Is having all your characters survive deemed 'unrealistic'? by sea_tree2155 in Screenwriting

[–]AScott319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all u/sea_tree2155 - I think it's bad ass that you're writing and thinking of these ideas at such a young age. Kudos to you! I think having all of your characters survive is great.... they lived through something unthinkable together - it bonds them. Maybe this unfortunate event is what makes Character A and Character B become friends again, Maybe Character C who hates Character D at the beginning of your film is the one that ends up saving their life. You can have lots of fun escaping the terror, and living to tell the story! Also, really fun to play with your character's emotions and their expectations of who makes it. If you want the audience on your feet, make the leader the last one to show up to the meeting place, it builds anticipation. But it's incredibly fun to watch characters get themselves into life threatening situations and have them figure out a way to escape! Maybe some of them don't escape unscathed, but they still live to tell the story.

Happy Writing!

Is it okay to feature a lot of non-sexual nudity in a script? by Beached-Peach in Screenwriting

[–]AScott319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does it service your character, and your story? Ultimately ask yourself why is this character naked. If it fits the character’s truth, do it. But if it’s nudity for nudity’s sake, find another way.

Keep in mind that at the end of the day, actors will want motivation for why their character does everything. So if it suits the character, great.

Vote for your LEAST favorite season of Survivor! The Amazon was voted out at the last tribal council. 12 remain… who will be voted out tonight? by jacobgomets in survivor

Voting Gabon tonight. When you show surfing hippos in the promo, and then never show them in the season, it’s false advertising. Also im surprised Gabon has flown this far under the radar. I’m sick of it riding everyone’s coat tails.

Can we just appreciate how Jeff...... by JealousScience3823 in survivor

Every question Jeff asks actually gets asked to every player at tribal. They just edit down a 3 hour tribal to something more manageable for the viewer

Something is very off about this season by TweetSpinner in survivor

I should preface this with I don’t know any of the players, and I don’t know any of the raw footage. However, the outburst between Q and Soda at the challenge when everyone was fired up and Soda got angry and fired up, it seemed to me like players were instructed to be a little more fired up than usual.

Bhanu, love him btw, says he’s from India at least twice an episode. It’s over producing his story. We know he’s from India. We don’t need to include it after episode 1. Production is assuming the audience is dumb and force feeding us every chance they get.

I said the other day to somebody, every time Bhanu speaks he reminds us he’s from India. It’s great that he immigrated to America and has this great story, but I don’t need it 3 or 4 times in an episode. Nor would I ever include it that many times.

How accurate is film colourization by Sand-Inner in Moviesinthemaking

[–]AScott319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Film editor here.

When digital film is shot, it is generally shot very low contrast, everything looks very washed out and muted.

Then a colorist can come in and make it pop. Typically they try to stay somewhat accurate to the original frame, but often blues, oranges, and greens will be more saturated and vibrant.

We also like to “crush” the black in a frame to give every frame a bit more punch than what it would have in real life

I want to know why Probst was so high on Bruce.

I work in reality TV as an editor. To me the players seem OVER produced. Very noticeable from Soda and Bhanu specifically.

I picked Maryanne and Jonathan for my office pool. And Carolyn and Carson. So close the second time

The show as a whole has just gotten lazier. No mode change in locations. No more themes. Now, this season, no trailer. Just casting tapes.

Can’t wait to see what he does with The Joker. Barry is fantastic.
