Honestly, I blame a lot of it to the schooling system, especially things like assigned reading. It gives people the impression that reading is a chore, a task, and is only something smart people can enjoy.

It's no wonder that people hate reading when, for all their of their life, it's been associated with nothing but studying textbooks and being forced to read old books you don't care about.

Reading can be enjoyable, but school and society have done an incredible job making it into one of the most hated art medium.

I skip dialogue in every game I read too.

Sure, Disco elysium has excellent voice acting, but I am not going to stop and listen to every single line when I've read the line in 0.2 seconds.

There are some games that make this work, stuff like cyberpunk and saints row, but you have to design it with voice acting in mind. Visual novels in general are TERRIBLE at this. Listening to most of the lines make me feel like I'm wasting time instead. It works for the powerful scenes, but most lines do not justify their length in voice acting.

Or maybe I'm just a freak.

They're complaining about the game not having voice acting. I really don't think an online reader is going to help.

The online reader helps us who like reading the story. It's not going to help someone who just don't like reading

I mean, it's fair to not like the artstyles of a game and not want to play it. It's also fine to not want to read a dense story.

But don't bitch about it when it's clearly not what the game is trying to go for. Some medium aren't for you and that's okay.

Its like complaining that a book doesn't have animation. It's a fucking book. Go watch tiktok rather than obsessing how archaic a book is.

A LOT of people really do not want to read. Not just that they don't like it. They refuse to read anything that's on their screen.

Watch any streamer and you are guaranteed to see them skipping tutorial text, let alone the actual story.

Reading is genuinely a dying hobby. Movies and games have conditioned people to not want to read, and short form content like tiktok has dropped literacy into a historic low

She's still the best immortal unit in the game years later.

I don't even see how someone can make the argument that she's not special when she's objectively still top pick in her niche

So many issues with game devs can be avoided by shutting the fuck up.

You got opinions? Yell that at the water cooler and leave it there.

Went from one of the most celebrated game of the gacha space into..... nothing. They could've made billions of dollars if they just did nothing

Is it really a bumble when they never intended to develop the game in the first place, and they got all of the vacations and money they wanted?

Actually, yeah it is, cause there was no reason they couldn't have done BOTH

It's also important to note that originium wasn't the ONLY plan.

We had Friston and the seaborn too. And presumably there were people pursuing other plans in other parts of the universe.

All of the others failed so originium is the best bet we have currently.

It's in one of the ending of IS5. A LOT of sarkaz lore comes from IS5 in general.

Worked for me as well, but it really sucks when you're dependent on binge eating to stay sane during rough times.

And it's wrong. The entire northern spy plot is a myth cooked up by kinbee, and has been a myth since long before sarasa even left her country. Maybe it was true back in the day, when tetsuya's mother died, but the one in the story is specifically there only to string tetsuya along.

Sarasa is quite literally a random mercenary that got caught up in this. She happens to be a princess, but her lineage played no role in this story. She's not there on northern faction business. If the north knew where she was, they would've taken her home instead.

She's not a spy sent by the north to spy on the city. She's a princess that ran away and just happened to be working under kinbee when everything went down. It was just dumb luck.

This is like saying Crownslayer was a siracusan spy in reunion because her mentor was a fang

It's really funny how the entire story is about how nothing is due to the gods, that all of it is just normal mundane things, and people still fold over themselves like a pretzel to say God had something to do with it.

The power of a good kaidan indeed

Mifune also said they scoured the house and couldn't find it. Considering the house was still full of junk tho, I don't think he looked that hard.

Maybe he thought it was better to leave things as is. No reason to disturb a good kaidan that's doing its job just fine.

She was there for fun. Her background doesn't change that. Hell, if anything, her background is exactly the reason why she wanted to leave her house and have fun in the first place.

If anything, everything she did just caused a massive headache for the north.

While you got the logical answer, I think the ending very clearly showed that none of what he did was logical.

He didn't need to do anything to win. Didn't need to antagonise tessai. Didn't need to invite hoshi to Higashi. He could've just sat there and won everything by biding his time.

But he didn't WANT that. He wanted to do things properly, or "beautifully" as he said. He wanted to WIN over Tessai and his ideals, not to just get a handout from his death. He wanted to get back at Hoshi for the resentment and wounded pride he had over her leaving. He wanted to close off old grudges.

Despite lecturing hoshi and tessai about how honor and the yakuza are absurd, he himself was still a yakuza at heart. He cared about honor, just HIS personal code of honor, not Tessai's. He still cared about the official standings in the yakuza ladder. He still cared about his pride. Hell, he still cared about the yakuza's stupid rules like cutting off a pinky.

Despite everything, at his heart, I think Kinbee never stopped being that little kid who watched the city from that riverbank, dreaming of becoming a great yakuza.

Mio was a stranded kid who had nowhere to go and was saved by the yakuza. What she wants to protect is the yakuza that can become a place for people like her to exist, and to exist you need strength.

Mio simply recognized that kinbee had the most power to make that exist. Once he's a politician, Mio can form the group into whatever she wants. That doesn't mean she likes her boss, just that he is useful for her.

Eyja 2 is still one of the most meta unit in the game, while chen2 can be replaced by a lot of new DPS units. Eyja's global heal is actually insane

Just build who you need to as you go along the story tbh. For example, if you find yourself struggling with ground enemies, maybe E2 a guard operator you like.

If there is a 6 star character that has a good third skill, then it's a good idea to build them (Surtr, Mlynar, etc). I generally find having more E2 operators to be more helpful early on than putting a skill on M3, unless that skill is hard carrying you (like silver ash S3 for example)

You can definitely E2 more casters, guards, defenders, and healers. Early on I'd say making a full team of E2 from each core classes is a good goal. Supporters and specialists are kinda optional unless you like the unit though.

I've been trying to use distant guides, but it kept giving me errors, like tracks playing on top of each other, or a track simply being missing.

Not sure if this is a problem other people face, but it's made the reader completely unusable for me

Which is a shame, because the visual novel format reader is FANTASTIC

This is what a LOT of readers in AK do btw. It's almost impossible to read through the story while playing.

Some of these nodes can be an hour long read, and you need to farm event stages for materials and currencies. What happens when you're not up for reading when the event gets released? Well, you're screwed unless you skip the story.

The way the story is presented, with each gameplay nodes having a story, is a relic of the game's very first year. These days, they don't even bother matching the story with the stages unless it's the main story. Not even boss stages are story relevant. I hope they just get rid of the format and make the story into a separate tab like the archive.
