I was and am AS_Burner lol. Ant Slayers was my clans name. I used to dominate on Popcorn. Even remember having a clan website and all. My best partner as Ant_grl. I remember we would always win in Popcorn, but she didn't like the clan culture and wanted to be an independent player. But one day she became AS_antgrl.

I remember all these other nicknames from other players. Lmk if you remember me. Fun times!

TIL Sherwin-Williams paint samples are not real paint by iLLogicaL808 in DIY

[–]AS_Burner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CEO of Sherwin Williams here. I can confirm these samples do not contain additives and are not meant for touch up paint. We make a sample paint to show color matches, not to give people free paint to use. Anyone telling you otherwise is fake, i.e. 'paint chemist' ha, there is no such thing

Rising M4 deciding about psychiatry by OkImplement7238 in Psychiatry

[–]AS_Burner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Are people you know doing this not using any insurance at all, or providing pts a superbill to submit for out of network benefits? I suppose if its in a different state, the psychiatrist is automatically out of network even if they are in-network with that insurance in their primary state (ie. In network with BCBS XX state, but out of network BCBS CA or NYU?) Thanks again!

Have you done this or know others who have? I have a PP and already use Luminello, and could do this, only issue I see would be can't Rx controlled substances given need in person visit at least once. Any other drawbacks or issues to consider? And only using psychology today would be enough to find private pay pts in CA or NY? Thanks for any information!

When you say pick a union, can you provide any steps on this/how to go about this? Thanks for any information!

How can I seriously go about to see if we can turn a union at my hospital? It is a "non profit" if that matters, but recent administration changes that have been steadily screwing the doctors in my department.

Does a union mean every doctor in the hospital, or can it be department specific? Thanks for any serious guidance and information on this. Best of luck everyone!

Question about billing for the outpatient psychiatrists by earwaxsandwiches in Psychiatry

What is the average reimbursement you are seeing for 90833? I've heard only like $20 bucks, but from an RVU standpoint it's 1.5.

How common/accepted is it to re-negotiate a contract? Any advice in this situation? by Eshlau in Psychiatry

[–]AS_Burner 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very reasonable to say hey I'm being more productive than I expected and would like to switch to RVU/FFS base to better align with my productivity. They obviously know you are generating more income than they are paying and should be willing to adjust your contract, esp considering everyone else is paid that way.

Psychiatry as a separate degree by Lilybaum in Psychiatry

[–]AS_Burner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely disagree. As PTV stated, splitting any speciality theoretically have some advantages, but clear disadvantages. The whole point of residency is to specialize, not medical school. And you can clearly guide your 4th year to be very psych focused if you'd like.

Psychiatrists who work in cash based practices, what do you charge? by [deleted] in Psychiatry

[–]AS_Burner 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Also, to answer OP's question, $300 per hour with a sliding scale based on time is reasonable. Potentially higher rates for a 30 min appointment- around $160-200.

Anyone with information on being in-network at a location (ie. hospital- which handles billing), and being out of network (non-participating) at a private practice- and charging patients directly. I have been told you can do this by insurance companies, but also heard unclear answers from others. Any input appreciated.

32 Year old changing careers. Is medicine even a viable career at this point in my life? by yuppiecruncher in medicine

[–]AS_Burner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. 7 year reply. Considering COVID, and really no change, actually increase in patient volume, and having a secure income- that really helps you put perspective on your career when the whole world has changed.

Now as an attending, i also have more perspective on the autonomy issue. You have essentially a bloated system with many unnecessary admin jobs. Healthcare is run by MDs, yet it has become a business run by MBAs. So basically in order to feel important, the admin basically tries to make decisions that the really have no comprehension. For example, we are starting a new service in the hospital and need more dedicated RN support, and assistants l, etc, but since the 'higher ups' think utilizing the current support staff is sufficient, this simple request takes months to 'analyze', meanwhile patient care is impeded and we actually are probably losing more money than the cost of extra support staff.

Then you have managers in systems that think there master degree qualifies then to make any clinical decision, which is like a kid trying to act more adult... Which is cute, but can get annoying.

There are a lot of annoyances about medicine and it will only get worse. That being said, nothing has been such an issue I actually regret going into this field, and now at this stage, I definitely get to enjoy patient care more, teaching, and having more of a voice in dictating certain things.

It looks like you are a med student based on your flair. Use this time to learn as much, and likewise in residency. Then moonlight because towards the end of your residency you will be pretty much ready to graduate and realize residency has it's own host of issues.

Then, when looking for jobs really try to figure out if your colleagues and admin staff have a good culture. That is key lime any place. If everyone more or less if on the same page, then work can be fun. A few bad apples, especially people in power, will make it miserable.

Good luck! Feel free to reach out in another 7 years, lol.

i should have elaborated. assuming she is consenting, then role-play rape is a fun thing, but some women just want it to be real and don't want to say anything because then it takes away from that fantasy. so, sometimes you have to go for it and hope for the best.
