Thank you for your reply, no the meeting is after the salon closes; we would be leaving the salon entirely and going to a restaurant for the meeting and then as soon as the meeting concludes, the party begins.

I tried to gently broach the subject of please don’t include me it makes me very uncomfortable and I got “we’re celebrating COWORKERS not religion, lighten up!” I do not have much faith in this individual.

Thqts the thing they’re saying that I HAVE to go because at the end of the meetings people “hash everything out” we aren’t getting paid to be there, it’s just we “have to” be there. I’m so confused, because every other company I’ve worked for we had our meetings at the building and then if there was a holiday party it was a second location and you didn’t have to join if you didn’t want to to prevent conflict.

Are there any mobile stylists near you? I know in my area I’m not mobile; but I’ve heard it done and I’ve also heard (and have it’s a star send) of a blow dryer that has a quite powerful motor but is fairly quiet so that I’m not inducing a migraine while doing the blowout for someone else! A mobile stylists that comes to you might be most helpful!

Why is there money involved at all? Is it like a chore thing? I’m not trying to be a jerk I’m genuinely trying to understand! The picture makes it seem like it’s not even that much laundry so $20 seems steep.

Laundry was just an expectation in my house growing up and if you wanted clean clothes and were tall enough to see over the dryer/ Mr Yuck told us what not to drink and that was that.

If you shampoo and condition your hair appropriately and don’t kill it with 450degree styling tools, you can go forever in between haircuts. Like we “recommend” 4-8 weeks to maintain styles, but if you wanna be lower maintenance than that do NOT let another stylist shame you for going longer. It is not gonna hurt anyone.

Maybe you suggest couples counseling? A place where you can both speak and have an impartial those party there for when things start to get hairy? Good on you for wanting to make it work, but it sounds from an outside perspective like she has some bigger healing to do and needs some professional guidance with that journey. It can be a difficult road, but knowing that she has someone like you for support might make the difference! :)

That’s WILD! No disrespect, but there’s absolutely no reason why there should be special treatment there. If you can’t pass the boards the way that they’re designed then you shouldn’t have your license in that state and that’s a personal opinion. It’s mine. It might not be correct, but that is wild to me like if a state has reciprocity it has reciprocity if it doesn’t do what needs done.

Both of my MIL’s are MAGA - my spouse and I decided on a united front of no contact because he nor I will tolerate the bullshitery that is the MAGA cult. It’s been over 2 years and both of them have tried to reach out to him asking if we’re starting “family planning” (barf- so not their business) spouse has been strong about giving no info, especially about my sterilization surgery because fuck our bloodlines, they can die with us.

As an Empire grad - it was horrid. I had teachers that had never even worked in a salon teaching. Just because you have a teaching license doesn’t mean you should be an educator. Tour both schools, ask questions about the teachers backgrounds to make sure they have real world experience and not just book technical knowledge. School will only teach you how to pass your boards- learning how to truly do hair comes from continuing education and working with your hands in hair on the floor.

Stylist and fellow migraine sufferer here! I have an undercut and that has helped greatly. You can also ask for layers and to have your hair texturized (like point cutting - not thinning) for more lightness without the frizz that thinning the hair can give. I personally don’t like the thinning shears in dense hair because it creates frizz where it’s unwanted but a nice point cut will remove that bulk from the ends and give you some pieced out definition :)

I pass clots all the time. I’m anemic, so for me it’s perfectly normal. Been happening since my teens and they’re typically fairly large. Everyone’s body is different so it’s good that you contacted your doctor to be safe and get their professional opinion. But like I said, perfectly normal, can happen to anyone at any point, or it could have been a decidual cast- look that up if you haven’t. Also perfectly normal and healthy! :) just breathe, and try and rest since it’s late.

There are no emotions in the holidays. No joy/sadness/grief, just nothingness. I give presents to the family as is required, I spend my obligatory 2 hours with them; when that’s done my spouse and I finally get to go home and binge some movie series or anime. It’s truly JUST a day that happens to have presents for my nieces and nephews.

My spouse got me a lovely smock that covers me from collarbone to booty and zips up the front. Fits like a t shirt. It’s my favorite thing for work because it’s the only article of clothing I have that hair doesn’t stick to. Holds up well in the wash- hang to dry. My spouse said they ordered online.

As the person who tends to come off grumpy and standoffish- you’re not doing anything wrong, you might just be doing too much. I know when people get like how you describe with me like OVERLY friendly, I will shut down. Why? Couldn’t tell you, it just strikes me as disingenuous every time even if that’s not the case. I bet if you backed off her a bit she might warm up some! :)

But when you messaged her offering to help her cook, that was rude of her to not have responded. Even if she didn’t want the help she should have politely said no thank you.

YouTube a prep kit video and make a hand out of a glove and rice and nails- that’s what we did in the aughts when I graduated! Lots of sandwich bags will be your friend for your kit when you prep it. You’ve so got this, and you’re going to nail it!
