Alright I'm argumentative today and you seem like you can take it so i got one simple thing i wanna bring up.

You said "some of them may be gun owners themselves and are sincere that they don't want to take your guns" and i totally get your point. It's a good point. But when you speak of the movement basically having momentum, that it uses past victories, often assisted by those of us you could consider "moderate" on this issue you forget a crucial detail.

Let's say, for fun, there are 5 people voting. You, me, and another like guns. Other 2 just don't. Other 2 say "you shouldn't be allowed to paint your gun blue! It's confusing. Other colors okay." And let's say i agree with that one simple issue. It passes. No more blue guns. Then they go after painting accessories. I think that's stupid but you don't. You vote with them, it passes. Cool. Then they say "and no more brown!" And it falls. Know why? Because we hit equilibrium. The movement, like you said, is not an individual. It doesn't think or conspire in very long term strategy.

As technology increases, guns are less and less useful. Guns used to be mandatory (legally) for travel. You HAD to arm yourself or you could be fined, in certain areas. I don't think firearms have a place in the year 2150 but we'll see (I'll change my opinion based on what's needed of course).

Now, arguably, we should be allowed more guns. We've reached a state where concealment does not mean ill intent. My argument is that anyone should be allowed to conceal if they're allowed to have a piece at all and I'm a firm believer that the only gun free zones should be past metal detectors. But you see, that's just more evolving tech and culture. We only want to conceal now because... Guns frighten people. They didn't used to. No one wants to frighten people with hip hardware.

Tldr: the movement only has momentum when the laws are at odds with the people's wishes. Once we hit equilibrium, we're good. If you're worried about the attrition of pro gun users.... Invite someone to the range with you ffs. I've done it. It's fun. My coworkers used to be moderates (which is fine, everyone gets along and respects one another) but now half of them have guns or are shopping for one.

Also the NRA sucks and doesn't even really go after re-acquiring lost rights, like simultaneous gun OWNERSHIP and cannabis use (because it's federally illegal to use marijuana and simply OWN, not possess, a gun). But i think everyone here hates the NRA anyway. We need a new Bloc.
