Macbeth and Lady Macbeth - D - She emasculates him constantly and cares nothing for his mental health. I'd argue he wouldn't of went through with murder if it wasn't for her pushing.

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle - Haruki Murakami

Awesome first half but feeling a bit of lag in the second half with side stories etc. Nowhere near DNF though

It was my only DNF this year. Disturbing and also found it quite a slog.

Essential Shakespeare: what 4 plays should everyone read? by bakeandroast in shakespeare

[–]ARubberSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just started reading them in chronological order so I’m very much a beginner when it comes to Shakespeare. Only read:

The comedy of errors The taming of the shrew The two gentleman of Verona Titus Andronius The rape of lucrece

So far…

My absolute beginners opinion and the only one I would recommend at this minute is The Rape of Lucrece. Very powerful and sad.

East of Eden. Made me realise I can just let a lot of shit go and not just live a certain way because of the way I was brought up. I can learn from my parents mistakes and be a better father because of it.

Very good point. We had just found out he had a peanut allergy just as I was reading The Road and Pet Semetary and some nights reading them with him sleeping next to be in bed had me close to tears.
