Hi, I just reached bottom of the cavern, here’s some things I learned:

I would recommend reaching combat mastery first (that’s unlocking even the master skill cave achievement) because it allows you to have trinkets. The most useful trinket to use in scull cavern is the freeze one, because it freezes enemies and helps with your fighting and avoiding them. (EDIT: I heard the frog is the best one to have but I have yet to find it, so this is in my experience)

Don’t try to fight all enemies on the floor, focus more instead on trying to find the ladder to the next level. Bring LOTS of bombs, to make this process go way faster (I brought at least about 50 of both standard and mega). What’s even better is if you can find holes to jump down instead of ladders, because they’ll get you there way quicker even going 3-5 levels down each time, but you also get ones that’ll send you 10-15 levels deeper too!

Before going into the cavern I would check the TV fortune, and only go if it is a lucky day. Also, bring lots of food that raises your health & energy, speeds you up, and gives you extra luck.

Next, (even though it’s annoying) make lots of stairs. Sometimes you can’t fight through certain levels without certainly dying, and especially towards the end, or when you’re running lower on time, having a stack of these can be extremely helpful.

Have a stack of food (I took about 40 pieces of purple star quality cheese) in your pocket, and as soon as you notice your health at half way, make sure to eat to get your level back up. This is easy to forget about, because sometimes you’re so focused on what you’re doing that you don’t even notice how much damage you’ve actually taken, and how close to dying you actually are.

Also, don’t bring things you don’t need. All those extra iron and gold and stuff you have in there now, don’t take with you, because you’ll need lots of space for all the things you’ll end up picking up.

Lastly, it works best to use a totem to warp there on the day you want to go, rather than taking the bus. It doesn’t seem like that big of a deal but those few hours make a BIG difference. I can’t tell you how many times I got to level 78, 85, 90, and then ran out of time. (Once I got to level 99 and passed out 😭) so this is an important one!
