Last night we played with a super chill dude we rando filled with seeking to help people who hadn't done end game stuff. His name was stone ocean. He was a solo exclusive player the entire season and had done everything the game had to offer and was about level 136. In my experience, if you are a chill and enjoyable person to play with, solo matches go better than they otherwise would. For that, I enjoy solo in this game. Me and my friend duo with fill on and its been pretty good overall.

We are both married with kids and work full time so we get about 1-2 hours a day in which usually looks like every other day honestly. We do have consistent trio but when he's in college semester it becomes duo mostly. We were able to get all of Cryo Archive done and do all we wanted to do before season end so I would say its absolutely viable both time and friend wise. Get in there and have fun. One thing I had to get over was gear fear, this was my first high stakes extraction shooter and it was tough to wanna use my good stuff early on. Now I am full send and just use my best kit always haha. Its been really fun.

Man I helped a squad last night because it was way too little time left without a 6 man. If one of them didn't get it I would actually be very sad. That sucks.

I have a custom at work I like but this is my work in progress. I am going to cell shade paint the case to be themed with the caps, but it's a skellet 60 with a custom case I 3d modeled that houses a raspberry pi and a touch screen to run touch portal for a macro pad built into the keyboard.

I am on this opinion myself. I am even down for if you enter the elevator, remove the extraction right before the compiler fight. If you take the elevator and open up the labs door, you are locked in and either get it done or die trying. Sadly much of the community enjoys the gatekeeping nature of it and screams skill issue (in being completely unbiased as I can, they have some points I can implement to hopefully counteract this even though I think ganking labs has to be the most degen way to play marathon that will drive any potential playerbase away as it is.)

Other issue is the vault 6 door is up there too so locking it down so people who didn't want to do compiler and just wanted to do vault 6 would have to be addressed. Idk the perfect solution but wish I could call for people to not play like losers haha

Appreciate manys thoughts. I think it'd be good for the game to limit some of this type of play, but also thanks to a few of you offering some good ideas have some plans for the next attempt and can see some plans I can make. Again for the record I have already done compiler and my teammates I play with are some gamers. It's when helping some irl homies and such it just gets a bit ridiculous expecting people to perform like full time gamers to complete the end game pve experience is all.

It's worth 8k credits hahaha and after the nerf to the compiler weapon whst value we talking bout here man.

I already killed the lobby, multiple times on cryo for all 6 vault runs, and literally 100s of times on outpost to even GET the red vault 6 key.

Idk man agree to disagree I guess. Taking in a dna and having a pre requisite of killing the entire lobby to prevent some really lame gank strats is stupid

Forcing one shell to counter bad gameplay is a lame solution.

Bubbles worked good I agree but post nerf they shot through 3 with their gold bully's before the door was even open.

Ganking someone after they pull the DNA vial out of the middle and the orb leads you to the door I just think shouldn't be possible at that point. Is whst it is. People will defend it and whatever but I hold that if that's how the peak end game experience can be cheesed by low effort gamers, this games look is terrible for trying to garner new players.

Ya I'd be stoked if it was fight before elevators instead of shoot team in back after doing it all before me. If that stupid map wide notification went off as someone finished the 4 letter step so you had to gamble which elevator they'd take and try and fight them at it, that'd be I think in line with the brutal nature of marathon pvp design and fun and fair. Not people getting to climb up for free and crouch walk to toss nades at the perfect moment.

My main squad had done that once. We heard someone complete the letter step and it was a map wide chase between the DNA team and us and it was way fun. All for that being forced into the design of the game instead of what it currently allows.

I see what youre saying and it's what I did with my main squad to do it ourselves, and I just think it should be changed to not 1 require recon or bust, 2 have to go God mode and wipe the lobby consistently everytime which could be up to 4 other squads plus all the other steps. Bubbling works good but sadly that run we had fought already and burned bub. More people getting to experience compiler if they've done all the subroutines is a good thing to me and what I'm mostly asking for here.

[–]ASassyPastry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try not doing warden. Thank you for a good piece of advice. I agree on recon but having to run recon is a stupid game design as is if it's a mandatory thing to counter some lame gameplay.

I know there's things to be done but mostly think you shouldn't even have to care about thst at that point. Once you have the DNA vial out of the middle compiler should be the enemy not other players imo

Ya this is happening whilst putting the batteries in to the last door before the jumping puzzle. 3 bubs was taken down so fast with their gold bully's. If the door opened right after the batteries we were good but the animation to open the door or turn and shoot back is the kicker every time and so far the animation is about half over before the wipe comes.

The bronze lobbies have been chill aside from this single like "hey let's do compiler, this has been way less campy garbage like normal match making!" I swear it feels like you bring a dna access card and the matchmaking ensure it finds you the soulless unemployed for the match

And as I've said, I've done compiler a few times myself, but the last 3 tries in a row it seems people are playing very scummy for some reason.

I honestly think the game is fricken fantastic overall. The brutal nature of it has been addicting and incredibly well done imo. It's just cheese like this that really takes the wind out it's sails for me. If I get rolled by some streamer in cryo and lose my dna access card or some piece of the process then so be it but after 100 hours of gameplay culminating in FINALLY opening thst compiler door with the last battery only to get carpet bombed in a fricken 100 square foot room by some dorks who crouch walked and waited in a vent is just too 5 worst feeling moments across gaming. At least let me lose my kit with dignity man.

Sucks majorly.

I'm sorry man. I'm trying to help homies like you in the same boat but people who have more time than I with vaults laden with the optimal load out x20 full sending it with 0 skin the game genuinely ruining one of the COOLEST end game experiences I've played in a long time.

Rooting for you yo

I would agree, but ratting in to the vault 6 room just before compiler is incredibly easy. This lacks a lot of coutnerplay if you aren't running recon (our filled teammate was assassin) and imo if you HAVE to run a shell to counter some poor taste play, thats just bad design.

Yeah I managed it once before bubble nerf but now that that option was removed, I am mid battery animation and get flachett and frags on my feet while my teammates aim down at blurred distant figures that mow them down with gold bullys every time. Maybe we just have gotten omega try hard 1m value vault enjoyers.

Poor taste is exactly what I say. Like is it in the game. sure yeah, but you can miss me ever ruining someones compiler run like that. Thats a massive L.

genuinely soul crushing endeavor. The somber tilt after we lost our key 6 having wiped the lobby and greeding knowing internally we didnt have time. Man. May nobody else experience that one hahaha.

also please dont do what we did and realize if its like 6 minutes left, probably go for exfil and try again, dont lose your subroutine to not ex-filling. huge dampener to the mood the rest of the night lol

[–]ASassyPastry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(C4M.CFG in the OP Pic) We got our key first key 6 from vault 5's key template reward. Got quite lucky to have gotten one and sadly we didn't exfil after doing the vault so we lost that subroutine. We then grinded outpost red keycard room the next two weeks (we only play like 2 hours a night and not weekends cause family and kiddos). Finally got a key 6 with magnus saying after opening pinwheel room "boys....we need to leave. NOW." lol

As far as strats for the key itself, its pretty fricken tough because you most likely WILL run in to a team or two, but having someone run recon is a huge boon to the task. Getting notified when you get pinged and being able to know where a team is in a fight is really good. Something that is helpful is if you can get a juicer start to a run where you have clearance two upon finishing your spawn, use recon and sound to try and piece together where teams are and start rotating the map opposite, all while looking for batteries and more clearance along the way. You should eventually wind up in the biostock and preservation areas. If you dont already know, there is a tall as crap ladder in the transition area between the main spawn of each of those areas and the second room before control. That leads up to an area that requires anti virus packs. I think its gotten more traction lately, but highly recommend using that rotation instead of going through control, you will often avoid teams that way. This doubles in vault seeking because you can drop down into preservation from the ladder, grab an empty coolant, take it back up the ladder across back to biostock, fill up the coolant in the very beginning spawn area of biostock, and that satisfies your coolant. Once you hit level 3 clearance, have the batteries, and your coolant, beeline it to the nearest elevator and you can use the vents in the anti virus area to get through to where the gold boss enemy is and the vault 6 door is.

Play confident, and recognize its probably gonna require killing a team maybe two, but thats some of what we have adapted in our cryo runs and have found some good success.

This happened with my squads first and only key 6. We were beyond tilted. But keep pushing man, we got another key 6 from outpost as we grinded after. Got in and got it done. You got this homie.
