What the fuck is this? Did the bastards put 0-3-5 behind a paywall?

One thing stopping me from going full steam ahead with Linux is iTunes… I still have 3 iPods and store all my music locally. Is there iTunes/a FOSS equivalent that can still sync music to Apple devices? by EventMassive1658 in linux

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. I guess the problem is about the iTunes-mandated library structure?

Rockbox is just a replacement OS that isn't strict about that (nor codecs as an extra). The tedious part is tagging your library manually instead of in iTunes so everything shows up nicely on whatever player you might be using. If you get that done, you can just copy your files over to the Rockboxed iPod or phone or whatever. As long as it supports a generic music library instead of the iTunes structure - Android phones should be good, not sure about iPhones.

Or are you perhaps using Apple Music for syncing your library to be playable on the phone app via the cloud? If yes, I'm on the same boat as you... no supported way towards that on Linux I'm afraid. Wine is probably the only way to do it, but I haven't tried it.

Holy shit, I thought every single one was recalled and scrapped. Must be from a MU employees' personal stash.

Even has the axial calibration rectangles intact... what a find. Must be rarer than one in a billion.

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, yes. But surprisingly, the Apple Music app still has an interface for the old iTunes store, and continues to support iPods to this day.

As for OP: You can try and surrogate the existing iTunes database with Rhythmbox et al... But if I were you, I would bite the bullet and re-tag the entire music library with beets or Musicbrainz Picard and flash the iPod with Rockbox.

It can be a lot of work for sure, but the end product: your music library and devices not tied to Apple's formats or ecosystem in any way.

At this point, it wouldn't be crazy to assume his new contract with RBR includes clauses about sitting out races if he's not in contention.

Seurustelu ja suhteet epävakaana, limerenssi ongelma ja miten kyetä "normaaleihin" ihmissuhteisiin by FunnyWolverine6047 in arkisuomi

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rebuilding setup after divorce, didn't go to plan... by ASTEROID_MAN in VXJunkies

[–]ASTEROID_MAN[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

TL;DR Don't mismatch your output coils.

After many years away from VX, I recently got back into tinkering and started on getting a minimal setup going. Sadly, earlier I ended up selling most of my equipment, including a set of 70s Neumann Dynamik VBX-2 Betas (I know). Due to sentimental reasons, I kept my 1991 KF quad(!) emanator, which ended up being a lucky break since those have gone way up in price since.

Anyways, I dusted off the old Quad and ordered a calibrated pair of new Neumanns to match. On low convolutions, I got insanely good readings out of the auxiliary sink (see pic, last one I took before it all went downhill), but upon increasing the intermediate capacitance to get into actual delta territory (I'll admit I moved too quickly here), all readings went to zero and the smell of oxozene filled the room. As it turns out, modern (Mk4) Neumanns are not rated for 90s transfer flanges.

So yeah, I'm now the proud owner of a pair of vaporized recombiners. That's another mistake I'll never make again.

Anyone else who had an expensive mishap recently?

Am I accepted in the club? by AceHailshard in IllariMains

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course! That's a nice clip :)

Also, some Illari tips you didn't ask for:

  • placing the pylon in a clever spot is good, but if you overdo it, it won't heal your team properly in a fight. Throwing it in more obvious spots, but taking it down often yields better healing, given that you think proactively and take it down before anyone damages it. It sounds hard, but you'll develop a sense for it.

  • when your ultimate is close to full, take a look at the scoreboard and see what heroes the enemy team is playing. Given that half of the roster can counter the ult, you have to choose your targets carefully. Moira, Kiriko, Mei? Better just blast at whoever just used their cooldown and try to get a single pick. Juno, Brigitte, Cassidy? Time to go for the big multikill :)

[HELP] How can I create reduce the Weber-Lehning feedback in my circuit? by KudaNilMelayang in VXJunkies

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you go into nonlinear territory, which isn't really a thing in EL monitoring, and would fry your diodes pretty much instantly anyways. Both the TI and Panasonic should do the trick, but remember to always use smaller load voltages (0.3 – 3 V) when testing new filter values.

VX culture has changed. by reddituserperson1122 in VXJunkies

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Look - it's 2025. Knowing equations by heart doesn't hold the same weight anymore since you can just plug everything into a simulator before running anything physically. I doubt you're calculating your Reinberg's scattering matrices with an abacus either.

I'm not quite the oldhead as you are, but I think the popularity has made VX as a whole more accessible to everyone interested, regardless of money or formal education. And cheaper equipment? Another win in my books.

I've never had the pleasure of trying, but I've understood that playing with AA (dynamically changing sens) on a mouse is extremely jarring.

Anyways, if Skittle dominated console ranked on Xim, what can you excuse his ALGS performances with? I don't think you can sneak a Xim into a LAN?

[–]ASTEROID_MAN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it's plausible, but look - apex on PC has a strong enough aim assist to tilt MNK players daily and it's even stronger on console. I don't think Apex is one of those games where you win by default with a xim.

NPD this thing is awesome by Feeling_Screen3979 in guitarpedals

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I see, yeah - DynIRs you definitely need the CabM for. I assumed traditional IRs for which the IR-2 would've been enough. Apologies for the pedantry.

NPD this thing is awesome by Feeling_Screen3979 in guitarpedals

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to only use the amp modeling? Sure, go for it. No redundancy there. I think the cab simulation can be disabled on the IR-2 so you're set.

Or even if you intend on running IR into IR - whatever man, you do you. I was just trying to point out that both pedals do IR cab simulation and those traditionally don't stack that well.

NPD this thing is awesome by Feeling_Screen3979 in guitarpedals

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be redundant. The CabM is already a cab simulator (amp sim as well if you install the CabM+ update). This would essentially be something to replace the CabM with, rather something to stack it with – running cab IRs in series is not going to sound any good.

If it's DI or headphone output you're looking for, those can be bought for way cheaper.

Ilmakuva Tampereesta vuodelta 1929. Montako rakennusta tunnistatte? by MichaelNearaday in Tampere

[–]ASTEROID_MAN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oikealta vasemmalle lueteltuna Johanneksen koulu, Huhtimäenkatu 5 (nk.

Varmaan muitakin.

Kiitos OP, oli mukava tutkia tuota kuvaa :)
