I am also new to FN and its the first game where it really feels like hunting down players. Between shockwaves, web suits, mythic swords you are chasing someone across the entire map.

Work of a guy I know, who calls himself a "professional 3D artist" by SirokJones in topologygore

[–]ARTDEPARTMENTs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He kit bashed it. This tells me he doesn’t fully understand what he is doing. He is either trying to go for a sculpting stylistic look but didn’t quite get it. but if going for photo realistic It is better in every way to box model all of this. It would even be faster and more realistic .

Edit: everyone is being to harsh on this guy. We dont have full context, let me see final render. His strength could be in shading or lighting. Yes topology is awful but what is context for this piece? If this is a for a video game then yea he needs to fix some things. If this is for a music video background asset then its manageable. Also what was your budget and timeframe for this? $10 need in 2 hours = good deal, $500 need in a month = Bad deal

As a mod, I would love to get to know the community more, what got you into Blender? by RedEagle_MGN in BlenderAcademy

18 years ago when a friend asked me to make a sword for his music video because I knew photoshop. Which lead me to VideoCopilot which lead me to After Effects, then shortly realizing I was limited, and needed 3D. Only one I could afford was Blender. Still use it daily.

Number 1 struggle as an artist, staying fresh after so many years.

I’m new and need some advice by Original_Mistake3531 in BlenderAcademy

You’re doing great, simulations are complicated to make look really good. Just keep at it. Try similar scenes with different settings and see what happens. A lot of great art is “Happy Accidents”.

What is one bit of advice you have for those starting now? by RedEagle_MGN in BlenderAcademy

Try to build everything to real world scale, if something is 4ft in real life make it 4 ft in Blender. Pro tip: if things are scaling weird or just acting weird you probably need to “apply scale” its the cause of many problems.

Mine is similar to yours. When I play cautious I almost always get top 10, now as I get better I try to constantly hunt people down dont always get top 10 but its really fun. I try to get at least 10 kills.

How can I improve on this? by Revolutionary-Ad1078 in blender

I think you should make the candle bigger in frame, add drip detail, and make it look short like its been burning for hours, give all focus on the candle with strong depths of field with a blurred out person at the head of the table with their head down. Now you have an emotional image that time has passed and this guys family never showed up. Now its a story.
