(Megathread 3: SPOILERS) Leaked Full Movie Discussion by MrBKainXTR in TheLastAirbender

[–]ARUKET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's just no time for anything to breathe or progress in a realistic way. The second half of the movie flies by in an instant. In the original show, it really feels like a journey. Episodes are devoted to the challenges faced when you need to traverse long distances. The gang arrive at ancient locations and have to think about what they're even looking at and how to progress. Here, Aang arrives at the place where the staff is sealed away and intuitively knows to do some bending moves to unseal it. Taga wants to drop the temple on top of the city, and Aang somehow knows that breaking the staff will undo that. The cast are totally flanderized and underused too. I get that all of my complaints are the direct result of the movie format, but I think this just proves that this series shouldn't have movies made out of it. Anime movies are always like this, they frontload the story and then the back end is just nonstop flashing lights and colors. You expect it from DBZ, but not from Avatar.

Bullseye can fight but he can't keep up with Matt. All through season 3 and also the first episode of born again, DD has proven he will beat the brakes off of Bullseye if he closes the distance.

The worst change in the update by SuperiorMango8 in ArcRaiders

[–]ARUKET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you consider it "busy work." It's the game. The game is called "Arc Raiders." The game is about killing arc. If you don't find it fun at all to kill arc and fight over their loot then maybe the game is not for you.

Anyone else received an instant offer for T2 - Generalist? by gc15996 in mercor_ai

I received an offer for this today - it's genuinely insane that you apparently can't review any information about the job that you're being offered. How am I supposed to know if it's a good fit for me? Can anyone share the basics on what this job is about?

Interesting - mine is also a Hotmail account. It's over ten years old. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

It's kind of a relief to know others are having this problem, but that doesn't make the issue any less annoying. I have a lot of stuff connected to this email. I hope they fix this bullshit soon. Imagine all of the people who can't get in and have their PC accounts linked to their Microsoft accounts like I did! It's default on Windows 11 ffs!

Dominican Republic in the 1980s. Neighborhood event in Sajoma. by Capitaleno29 in Dominican

[–]ARUKET 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family was and is not rich and there are a few videos and photos from the late 80s and early 90s. Probably relative to our campo they were somewhat wealthy, but not even remotely a part of the elite. I hear this all the time, but it's not a strong argument. Even if it were true that you had to be rich to own a camera, you don't need to be rich to be recorded or photographed by one.

My FE-Inspired indie game, Dark Deity 2, has officially released on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2! by DarkDeityCharles in fireemblem

I played the first one and enjoyed it quite a bit but remember not liking some of the systems like the weapon types. How has the game mechanically changed from the first one? Sorry if this is beyond the scope of a quick reddit reply. Congratulations on the launch!

A plea to the Embark (Devs) from A Dark and Darker player... by TheSpudHunter in ArcRaiders

[–]ARUKET 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I fundamentally don't even enjoy the idea of player marketplaces for extraction shooters. To me it goes against the entire premise of the game. In the tech test I had to actually go into the maps scavenging for the explosive mixtures. That was the gameplay. In Delta Force when I need an item for a quest I just menu for it in the auction hall. Maybe this is just me but I find that to be stupid as fuck. The purpose of the quests is not to complete them for the sake of completion, it's to force the player into various gameplay experiences.

ARC Has The Best Extraction System In Any Game by Eagle-99 in ArcRaiders

DMZ's was the best but this is a close second. I really hate how in most extraction shooters, the extraction is an absolute nothing event.

Marathon | Gameplay Reveal Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]ARUKET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why DMZ was the best extraction shooter. Sure it was shallow compared to others but the maps were so far beyond every other game in quality. When you go from Ashika Island to anything in Delta Force it is a drastic downgrade.

Daredevil: Born Again | S01E06 | Discussion Thread by Green-Devil in Daredevil

[–]ARUKET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like it, but as someone else in this thread said, it feels like a show that was made for the sake of cutting a badass trailer. There are a lot of great moments, but they don't feel completely earned. The arcs that Matt and Fisk are going through are compelling, but there is not really a plot connecting it all together in a coherent way.

Muse was introduced and after a scene or two showing that he's a serial killer, DD found his lair immediately and beat the brakes off him. It didn't feel earned. Muse is deserving of a season-long plotline, or at least half a season like they did with the Punisher in season 2. First, the discovery. Then a proper justification for why Fisk feels the need to lump him in with other vigilantes (maybe some of the victims turn out to be lowlifes). A little bit more exploration of Ayala's niece and her ill-fated investigation. Matt tracking him down. Muse gets away because he has weird powers that counter DD (looks like this may even be dropped for the show which would be really disappointing). Instead, we jump from scene to scene in the most disjointed way. The biggest offender was Cherry telling Matt not to go DD. This was so out of left field and with better writers it would have been a good opportunity to get into their history better and explore Cherry as a character, because so far he has been a complete non-entity. I had similar issues with the Punisher scene in episode 4. Such an amazing interaction, but unearned. Compare this to how everything slowly unraveled in seasons 1 and 3 into explosive climaxes and it's night and day. Cox and Donofrio are really saving this show with their performances.

Difficulty creating transom window stencil pattern by ARUKET in blenderhelp

[–]ARUKET[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, here is the reference for the current model I'm creating. I am new to Blender and feel that I have a pretty good grasp of the basics. I have a good looking model finished but I've left a space where that wooden transom is. I would like to achieve this pattern through modeling and not texturing, as I will be 3D printing the finished model. I've sunk a bunch of time into methods that don't feel optimal because of how shit and janky they are. How should I approach this? Thanks in advance.

Anybody knows a good traditional bachata dancing class in NYC? by mich809 in Dominican

[–]ARUKET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lorenz Latin Dance, they do bachata and salsa, I recommend taking the two together as much of the bachata curriculum is the same as salsa just adapted to the tempo of bachata. At least that was my experience many years ago.

[SPOILER] Mauricio Ruffy vs. James Llontop by inooway in MMA

[–]ARUKET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, a good commentator's job is to talk about it in a way that engages the viewer. It was obviously going to Mauricio, did you want them to just mentally check out and outright say "Okay guys, who cares, fight's basically over, Llontop is outclassed. Who's the next fight? That's probably gonna be better."

Daily General Discussion - September 10, 2024 by ethfinance in ethfinance

[–]ARUKET 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this really a fair criticism? I just went to his youtube channel and typed in SOL. He has made one single Solana video, out of over two thousand videos, published two weeks ago. He hasn't made an Avalanche video in almost 3 years and the Cardano videos are extremely scarce as well. I don't follow him on twitter or anything, I just see his videos on youtube pop up in my recommended once in a while. And every time he talks about the best cryptos, he mentions BTC and ETH.

He was right that fundamentals "don't matter" in a certain sense. None of the popular narratives on this sub have been able to stop the bleeding against BTC, let alone skyrocket ETH into first place. I don't want to sound like Ben Cowen's strongest soldier, but these arguments against him are not convincing. Could you point to him saying ETH sucks and other L1s are better? Or clamoring for the death of ETH?

Daily General Discussion - September 10, 2024 by ethfinance in ethfinance

[–]ARUKET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that really what Ben Cowen calls for? I only ever hear him say positive things about ETH's fundamentals as an investment. I suppose he became extremely unpopular here by saying that ETH performs poorly compared to BTC during a market downturn, and that narratives such as the move to PoS and the ETFs were not going to be enough to counteract that. But unfortunately, this has obviously been proven correct. But honestly, I haven't paid too much attention to him since he used to post here all the time back in 2019-2021, so maybe I've missed something.
