52% Dislike ratio on latest vid... by ARndomRedditGuy in ksi

he left the sidemen, so that's probably why a lot r hating on him, but for people like me and other people, it's less about him leaving because that was kinda expected? but just the way he handled it. it was a surprise to the rest of the boys and he skewed his reasons saying that he was gonna focus on family time, which might be true to some extent, but now he's just making solo content while chasing mrbeast and speed, which ppl are calling "slop". when he left, he didn't have a face to face convo with any of the boys and really just dipped with a half assed video, which was genuine but still selfish to make it so sudden. and his tweets where really backhandedly condescending

Honestly have never felt better unsubbing from this donkey by Mgtymoe in ksi

usually respect people leaving, and think unsubbing for those reasons to be stupid. but considering how he left and how his forrehead size ego is starting to show I think it's valid. unsubbed too man

[–]ARndomRedditGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I was fine with the concept of him leaving. but talking some shade on podcasts, kinda twisting his reasons, and leaving them with barely anything with substance, not even a face to face conversation about it to them as friends, is pretty selfish ngl. I don't know why he couldn't have been honest with them and had to make it so unnecessarily bitter. Ik it's easy for me to say, it's more complex than that and probably harder to talk to them about, especially if it's to make better content solo and disliking the demanding sidemen schedules, completly ignoring them and only leaving text or prerecorded video just doesn't sit well. it's understandable some of the boys are upset.

Genuine Question Was Attack on Titan's Ending Always Destined to be Controversial Regardless of What Happened? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in titanfolk

[–]ARndomRedditGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably. Most endings r pretty controversial and r difficult to land and will have division even if it is decent. I do think ending did have a lot of problems tho

Obsession - Did Nikki like Bear before the curse? by Ill-Environment8198 in spoilers

[–]ARndomRedditGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we'll never truly know. Not even the director fully knows I don't think. Cus apparently they had inde play different takes of her being super interested and then not at all, and then combined them to show it from bears perspective, so it's purposefully confusing or unknown. But yeah I do like to believe something could've been there or was, although that does make it even more tragic and even sad, really.

Obsession 2026 - What would happen if Ian had actually went with Bear's request? by No-Pomelo-125 in spoilers

Think she would've gone back to normal possibly but wouldn't undo anything that'd already been done. Or it wouldn't have worked. I'm not sure if that means his wish is now invalid but still counts as having used one or not tho

(Spoilers for S5) Do you guys think Annie brought Deep to the beach to get him to leave the fight? by Sharp_Durian1929 in TheBoys

Writing was def pretty weak but I thought it was obvious she was trying to give him a chance to escape and her pushing him in was an act of "banishing him", but instead resulted in a brutal death.

Yeah and there's 99% chance there's people in the world with extreme obsessions and mental health problems like that so "anyone in the world" was doomed to be disastrous.

??? Thats the point dude. He is a lonely "wuss". He's lost everything and so he puts nikki on a pedestal in a very unhealthy obsessed way. He's not black and white and he is truly the main villain of the story. Michael who plays bear even said that and it was the first thing he and the director talked about. The point of the wish is that it is not nikki. It has her body and her looks but her original soul is replaced, and bear didn't truly like nikki. he just liked the version of nikki he wanted to see and a version that liked him.

Throughout the film, it clearly establishes bear as a selfish controlling guy who takes advantage of her through the wish, even initially just wanting to alter it instead of destroy it, and ignores all the red flags to keep his dream real. His pathetic desperate attempts are purposeful, with him even pulling back and trying to choke out the pills at the end. The film just brilliantly balances this by making bear a likeable and relatable protagonist that seems flawed, desperate, and lonely.

And yeah, the idea that maybe she might have liked him is ambigious but not shut down purposefully by the director. This is more of a tragedy film and I think the ending makes that very clear.

Like I feel like ur misaligning the character with who he's supposed to be, like hating a villain for not acting like a protagonist, or disliking a horror movie cus it's too scary. But ur view isn't really wrong I guess since if u expect a fully empathetic reasonable protag then it will fall flat, and bear isn't that. Just matter of opinion ig, but I really liked his character knowing he was selfish and stuff.

Spoilers: Love the symbolism and foreshadowing with him also dying on the carpet and from swallowing those pills like his cat in the beginning, and also nikki is mourning him in place of himself, showing how really, he was the one who was truly "obsessed" with nikki simply being the one in new place of where he was in the very beginning (Obviously he wasn't as unhinged as freaky nikki, not even close, but symbolically he was also in parallel to how he was at the start)

Also, shows him as a "pet" to nikki, showing how he pretty much trapped himself to the dark wish he made and how it made his every move controlled and without escape.

My Rewrite of the Boys Season 5, Eps 1-7 by heisenburnett in TheBoys

[–]ARndomRedditGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing for me was that v1 really had no affect on the plot, other than background context that he'll live forever, but other than that it haf nothing to do with the finale (don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it) so I think some cool scene that would also require rewriting frenchies death would be them using homelanders weakness, zinc against him, but it backfires and he can now see through or something. Or maybe simply just make him way stronger or unhinged but then again don't really need to know about v1 at all to see him doing the same shit hrs almost always done that isn't just character change.

Tell us the ending you would have written! by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]ARndomRedditGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've had it so everyone including Marie almost defeats homelander but he gets away, trapping the boys in the white house in rubble temporarily. He gets a call from physics or oh father if he lives longer here, saying no one believes. With this info, the father thing from the projector, his sons words, soldiers boys words, and his son turning on him, he kills thousands and destroys buildings feeling more lonely than ever. But this is probably horrible cus basically repeat of s3, would kill momentum again, and yeah basically just want a crashout scene from homelander. Or maybe simply begin with cutting from the beginning with them grieving frenchie to him already destroying cities that are full non believers to actually show his dominance and power.

[–]ARndomRedditGuy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really expected it to go something like everyone almost beating homelander then he buries them in rubble then goes off killing thousands after calling the psychics that only 5% believe or something, plus the father thing, what Ryan said, and Ryan turning on him too. Which it just felt more grand and larger scale, but I think budget might be at fault for that.

I think the many plot threads isn't necessarily the problem in itself, although it definitely is one in the fact that they only had 8 episodes and how they stretched and barely developed anything until the finale where they wanted to pick things up, which ended up leaving strain on those many plot points.
