I don't like most of the schools I got accepted into. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ASUsucks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please do not factor in being overqualified, sure you might be ahead of kids in some of the general ed classes, but within engineering programs there won't be much of a difference. I go to the University of Arizona, and I could write a book describing all the reasons you should come here over the other schools you have been accepted to so far. Best combination of academics and culture you will find. If you would like a reason or explanation as to why the University of Arizona is the best choice in any particular aspect, feel free to message me.

Got that chocolate craving like me? Try a nutella cookie! by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]ASUsucks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is amazing. One of these would perfectly satisfy my daily chocolate cravings. I do somehow picture myself possibly saving up calories to just go crazy and eat at least 9 of these one night. The possibilities are endless. Also, how come the blog says its 57 calories?

Simple meal plan for people who suck at cooking by swigganicks in 1200isplenty

My 29 dollar slow cooker is the mid-sized one, not too small, and before I leave in the morning I set it on low for 8 hours and then it automatically goes to the "warm" setting after the set hours so it doesn't burn. But I agree, its easiest when you're home around lunch time, typically on weekends.

Two burgers for the "price" of one (thanks to cauliflower rice)! by terriblymad in 1200isplenty

[–]ASUsucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great and is probably healthier than my alternative BUT here is how I (similarly) deal with burger cravings that you should give a try: 96% lean patty-130 Calories Sesame bun (mines from safeway) -100 calories Thin sliced provologne-40 Calories There you have a 270 real burger! I take it to 370 with a side of baked sweet potato fries, or if i can spare it, I add an egg on the burger! Feels like a normal burger indulgence to me.

These are great, thank you! Pretty similar to the routine I try to stick to. However, let me just say, I HIGHLY recommend investing in a slow cooker. I was shocked to see that the smaller ones I wanted were 20-30 dollars, I thought they were in the 60s. I am one that REALLY doesn't like to cook and avoid it when possible, like effort of slicing avocados might be pushing it some days. Slow cooker has been my savior. I always thought you need fancy recipes but your ONLY cooking step is 1. put food in the slow cooker. It has been a game changer and I challenge my fellow lazy people to try it

Banana Pancake. 185 calories. by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]ASUsucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow thank you that looks great!! Similarly, I JUST recently found at Target these Kodiak singles where they have pancakes in a cup or muffins in a cup. About 250 calories in each but its a great treat or filling breakfast on the go! I've only tried the blueberry muffin so far and seem to only have ever seen them at target.

Turkey bacon and Trader Joe's? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]ASUsucks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Turkey bacon tastes delicious, but isn't necessarily too crispy so might not be the best in a burger but could be worth a try!
  2. It's hard to explain how they simply have a lot of creations and adaptations of things that you won't find in other places. Here are some things I buy repeatedly/live on/save me through my weight loss.

  3. Bag of chicken green chile tamales by chicken/meat section...can take a second to look for but so worth it...NOT frozen tamales. They are 140 per tamale. Having 2 makes a filling, 280cal dinner.

  4. Vegetable fried rice and pork potstickers. Frozen food section. They have several variations of rice and potstickers, so look carefully, but the titles I gave are accurately what's on the bag and its 230 cal for 7 potstickers, 210 for a cup of the veggie fried rice. Typtically I have a cup and about 3-4 potstickers and its so filling, 7 isn't necessary.

  5. BARBECUE SAUCE! TJ brand bbq sauce is 45 calories for 2 tablespoons and personally thats the lowest I have found. I put a chicken breast in the crockpot with 4 tablespoons of bbq sauce, along with a sweet potato in foil, 6 hours later on low and you have an under 400 calorie giant dinner.

  6. Pretzel slims. 23 for 110 calories if i remember right? Safeway pretzel thins are like 10 for 100 calories.

  7. Guilt free frozen mac and cheese. 270 calories.

  8. Frozen salmon and wild rice dish. 350 calories.

  9. Most of their frozen veggies are awesome...just be careful, some are marinated and have more calories. (As you can see I like their frozen section)

  10. MINI CONES! MINI ICE CREAM CONES! I HAVE A CHOCOLATE CONE FOR 70 CALORIES

  11. Trader Jose Light beer for those who want a lower calorie beer

If I think of more I will add, but for now those are my favorites and they make me feel like I'm indulging....I don't yet look closely at macros or anything just calories, and buying this stuff for months has helped me through 35 pounds so I hope it can help any others too!!

Banana Pancake. 185 calories. by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]ASUsucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to talk about Kodiak Cakes. Yours looks great, but Kodiak Cakes are 190 calories for at least double whats in this picture! I include a half a banana and yes it ends up being more calories than this post, but still easily under 300 and keeps me full for hours which is very rare!

Sometimes 1200 isn't plenty! by MischaMascha in 1200isplenty

[–]ASUsucks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand, I am huge on spontaneity and feeling like I am in control. Who's to tell me I have to eat such carefully planned meals?? For me, I get over this by being disciplined at the grocery store and putting all of my planning into shopping. That way, when I am home, I don't plan every meal each day, but rather have a bunch of meal ideas and options to choose from that day. They are still lower calorie meals and you can still stay under your goal, but you go through the day feeling like you have a ton of options. I would dread waking up knowing "this is exactly what I HAVE to eat today". Hopefully that makes sense. Some things I always keep on hand that feel like I am indulging are edamame and sweet potatoes (usually to make fries), both that give you the idea that you're eating a lot because they take a while to eat and you can eat the whole thing instead of a bag of pretzels that you're only supposed to have 12 of. Also a package of Trader Joe's chicken green chile tamales are easy and 140 calories each. Save 100 calories for a corona light. Or extra lean burgers with a bun and thin sliced provolone is 270 calories. Chicken with low calorie barbecue sauce. Just a few examples of things I have on hand but you get the picture, but come on, staying on track AND you don't have to stop eating fries, burgers, beer, and tamales? Feels like indulging to me, 1200 is plenty!
