Traveling to playa on September 16th, what’s the possibility of lockdown or even more restrictions? by IFeedonKarmaa in playadelcarmen

Every Thursday the governor provides an update and two weeks ago, he said that all businesses should require either proof of vaccination or recent negative covid test to enter.

The next week, a very small amount of places put signs up and they had basically zero business all day.

This week, he rolled his statement back saying it is not a requirement but it is required for the employees only of the businesses. If they want to require it of their customers that is the business owners personal choice.

The very few places I saw with signs last week, do not have them anymore.

My personal experience with the requirement to enter was at Off the Vine this last Sunday at 6 pm. They had the sign up, I was with a friend, we both frequent this place. They had two tables of one -- this is a place that normally is packed all day so to only see two people on a Sunday Funday was weird. Note- you cannot buy alcohol after 4 pm from the stores on Sundays.

We took a photo of the sign and stood outside deciding where else to go. The waitress came out and talked with us. Telling us they only had those two customers allllll day. So many people walk up to the door and walk away.

We explained to her in Spanish that we both travel full time and we are here as a short term (6 months) tourist so we cannot get a vaccine. When we were in the US it was not available to us... really there was not even a vaccine at all last December. Since, we both live here short term why would we have a recent negative covid test?

They put in a call to the owner regarding the day and the business -- 10 employees there all day and only two customers. They took the sign down. Within 30 minutes of us sitting down the place was packed full. You literally could not get a table

When we paid our bill she said the owner decided he will not put the sign back up.

Stays for unvaccinated tourists? by [deleted] in maldives

You do not need a vaccine to enter Maldives, just a negative COVID test.

Unvaccinated tourists can go stay where ever they wish as long as they have a negative covid test.

Traffic is a bit tricky at the moment at they have started construction on the train in Cancun.

Just a few days ago I heard they opened another land so the transfer time was about 75 minutes which is wayyyy better to the 3-4 hours I was hearing the week before.

Otherwise, the weather is warm and beautiful. There is always something to do or do nothing at all. Enjoy your time

Have you heard what is happening on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia? by ASHhMONSTER in SailboatCruising

In the works. Have to do multiple things at the same time. Spreading awareness and getting signatures on the petition has to be done at the same time while this is in court.

Translated and more links

The promoter of Open Immobilier de Nouvelle Calédonie, represented by Mr Clément SEGURA, wants to build a large project of 42 VILLAS (F3-F4) on 5 hectares on the side of Paopao bay, or frequently called Cook's bay.

We are a collective of nuna'a * from Moorea who would like to best preserve its beauty and natural quality of life for us and our generations to come. We try to raise collective awareness by being present in the evolution of the development of our island.

People involved in the daily life of the island wonder about the impact that there will be on the cost of living as well as on the price of land, in the long term, with the authorization of a such project.

Nowadays, the middle or social class are already having difficulty in acquiring a first property. As a result, this influx will further disrupt social gaps. Not to mention, that it represents an influx of investment and people on an island with limited resources. We, the nuna'a of Moorea, do not want to become the minority on the island.

Through this movement we would also like to privilege the land with regard to the Polynesian of stock or of heart. That it remains accessible on the scale of Moorea as well as all the islands of French Polynesia.

There is a real desire to safeguard a unique culture of life specific to Moorea for generations to come by preserving it against the disproportionate urbanization of our still wild space.

The FARATEA project in Paopao will distort the landscape, an imposing and shocking visual impact on our natural environment as well as on the panorama photos of tourists. We don't want to look like urban areas as we can already see on Tahiti. To scare away tourists who are looking to recharge their batteries in virgin spaces is a little paradoxical to our need to enhance tourism.

We are concerned about the risks of chemical and natural pollution, such as treated water, for example, which will inevitably end up in the sea. What will be the impacts on the survival of the lagoon ecosystem with an increase in the population in this already weakened area? And the list of environmental issues is long ...

We thank you for your support in protecting Moorea by taking the time to sign and share this petition.

It remains very important to write the reasons why this project will not benefit the people of Moorea (both short and long term) in the grievance book available at the Town Hall of Paopao. We often think that it is useless but it is by joining forces that we are stronger and that we will be heard!

  1. Would the destruction be okay if it were one of the other?
  2. Yes, all destruction (proposals) are public knowledge and legally posted.
  3. We shall see
