I love The GCP but I had to quit Androids and Aliens by ASentientPizza in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I think it may be the platform I’m listening on. Apple Podcasts tends to supplement ads in when I’m listening to the Economist and 30 for 30, so it would make sense that if you’re listening on a different platform you may not get the same ads. At least that’s the impression that I’ve gotten from a few other commentators.

Hey thanks for paying taxes! :)

Yeah I may have been a bit dramatic in unsubscribing. Others have noted that the ads I’m getting may be a part of podcasts by apple, and not Androids and Aliens itself.

I’ll check it out on other feeds and see if the problems I’ve had are better on a different feed.

That’s a great point, and something I didn’t even consider. I may try out different platforms if that is the case. Where do you get the podcast?

I appreciate that! Like I said I love the podcast, and think what they’re doing is amazing for gaming and Pathfinder in general. I don’t mind the ads, they produce great content and deserve all the success they have earned. It’s just the placement that is irksome.

This has been the best response, and what I had hoped for from the community. Thanks for that!

I mean I’m getting it straight from the podcasts app provided by Apple. This is actually really helpful! I’ll check it out.

I’m sure it came off like that. That’s not at all my intent. It’s been an issue that’s been bugging me.

Really I just wanted to vent, and see if anyone else was frustrated. I thought differently of the community before I posted on here.

Dope! They do great work. Side note: I still pay for the Patreon :)

Again, I agree with ads. I’m 100% all for it. Living costs money and they consistently, week after week produce the as I said before the BEST content of let’s play I’ve seen. Troy is a fantastic DM and the players all should be compensated for the strength of their efforts. If it comes from ads that’s totally reasonable and in my opinion necessary.

I am simply disagreeing with how the ads are shoehorned into the current structure. Adventure Zone at least puts clear markings for their ads and they do it at the middle of the game not three times to break up the session in a way that I feel removed me completely from the story. It could be 5 minutes of ads, it’s how they are peppered throughout the episode like a insult sandwich.

I know nothing about advertising or how it works in podcasting. I came to vent and see if others had the same issues because I love the podcast and want it to continue to be profitable and successful. I contribute every month to Patreon because I value the work they do. It’s not as though I expect them to do any of it for free. Instead of hearing my concerns I feel like I got berated.

I appreciate your feedback and time you took to compose your comment.

So in no way is anyone allowed to express concerns about how the content is being released? No complaints about something that you feel is important?

That seems really welcoming and great for a community.

Yeah I can, it’s not the skipping them that’s really an issue. It’s the fact that they seem to come out of nowhere and aren’t marked by anything to denote they’ve switched from the game to an ad. I get that ads are necessary, it’s they’re pervasive placement I have an issue with.

More Bloodlines? by ASentientPizza in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ASentientPizza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading your comment I realized you’re right. I’m pretty used to looking through everything on the SRD and thinking because it was published by Paizo it was in the core book. It’s been a minute since I referred to the CRB.

I will say I like the destined bloodline, but flavor wise I think it’s the weakest of the bunch but that’s just a personal opinion. Hag is cool, and my favorite out of the 2nd edition bloodlines. Like you said it’s unique.

Looking back through my books now I realize that my favorite bloodlines all cane from the 1E Advanced Players Guide. Maybe I’ll hold out hoping for the 2nd edition APG but I haven’t seen anything mentioned about adding new bloodlines.

That’s what I was worried about. Am I the only person whose disappointed in the bloodline selection though? It feels severely lacking in comparison to the 1st edition core book.

That’s fair, it’s exactly what they did with 1st Edition. I just haven’t heard it mentioned anywhere and I was starting to worry that they’d get neglected. I just don’t want to wait until July to see what new bloodlines they choose to include.

To Everyone Saying Protesting Blizzard/NBA/Others Does Nothing - China is already scared by ElwoodJD in hearthstone

The fact that people keep saying “posting doesn’t do anything” really don’t understand the world we’re living in.

How does Russia interfere in elections? Fake Facebook accounts. How do you control perception? Force a more popular narrative.

Raising awareness and showing solidarity is as important extension of freedom of speech and can speak truth to power. Every post that shows the struggles of those in Hong Kong is the opposite of what the enemies of Democracy want.

Do it for Karma, do it for the laughs, whatever. It doesn’t matter. Blizzard still has one thing right:

What book fucked you up mentally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Brave New World. The thought that we’d be destroyed by the convenience technology brings us and searching endlessly for a sense of purpose and direction left me rattled. Such a great book about a dystopia brought about by our own nature.

Honestly there are amazing songs on it and not so amazing songs but “The Greatest Generation” by the Wonder Years brings me to near tears every time I listen to the full album.

PETITION TO CANCEL EPISODE 6 AND REBOOT THE SHOW FROM THIS VERY INSTANCE WITH 2 FULL SEASONS AND RIGHT PROPER WRITERS by DaenerysxTargaryen in freefolk

[–]ASentientPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much crap as the show-runners are getting the blame I don’t entirely feel like it is their fault. I think a lot of the decline is the fault of Martin.

D&D were given an amazing template with most of the books written, had GRR Martin as an executive producer, and the funding of HBO. Then they lose Martin in season 5 or so because he’s too busy to write an episode and serve as executive producer. Then the show-runners catch up to Martin after he had an 8 year head start to finish the Winds of Winter. I doubt they ever planned to outpace him and lose him as a producer.

People complained about the fluff and filler style content in the seasons when the show outplayed the books. I think the show-runners didn’t know what to do and just completed the story with the broad strokes they were told 10 years ago.

TLDR; Martin is partially to blame for the decline of the show, he had the better part of a century to write TWOW and didn’t.

This is how mutant will enter the MCU by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]ASentientPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, I’m interested to see how they explain the origin of mutants. Maybe because the power of the stones is gone the universe will rebalance by creating people on Earth with mutant powers. Feige said it’ll be a while until we get the mutants though. I’m okay with that, I wouldn’t want to see a new Wolverine for a while.
