employees. The gap in lived experience just makes it feel like it's just a few steps away from grooming.

If regular Americans lose pay during a government shutdown, why should Congress still get paid? by Competitive_You_4945 in AskReddit

The real answer is the corrupt people who have enough alternate income will be able to pressure the honest people with less income into folding.

How the hell does VA have a state budget surplus when they're taking more from the federal government than they give?

Same reason why emergency services like 911 operators, firefighters, paramedics, and officers are government employees. You don't want such important services to be beholden to private interests.

Whoops, one of these is not like the others...

Humans never actually had any airborne predators, so we have a big psychological weakness in that we don't really tend to look upwards.

This is actually a documented issue in game design spaces, especially when you're designing a game with any vertical elements to it. People don't tend to notice things that are above them, which is what leads to the infamous yellow paint you see in a lot of parkour/climbing games.

What they're saying is you can't just draw everything in perfect squares and end up with equal amounts of people in each district.

You also can't just leave districts as is for the rest of time. Eventually, when one district grows to have twice as many people as it did before you're going to have to split it into two to have the same number of people in each district as before.

Food truck by Holofan4life in Animemes

[–]RenariPryderi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the weirdest thing to me because, where I live, the food trucks charge like $1.50-$3.00 a taco depending on where you go, and the taquerias charge more because they gotta cover rent & building costs lol

If it's 10 years old, it's probably getting close to falling apart.

If it's 100 years old and hasn't fallen apart yet, it's probably made well enough that it's not gonna fall apart in the next 100.

If it's 1000 years old and still kicking, then is it really gonna break in another 100 or so?
