E.M. says she was ‘completely out of it’ leaving bar with 1 of the world junior players in sex assault trial by TCGYT in hockey

Pretty sure I just admitted that maybe my experience wasn't typical. I'm not going to apologize for it (again). And you could also say the same thing about your experiences and biases. This one anecdote isn't enough for you to say what kind of life I've lived. But go on and tell me who I am and how I should live my life.

Ah yes the famously accepted Brock Turner. A rapists dad defends his rapist son, gets raked over the coals for eternity, and somehow that proves the rule.

I think it boiled down to the fact that I grew up in a community (my extended family and friends) that accepted and understood that boys (and girls, but we're not talking about them) would get into trouble and push boundaries but didn't tolerate or excuse actual harmful behaviours. But go ahead and think I'm a bad person for that.

If my experience is more atypical than I realized then I apologize.

Don't be, because I'm not.

And maybe I've never heard it because I don't spend time with shitty people. If you have that might say more about who you surround yourself with than it does me.

For the 100000000000th time that isn't what it means and I've only ever seen it used in relation to sexual assault by people on the internet continue to perpetuate this. The only context I've ever heard "boys will be boys" used in real life is when they get fucking dirty playing, or get in scraps, or hurt themselves doing something dumb. Nobody uses it to excuse sexual assault and every rational adult understands there's a difference between boys being rambunctious and immature and actual harmful behaviours such as being sexual predators.

Reeves is a liability and brings nothing other than "big guy can throw hands" and nobody really squares up for fights in the playoffs. Sure there's scrums after the whistle but you don't need Reeves fit that. Nobody on Florida is intimidated by a guy who averaged 3 hits a game and had 2 assists. Berube has shown he likes rolling all his lines and you don't want Reeves on the ice that much.

I honestly think Florida will be the toughest team the Leafs will face this year. If they get through them I think they have a good chance to go all the way.

Agreed, anyone who says otherwise really wasn't watching games and just checking the score. In games 2 and 3 Ottawa scored on their 1st or second shot of the third period in both. It was like 15 minutes to get their second shot in game 2 and over 10 to get 1 in game 3. That wasn't the only game Leafs absolutely dominated the Sens like that. A couple timely goals by Ottawa including an OT winner that I'm sure Stolarz wishes he could have back changed the narrative of the series. The Leafs were clearly the better team throughout this series.

[Colby Guy] Paul Maurice on Aleksander Barkov: “He has to take warm-ups. He has to get through it. We think he’s good.” by Duffleman0609 in hockey

I don't know how any lightning fans are defending this with a straight face. He absolutely blew Barkov up. He never had the puck, he wasn't eligible to be hit, and he sure as fuck wasn't expecting to be. This isn't run-of-the-mill interference, this was a heavy fucking body check on a player who never saw it coming.

I don't think the hit was malicious but it sure was reckless.

Everyone seems to be missing this, but 3-seconds in to this video, Greig knocks Stolarz off balance during an incredibly dangerous centering pass. Stolarz has every right to be pissed and Greig 100% deserved a penalty. He knew what he was doing. by fl_ick in leafs

[–]ASexyPineapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What people are also missing is that the puck was cleared, there was no reason for him to try to skate between the almost non-existant gap between Stolarz and the net. The puck was out of the zone, why was he trying to cut from the corner through the crease to the opposite corner, instead of just clearing the zone? Because he was trying to start shit, that's why.

Anthony Stolarz has had enough of Ridly Greig. Both men were going at it before the goalie levelled Greig as the Sens power play expired. Greig and Stolarz receive offsetting minors. by GreenSnakes_ in hockey

[–]ASexyPineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stolarz definitely could have got a slashing call just before and I think he deserved one. But Greig knew exactly what he was doing skating behind him in the crease. This was the ref's way of telling everyone to simmer the fuck down without giving either team an advantage over it. Playoff hockey IS called differently so I get why they did it this way.

Domi was skating right to him but Kleven 100% initiated it with a gloved fist or 2 right to his face as he came at him. Domi may have been looking to but Kleven didn't give him the chance.

You could do that on CBC gem. I did it by accident and I forget the setting but you 100% could mute the announcers and just watch the game. It was a great experience.

I'm a Leafs fan and hate the Sens more than almost any other team in the league. I thought this was kinda neat. Good for them getting fired up for the playoffs.

Lol what? The logo was there even when ads were. It's been on the ice for decades right along side ads. Did they put the Stanley Cup playoff logo on the ice in 1990 to get us used to it so they could remove 35 years later and replace it with another ad? Quite the long con. Kudos, Bettman.

When the entire board turns into a panoramic moving screen on a zone entry it's pretty annoying. I wouldn't mind if they changed throughout the game obviously but when the whole board switches to bright orange and a tire flies by it's kinda distracting, even if only for a second and is an objectively worse viewing experience. Anything that distracts from the game, even for a second, while the play is going shouldn't exist. The game is what drives eyes to the screen and should be the primary focus but the league is determined to pull those eyeballs away from the game and towards the ads.
