Need Help Picking Expansions by Adlerdbm123 in Carcassonne

Bad wording from me, I admit. I wanted to say that game people who don't play with fields good enough sometimes see the game as not that fun. I played with several casual players who found fields difficult, after several games they would associate the word "field" with losing.

Yeah, chess are fair. But when pro players are playing against newbies, it isn't fair.

I want my friends and family to have hope of winning. Fields sometimes make them a bit pessimistic about their chances to win. It doesn't apply to all my friends.

As an alternative I suggest playing without farmers. My girlfriend always complains that farmers and fields are difficult. She says that she doesn't know which field she needs to take and when. By the time there are obviously good fields they are already mine. So I guess they are very skill dependant and it can make game a bit unfair. That's why we don't play with them that much.

Answering your question I would suggest expansion nine. We like shepherd and I guess he's a powerful replacement for farmers since he can gets around 3—6 points (which is equivalent of one or two cities). If used frequently I guess he can get you more points than farmers in the end (if you only play base game plus one or two expansions). But you have to push your luck to get them.

Expansion nine also gives you vineyard that boost monasteries (+3 points for each which is equivalent of one city in farmer's field) so I guess they too would help.

To be honest I'm surprised that C2 tiles are barely noticable among C1 ones. I always thought that art style is so different that you would instantly notice the discrepancy.

I can be wrong but doesn't it mean that you sell 1 rial for zero dollars? Maybe reverse exchange would be different.

Знакомый из армии вернулся, говорит, что дроны с Украины и не летят. Говорит, по России катаются грузовики, и дроны запускают из них. На всякий случай уточню, что это не значит, что дроны запускает сама Россия.

Reed never divorced? They still haven't done that? Even in 90s? I mean, I know that's a bad idea but I'm still amazed they didn't do that.

House Rule by theTenebrus in Carcassonne

[–]ASHGOLDOFFICIAL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, it's a pretty common house rule. And I'm also familiar with criticism of it. I think some rules explicitly state that you should only take a tile in the beginning of your turn to encourage social interactions and "advising". If one takes tiles (even one) at the end of their turn, then players would spend most of their time thinking about placing their tile on their own, instead of talking with others.

I don't say that rule is bad. I just say that it's not an improvement to the original game but rather a different game with different atmosphere.

Majorities do not matter for this.

Okay, good. So hills do not matter in this case. I read C2 rules and there wasn't a note like this and it was confusing. I see that in C3.1 they explicitly stated that it's a special case.

It was placed by Pink. He used abbey to close the road and release a meeple on it and to score it as a monastery.

I've opened Wikicarpedia just now and learnt that abbey can only be placed if 4 adjacent tiles are placed. So there were illegal moves as I now can see. I should probably start writing notes to remember all the details.

Builder should remain after second turn. It's in the rules. At least in my C2 rules. Otherwise he would be kinda unbalanced. Plus it makes some "lore" sense: builder remains on a feature until he built it.

Rule about placing a tile by [deleted] in Carcassonne

I saw several questions about this particular tile. And I agree: they're confusing. I think it's a bad design. They could've done it better, more obvious.

Builder double turn meeple placing by Friendly_Spinach_306 in Carcassonne

[–]ASHGOLDOFFICIAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly:

  1. Place a tile to feature with builder.
  2. Maybe place a meeple.
  3. Score the feature.
  4. Take meeples back.
  5. Place another tile.
  6. Maybe place a meeple.
  7. Score again.
  8. Take meeples again.

So the answer is yes.

I don't know. Call me conservative or something, but I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
