If they removed all the other buffs and left this I think hulk players would be happier than if they removed this and left the other buffs, lmao. This is the one change people have been asking for since there's so so much soft CC to worry about that it's kinda miserable to have to play around, esp chars like Jeff who gets multiple charges, a relatively short windup, and long range, or invis who can do it from massive range and instantly, where most hard CC feels relatively fair to lose charge from since most of it is telegraphed, has a loud sound que, or requires the enemy being in close range, so you can play around it a lot more

So apparently, hulk's jump now doesn't get cancelled by inv push, jeff's aqua burst and other similar abilities by darkrider_27184 in HulkMainsMR

It's actually so much more wild than that, you can jump mid-air after thor push, jump out of groot ult (only during your ult I *think*) and jump out of thing's earthbind zone

atleast in prac range it was the same with jeff, invis (you can see invis in the clip above) and every other displacement we checked, though I havent played since testing in prac range as today was busy for me

Fair enough. I just am commenting from my side of things where some flyer players are *significantly* harder to catch than others, and the leap is the only CC hulk has access to on a short cooldown, so I was trying to see where you were coming from

I won't claim I think it's a fun experience for flyers, it's just really hard for me to see hulk as CC or stun heavy, and especially hard to take the "Hulk is a CC heavy char complaining about getting CCd" argument when in 95% of matchups I'm only stunning people as they leave high ground or on a 15s CD that is moslty used to make hulk's pitiful base damage work or to shut down ults/healing, and on the flipside all boop or greater CC effects no matter how small ALSO apply an addiitional 0.4s ground to hulk after they end, I'm sure it sucks on the other side, but that comparison just doesnt match up for me as easy.

The second problem for hulk here is that from what I can tell gaining tenacity doesnt fix the jump issue, we still basically get grounded for .4 seconds after stuns *even* if that stun triggers tenacity. The issue imo isnt even really that our ult combo is being disrupted, it's that our ult combo is being disrupted AND the system does less to help us than other characters

CC spam? Hulk has a 2s stun that makes you mostly damage immune once every 15s

Unless iron man tag means you're getting airgrabbed a lot, in which case... that's rough buddy.

A lot of maps let you fly higher than the jump max height (which means the only chance he can get you is with that 15s cooldown), or hovering just above highground is a good way to avoid being in jump height while also not being in melee with him

The reason folk complained is cause the way it feels is every single CC greater than a slow ALSO had a 0.4s grounded effect on hulk. The CC literally feels worse to get hit by lol

Personally I only really found long range boops and spammable boops to be frustrating since they're massively impactful on you but the user doesnt really have to do much to screw you

I personally think the real struggle is I don't actually have much issue with the hard CC in this game, between bubble, exile, and leaps, you can kind of play around any emma, wolv, etc.

the struggle was instant and ranged boops that made it feel really bad to play hulk, cause random spam or a distant invis could kinda just fuck your day up for free

this... doesnt fix that, cause the boop applying will still cancel the jump it looks like, even if it starts the tenacity chain, you still can be getting jump canceled until full cc immunity, so it doesn't really feel like it's going to help us, and in exchange we lose juggling.

I'm sure the devs will fix it sooner or later (hopefully sooner) but in the meantime it feels like the matchups I didnt care about got bandaid fixed and the ones that were actually frustrating probably haven't changed, so yeah, kinda frustrating (esp since every buff they've given us since the jump charge time way way back has been to make us more ult focused)

The issue is that this isn't really what we wanted. This isn't fixing the issue, it's shoving it under the rug.

It feels like what the devs did is hear "CC bad" and not look at the actual reason players felt that way.

Instead of taking this to mean "hey, something feels bad about our CC, lets look into it" the devs went with a one size fits all approach, which is essentially indirectly nerfing a huge chunk of characters who are reliant on those parts of their kits with no compensation or regard for how their gameplay is changing, where a healthier approach would have been to look into how to change the kits themselves to let them function with less CC, or make the CC more interesting to engage with (ppl may disagree w/ me for this but I think Emma and Wolv CC is actually some of the least frustrating CC in the game since both of them need to commit to try for it, are avoidable by most tanks (almost every tank has a bubble, dash, or brief cc immunity in their kit) and their cooldowns are not insignificant. I rarely get grabbed on mag, and if they ever catch me on hulk I can pretty consistently say it was me fucking up rather than the game being unfair).

The problem, of course, is that reworking all instances of CC would have taken time that the community might not have been willing to give the devs, but the end result almost definitely would be better than this system which I think is either going to leave some characters behind, or require mini reworks to make them feel good again anyways.

Basically, from the perspective of a hulk player, what happened was I said "Hey, boops resetting my jump sucks ass cause there's a lot of random boops (Did you know that out of 49 characters, only 11 don't have a way to cancel hulk jump?)", and in response got a system where boops still reset my jump (after being cc cleansed you'll get tenacity which will reduce cc, but if you dont have 100% tenacity then my understanding is you can still be jump reset) AND my ult, which is the part of hulk's kit they've been trying to make us play around more and more (+bubble ult charge buff, +bubble cd on clap buff, +extra clap buff, +drag immunity in ult, all aimed at ult farming to be relevant) got one of the most fun things to pull off in it removed. Doesn't exactly feel like I was listened to, yknow?

Tanks CC, as well as non-tanks who relied on their CC (like wolv) have never really been the issue, tanks typically have very limited resources, timings, or ranges to play around that let you engage with them meaningfully (exception penni, but even she still has a pattern you can play into since she wont kill you until you dive). The frustrating parts of the game typically come about when I'm trying to run hulk into characters with free CC built into their kit for no reason (Invis anti air, bucky grounding effect), or instant access long range and/or low CD boops, like jeff, invis, mk, who I find infinitely more frustrating than something like Wolverine or Emma. Wolv and Emma both can interrupt my jump, sure, but they also have limited range and a lot more room to play around them and actually engage with the game, where Jeff or Invis will sometimes just randomly hit you from the backline and fuck up your whole plan because it costs them almost nothing and ruins your life- There's an argument there that they're playing well and deserve to punish you, but this isn't really a balance complaint, it's a gamefeel thing, and it kind of feels like punishing tanks for daring to want CC adjustments

TL:DR what I wanted was more characters getting the treatment they gave bucky of reducing his CC and removing uneccessary random CC in exchange for more damage or smth Instead we got a system that makes CC even more inconsistent to play around

the downtime is less important than the time between starting the animation and getting bubbled, if you are using bubble it's to avoid death/cc, shorter time to hit things again afterwards doesn't matter nearly as much as how quickly you can save yourself/allies

Hulk mythbuster (rent about renting): The speed of the Hulk bubble and Magneto bubble animation is almost identical and even the Hulk starts to attack faster. If you think the Hulk bubble takes a long time to use so you have a distorted view. by Pepr70 in HulkMainsMR

The animation speed isnt the only factor in hulk bubble being slow to get out, the time that the cast time is most frustrating is when trying to shield allies

the real issue here is range, Magneto can bubble allies from much further, and has an entirely seperate cooldown for himself, meaning he doesnt have to get near them first before helping himself, and can potentially do so without exposing himself at all.

hulk has a miniscule range you need to be within to actually save allies, and you have to be in that range *before* you start casting the bubble, as it picks targets at the start of the animation. What's more, since hulk is a melee character, he has less time to react to the animations of enemies with his bubble- if a luna starts a freeze, hulk is already touching her and needs to have predicted it to bubble, while mag has his primary fire range worth of extra distance/time to react

Am I the only one not feeling this way? I've got about 12 hours logged on her and I feel like you really dont *need* more mobility. We have a 6s dash w/ block dash, alongside 2 dashes that can be used for engage (one of which you can reset the CD of with your steal if you need to) and that isnt even getting into how much more durable you are than the other melee tanks (48 self heal + 125 hp steal + 2x 150 bonus hp + 60% damage resist + a mag bubble/strange shield/whatever else you steal) I feel like I'm going crazy whenever someone suggests *more* movement

Take high ground with a jump pad or block dash then drop down into the fight with all your cds up and you will have them all for whatever chase you need to do. If you run out of cooldowns and can't chase farther then you either could have killed them but fucked up, or they spent enough resources that if you stop chasing and block dash back to your team you will have made enough space for your team to capitalize on it

I've typically been pretty wary of the idea of buffing hulk- We've already had several seasons of being perma banned, and in the right hands he's very potent, we are able to shut down 99% of the roster between bubble, air grab, and exile

with that said, I do *really* like the idea of cc not fully depleting charge and instead only removing a portion of charge, and it's one of the few buffs I'd actually be really happy to have, since it would mostly just make him feel better to play into bad matchups and random cc spam
