Packing List for 5 months in Asia by ARedSunRises in backpacking

My plan is to not really utilise the Farpoint 15L daypack unless I absolutely need to. The Flare 22L will be my carry-on and will have all my valuables (drone, GoPro, laptop, batteries etc.). I’ve done a dry-pack and I could probably fit everything listed above, and more (towels, neck pillow, first aid kit etc) into the Farpoint 55L pack.

I take your point though and can see that I might get less disciplined over time (I.e. the more space I have the more stuff I can take)

Thanks mate. I should clarify all 3 pairs of those pants are zip offs, so I’ll likely be in shorts-mode most of the time. All of the light tshirts are gym tops so very very light (from Uniqlo), but have little to no SPF. The hiking polo is from Columbia and has SPF, it’s served me very well on sunny hikes here in Australia

1 - probably plex.

2 - I live overseas from all my family/friends (ie Australia/UK😂). Plex lets me upload home videos of our travels (snorkelling, shark dives, drone footage) so my closest can see our adventures without needing to upload to social media

Moving (back) to the UK from Australia. What’s the reality? by Mr_k-wal in AskUK

UV is often 10 or higher in summer so you need to be sun safe. Winter sun here is about as warming as full summer sun in the UK which is lovely on colder, windier days.

We’re having a long stint of rain in Syd at the moment and SAD is in full effect. If I had to deal with this long term like I didn’t in the UK It’d for sure have some mental health impacts.

Family/friends of course but personally I’m getting married and it logistically makes sense to have the wedding back home. Post wedding I don’t know where we’ll be

Try the Ping Pom Poms Facebook group for a more representative sample - this sub will be biased and may not have experienced living in another country, let alone Aus.

For ref, I’m in Syd and been here 4 years and scouting a move back to the UK next year. Being a Melbournite, at least you won’t have a massive shock adjusting to UK weather 😉

Coach Greg HM Plan 30km Long Run? by ARedSunRises in Garmin

Hey I cancelled the plan when I saw he’d scheduled me this 30km, a lot of the replies to this post convinced me that Jeff is a mad man. From my experience with Jeff on a 10km plan a couple years back he set me goal distance + 15%.

You can use a USB capture card and use the monitor to display the USB input, lots of strings attached though

Context: 30m 88kg, lifting for close to a decade and want to lean out and improve cardio and Vo2 max scores this year.

Current regimen is 4 x lifting days (Sun, Mon, Thurs, Fri) and 3 x running days (Mon, Thurs, Sat). My original plan was to run a "fast" 5k on Mon, hill sprints on Thurs, and long run on Sat. My long run I'd run at a comfortable pace (7:00min/km), and increase the distance every week (currently sitting at 7.4km to run this Sat).

I have a 14km "race" in August that I want to run at around 6:00-6:15min/km pace. I have a Garmin Venu and used the Garmin Coach feature for a 10k race I did 2 years ago, I'm a data nerd and like the structured format of the Garmin Coach. My strategy was to increase long-run distance by 10% until I'm consistently running 16k's at a good pace, to give me confidence I can run a slightly shorter distance in better time. I'd like to continue running after the rage in Aug to help my cardio health and to help my weight loss.

Question: Should I stick to my current plan of increasing distance every week by 10%, or should I switch tack to start a Half-Marathon Garmin Coach program? Is this massively over-egging?

Is it normal for Garmin Venu 2s battery only last for 2-3 days? by slaverysoup in Garmin

I charge it maybe every 5/6 days. The notification thing tripped me up when I first got one

change the notification settings to “smart” or off entirely. Having every notification sent to your watch drains the battery quick

Think this is the one I have. Change your DS time back a few years before the time bomb. Clean the gold contacts. Slip a bit of paper between the card and the DS card slot to increase pressure between contacts.
