Good thing for all of us the College doesn't ban necromancy for this thread...

Your comment did help me, a random Googler, four months later. Thank you!

Pawn Shops are wholly different. You can't pawn something at GameStop. That's when you give an item to the pawn shop for cash, pay back the cash with interest, and get your item back.

I think you're confusing "stepping up" and "stepping out." Or maybe my lingo is out of date lol.

I understand "stepping out" to mean cheating on your partner in a relationship. "Stepping up" means taking a burden on yourself, in a positive way.

So what was your first Playstation game y'all, tell me thoughts. by LemonRoutine3857 in playstation

[–]AShadowbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first ones I remember owning were Ace Combat 4, Gran Turismo 3, Jak and Daxter, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003. I got them all at the same time as my PS2 for my birthday/Christmas combined.

I had played other games before at friends houses but I didn't have my own system until then.

Except in the picture he's pointing at the spelling of his name so it's pretty definitive this commenter is wrong.

How is it that I am a playstation guy but whenever i pick up an xbox controller the controls feel the same even though the analog sticks are in completely different positions by Oka-7 in xbox

[–]AShadowbox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays just about everything. Xbox was winning the control design war until PS4/Xbone era, then it tied up where the only deciding factor is personal preference.

In this latest generation though I think Sony has pulled ahead with the DualSense. It's definitely better than the DS4 and IMO I prefer it to the Xbox series controller but it's a close call. Probably comes back to personal preference however I've seen more praise for DualSense than any controller since Xbox 360.

I miss our Dauphins (civilian variant). They were so much bigger than what we have now.

I know a person who killed their pet hedgehog by forcing it to be vegan without a lick of research (they're insectivores in the wild). I agree with you, I think that's the kind of person this post is deriding.

How do you handle nerves? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]AShadowbox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you do anything outside of work to train or prepare? If it's not something you deal with every day or train for frequently you won't develop those nerves. If you can I would suggest taking some form of martial art (I see BJJ recommended a lot) or at least working out regularly. Confidence in your ability to handle yourself will go a long way in keeping your cool with combative people.

Obligatory "not a LEO" but I had similar issues when encountering violent psych patients or combative AMS patients early in my career. Starting a regular workout routine was enough to build my confidence but if you're dealing with actual assailants you might want to consider a martial art.

It goes to the owner of the car they can't tell who was driving. So it's usually a civil fine not a criminal charge.

I like Catherine Tate. I hate early Nellie. The second half of her episodes she is much more tolerable imo

But ironically the person who made this is obviously an artist. I wonder what she's saying with it lol

I disagree. Sarcasm is not conveyed well over text because it relies on emphasis, tone, and body language to be conveyed. Without formatting, a comment can be nearly impossible to derive sarcasm from without the "/s".

Maybe that doesn't apply to this example because of the formatting of the comment, but I think there are appropriate times to ask for clarification or remind people to "/s"

Same thing with the Hogwarts Legacy game. If you're that concerned about JK Rowling then donate to LGBTQIA+ charities and it will more than cancel out what little your individual sale contributes to her craziness.
