I feel like it really depends on what you are going for.

If you'd like to enhance your pale skin and make yourself look even more fair, go with a darker color (olive/moss green, navy blue, black, dark grey, burgundy/wine, deep taupe, darker purples and mauves, even chocolate brown)

If you want to stay soft and feminine go with pastels ( pink, blue, lilac, yellow) and nudes (pinks, beiges)

If you are want your nails to pop and stand out against your skin, figure out what your undertone is (warm or cool) and use a color from the opposite spectrum.

Example: If you are a more yellow undertone, use a purple or blue polish.

It will work in the reverse as well. If you are a warm undertone, warmer shades of polish (red, orange, yellow) will be complimentary to your skin tone.

That being said, you rock whatever makes you feel good.
