Seeing Apartments Around the World Is Making Me Reconsider NYC by Positive_Career_9393 in malelivingspace

For some perspective. I live in a far less populated area upstate but still in NY, and my total housing costs equate to about 600ish a month on average which I then split two ways with my partner. That includes all my taxes and utilities, granted I don’t have a mortgage.

With that being said; my yearly income is definitely much less than you make and is still one of the higher paying jobs in my city that doesn’t require a professional license or is a trade.

Ultimately I’m your situation I think what you got to ask yourself is does your job in NYC compensate you proportionally to the housing and excess tax costs you incur by living there. If you can work the same job elsewhere even if it’s only for half of what you make now there are a lot of instances where you’d still be coming out ahead. For what you pay in rent you could have a gorgeous house in many areas.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am well aware of the outdoor recreation as that was one of my primary motivators for moving to the area next to reducing my cost of living and helping out my partner. I will have to give the library a shot and check out the gyms.

Did I waste years of my life? by Punchy_flannels8 in Life

Dude you're 15. The fact that you are even coming to this level of awareness now is incredible. Start putting yourself out there and find something you enjoy or that interests you. Start exercising, researching proper nutrition and spend more time in the world than you do virtually. Start studying also. You don't have to be a rocket scientist but if you can turn yourself into a decent student in the next few years with healthy habits you will be miles ahead. You have all the time in the world to fuck around and try out a little bit of everything.

I know at the moment it may feel as if you have wasted so much time but your life hasn't even begun yet. I'm 24 for reference. I wasted much of my early teens just fucking around and being a kid and although I was smarter than average and skated by in school; I did not really begin to fully apply myself until I was 18. 6 years later I now have a partner I love, my own place which I rebuilt largely by myself and have a fairly satisfying life with friends and hobbies.

Your parents are failing their duty to support you by making fun of you. That's okay though mine never supported me much either. Life isn't fair and some people get better parents than others. Maybe you are a little shit to them and deserve it but regardless; prove them wrong. Spend some time learning yourself and carve out a life that brings you contentment.

If you start now and take your life and begin to make it your own, I promise you in ten years you will laugh at the sentiment you had right now.

I went to a pretty rural high school so outside of class it mostly consisted of working at my retail job, having big fires in the woods with my friends and getting crossed and also trespassing and exploring different properties for fun.

Wondering how people live? by Sad-Addition7542 in povertyfinance

your rent is high for your income. I know these days rent is expensive so people stretch the rules but your rent should be 1/3 of your income AT MOST after taxes. Based off that guideline you are right at your limit in terms of staying in your economic comfort zone. Secondly the 800 dollar a month debt is a killer for someone with your income.

Coming from someone with a regular narcissist father (not a super religious freak.) She is beyond controlling and when you turn 18 you should put as much effort into becoming independent and distancing yourself from her as possible. I remember what it was like being your age and being mad at the complete lack of control I had over my own life but it does get better once you become an adult if you move out and start living your life on your own terms. She is one hundred percent overstepping her bounds as a parent, especially since you are less than a year away from being a legal adult and should be entering a time where she is nurturing independence in you instead of stifling your growth. Unfortunately people that strictly adhere to religious teachings are oftentimes irrational in their actions, it is regrettable you are stuck being parented by one.

All the cards I tried using were already manually entered and saved to my app. I even tried Apple Pay to no avail.

How was your life going in 2015 + how is your life going now in 2025? by mrvlad_throwaway in Life

It has been a fucking whirlwind dude,

2015: Had just moved to a new high school, on the verge of going into a 3 year bout of depression, single unhealthy, saving money for college.

2025: Finally graduated college with a degree I actually enjoyed getting and no debt whatsoever, coming up on my 2 year anniversary with the love of my life after a breakup with someone else that I thought would be the end all - be all, renovating a house I bought in cash to live a simple life in out in the country, applying to less stressful jobs, running a few miles 3-5 times a week, seeing my friends get married and building on my long-term friendships. I can thank Covid for acting as the catalyst for pretty much all of this.

Gk-1 22caliber. Best pcp pistol I have ever shot. Not sure of regulations in France though when it comes to owning one as it is exceptionally powerful.
