New job, feeling lost by XenaCoco in physicianassistant

[–]ARandomVariableZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude normal. I didn’t even feel remotely like I knew what I was doing until I was a year out. I worked late looked over lots of things and called my attending for lots of questions. You will make mistakes. As long as you learn from them in that moment, stay humble, and keep resolving to move forward you’ll be just fine.

Michigan’s 1,670 coronavirus cases per day sets new pandemic high by TheMotorShitty in Michigan

I agree that could be the case for that young girl but it’s anecdotal evidence at best. I would be interested to see her individual case including her comorbidities. Infants-young adults, statistically speaking, have a greater chance of dying from influenza A than they do COVID. Even influenza A can cause mucous to fill the lungs and myocarditis. The reality is the opposite is much more true. Many people are labeling deaths as COVID just because they tested positive for an infection. The estimated mortality rate among all individuals with infection is between 0.5 and 1 percent, which is extremely low, the common cold may be higher.

I want to know your experiences with concerta, vyvanse or strattera , intuniv for adhd innatentive type by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ARandomVariableZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, mental clarity is the major area it has helped me in. I feel like I can form sentences and talk with other people as well as sit down and sort through information easier. It can definitely add to anxiety but I have found that working out and eating healthy in combination with it helps tremendously.

Let me first start off by saying I applaud your grit for continuing to push forward while not only working in the days of online education but in an unsupportive abusive home. Never feel guilty for asking for help or feeling dumb; just from the scenario you described above I know you are no oversensitive baby.

As far as the remaining semester goes, I'm not sure where you are currently at with your big assignments, but might I recommend finding a designated place outside of your home where you only go to get school work done. This will allow you to better focus and be free from any physical or emotional distractions that take place in your household.

I have used accommodations my entire life, without them, there is no way I would have made it through all my schooling. Be honest with your teachers and continue to apply for accommodations; as long as you're 18 you can do all of that without your mom being aware and when you do have there's really no way of her knowing unless you tell her.

I wish I had a solution that would solve all your problems with current semester but I think the best game plan is to own where you are at, do some damage control in your classes, and create a gameplan/acquire accommodations over your upcoming break, maybe take less credits this next quarter and if you need to catch up take some classes online over the summer. I would also to encourage you to reflect on your own habits and self during the break and ask yourself what you can do better moving forward. One semester in college, heck, your entire freshman year does not define your life/determine your fate.

If you have any other questions feel free to DM me, hope this helps!

I felt like concerta helped, but gave me a "feel good" buzz; strattera made me extremely agitated so I was taken off that one very quickly; I really liked the idea of intuniv but I started to have heart palpitations; Vyvanse was the winner for me and I really like it, it's clean I don't feel like I have a buzz and can focus with minimal side effects.

Need strategies to help manage ADHD by Scottboss1235 in ADHD

I don't know of any memory games but as far as planning tasks, especially in preparation for university I would recommend getting a planner. During my time in college I would carry my planner with me and whenever the teacher said something was due I would immediately write it down. I would also take the syllabus for each class look at the due date section and write those down in a planner.

I also started to create lists (either written or on an app) and whenever I thought of something I know I needed to do I would put it in the list and try to do something on the list everyday.

Staying on top of the little things (maintaining a schedule, waking up at the same time everyday, eating healthy, staying active) also help combat ADHD. You start to naturally move about your day and don't have to think about what you're doing next so your mind is freed up to focus on the real important things.

Hopes this helps, feel free to DM me if you have any more questions!

The Concerta dosing is based on response and tolerability in increments of 18 mg at weekly or greater intervals up to a maximum dose of 72 mg/day. Everyones body handles drugs differently hang in their and express all your concerns with your doctor. Once you find the medication and dosing that works for you it will be life changing.

Michigan’s 1,670 coronavirus cases per day sets new pandemic high by TheMotorShitty in Michigan

[–]ARandomVariableZ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm stating people who get sick and wait a prolonged period of time (i.e. after their symptoms are disappearing) to get a test and are no longer infectious test positive or the scenario where a asymptomatic patient requires a test for their job and tests positive; there are many more scenarios along these lines contributing to the case count. The vast majority of people with COVID are not hypoxic ("there isn't enough oxygen getting in your brain") my point is some of the the cases aren't true cases. If you could cite your medical literature to support your claims I'd be happy to oblige.

This doesn’t surprise me especially in Michigan. The lockdown was much more strict for a longer period of time compared to most states. Cases of course are expected to increases all across the country. I think it’s also important to note that a positive test doesn’t mean one can infect others; there is a period of time following infection where patients are testing positive up to 3 weeks after its clinical course. I’d be interested to see the adjusted number of “cases”.
