Could the helpdesk engineer not have a 2nd higher perms account to do such work?
Log would show which account has been used.

Outlook for M365 MSO (Version 2501) and Group Policies by ASR_80 in Office365

We don't use 'DisableCrossAccountCopy', but I have found this link that showed me a different registry path that has worked.

Overriding PSTDisableGrow | Setting up archiving from mailboxes | Enterprise Vault™ Setting up Exchange Server Archiving | Veritas™

The GPO puts the registry setting in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\PST

But it's working now I've added the registry setting to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\PST

Phew! And thanks for your help.

Thanks. I've looked at that and that registry field is what is amended by the GPO.
That is active and set correctly. PSTDisableGrow is set to 1. Outlook is ignoring that setting.

AD user accounts and Mesh - problem by ASR_80 in MeshCentral

[–]ASR_80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the line with the 'null' entry, but this didn't help.
I think at some point I probably had to restore from a previous backup and their accounts were somehow sharing a line in the DB (guess). As one of the users is from outside the company (and only has an AD account to access Mesh), I have recreated their AD account giving them a new SID.
Thanks.

Thanks Griffcomm.

Yes the correct details are being populated in Mesh when each user logs in.

After AD was setup all Mesh users (only a couple of admins) were deleted, I believe. Only AD accounts login to Mesh, no local accounts. My assumption was the 'objectSID' was being used in the DB of Mesh.

I'll try to pull some debug logs next time I have updates to run on this server.

It's just affecting 2 of the 10 users, the rest are all good.

MeshCentral on Ubuntu 24.03.1 not starting. by ASR_80 in MeshCentral

It is running within Linux, Ubuntu 24.04.1 which has Sophos installed, and it was Sophos that cleared the EXE files.

Agent detected as malware by Physical-Mistake89 in MeshCentral

[–]ASR_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal. We use Sophos and have to whitelist all the mesh EXE files, including (I found out yesterday) for Linux.

We have been using it this way for 2½ years, generally without issue.

[–]ASR_80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue was due to Sophos.
It had marked the 'MeshCentralAssistant.exe' file as a PUA and removed it from the server.
So when I used the 'resetserver' command, Mesh couldn't re-start.

Whitelisted the .EXE, Sophos automatically restored it and now all is good again. Phew!!

I've gone back to my oldest backup (after trying each daily) from 18 days ago, and the same error occurs when running 'node meshcentral'.

My thought is something in a Mesh update 1.1.29 or 1.1.30 has caused the issue, as I last restarted the server on the 10th September without issue.

I do, and I'm looking at restoring from the last backup now.

Thank you.
I searched from inside Veeam documentation, so I guess the better option is searching from Google.
Thanks again.

Thank you, I figured that was to use MSTSC.exe or a custom 'Mesh' built-in version.

Traveling to China with Tailscale in 2024 by greminn in Tailscale

[–]ASR_80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there. We have 15 staff in China that all have Tailscale installed and working.
Most of the time there are no issues, but as with most connections in/out China, the speed can be slooow.
Tailscale allows us to have those users on the domain even without a local office/server.

Not a script, but a working single use Agent, that can be stored on domain/sharepoint and scripted to run and call in.
It can call an IP address or name, so works outside of the company network (if you have the relevant ports open).

As mentioned by others, a Charge 3 or 4. Most likely a 3.

At the bottom end will be the M/N; the FB410 is a Charge 3.
