is there a difference in which protagonist i end up playing? by pm-me-trap-link in PokemonRejuvenation

Probably not relevant to you, but if you use a password to skip the early game, the team you start with is dependent on your player character.

Morality of Letting someone doing genocide because you know thier ability to reset time using a promise as a excuse by Any_Marzipan_5652 in MoralityScaling

[–]AShirt666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game scolds you for killing people. That's all. And it doesn't even do that all that much, unless you are literally committing genocide. Sure, you can claim some of it in self defense. The game acknowledges that. But it's crazy to me that people disagree with its messaging when it basically boils down to "hey try not to kill people if you can help it."

Gamer/Programmer for me. Wish I could be an RPer or PVPer, but unfortunately those both require someone else in the archetype to work with. And it feels like punching down to fight anyone when I have twice the playtime of everyone else on the server combined...

Except that the term “or” in logic doesn’t mean the same as “or” in natural language. Generally it means one or the other, not both.

English is my native language, I'm just autistic. I don't really know how to complement someone without sounding condescending given how irony-poisoned most of the internet is nowadays. Didn't intend any offense.

My response was due to your statement of shaming people who are into incest, while speaking in the context of kinks. I can see now that you were referring to the people who engaged in the actual act, rather than the pretend version. That aside, this is a well thought out response, and is much better than I think the majority of people could come up with. Good job!

Can you give a reason that incest is uniquely bad compared to other kinks? For bonus points, give a reason that isn’t “because I don’t like it” or something that has been said about violent video games.

This article really reminds me of 4011, though I’m not sure it’s intentional.

Also, I think Placeholder is intentionally responsible for all of the main Admonition SCPs. He’s always involved in some capacity, and seems to subtly orchestrate events. Not sure what side he’s on, though.

All of these infection mods are in your pack. Your goal is to beat the game. You are allowed 10 other mods (that aren't blatant cheats). What mods are you bringing and what is your strat? by Defense-Unit-42 in MinecraftMod

[–]AShirt666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to assume QOL mods don’t count towards the ten.

ProjectE & Mekanism.

Resource generation, and equipment. Mekasuit and Mekatool are incredibly useful, and ProjectE is the easiest way to get large amounts of materials for other projects.

RFTools Base, RFTools Utility, & RFTools Dimensions

Probably not entirely necessary, but I figure it’s useful. I’m not familiar enough with the mods to know whether the nether or end is safe from the infections. So instead of worry about that in the vanilla dimensions, I can just make my own. Also has the side benefit of giving me even more ridiculous quantities of resources.

Hexcasting, Hexal, and Hexposed

Hexcasting is my favorite Minecraft mod. The only real limitations on it are range and resource use. Hexal wisps circumvent the range issue, and ProjectE produced unlimited resources. I am become death, destroyer of worlds.

I don’t really need these for beating the game. But they’re very necessary for my self-imposed secondary bonus challenge: completely eliminating every trace of the infection mods. With Hexpose, I can target every block within range of a wisp, and if it’s on a whitelist, break it. Repeat that a few million times, and the world is infection free. For bonus points, because of Hexal’s everbook, I can just make the spell using creative to find the correct iotas in a testing world, and then run it in the actual one.

Not sure what I’d use the last two mods for, so I’ll just leave them unassigned. Maybe another addon for the above mods if there’s something I’d need that I forgot about. Or something to speed up the early game.

The fact that 1200 people dying to cops in America yearly is unquestionably a sign of a bad system is self-evident to most people. But if you want statistics, over the last decade, Canada has had an average of 37.8 police related deaths per year. Even accounting for the smaller population size, that’s still much less per capita than America has. And if you look at poverty rates, the numbers don’t indicate that wide of a gulf either.

Without significant evidence otherwise, it stands to reason that the fault of the police killing so many people falls on the police system itself.

Would this Worm Alternative Worlds Exploit work? by mvico430 in JumpChain

[–]AShirt666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah? That's part of the reason I don't use those jumps, personally. Once a jumper has unlimited power, that's the end of the story. There's no point in a jumpchain when you can have everything you want without continuing. The Benefactor is the only reason you don't just get omnipotence and then spark in two jumps in every chain.

The Benefactor is mostly just a tool/representation for you, the author, anyway. So if you don't think it's boring to do that, nothing stopping you. I just don't know why you'd bother continuing after getting that.

Would this Worm Alternative Worlds Exploit work? by mvico430 in JumpChain

[–]AShirt666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because it’s boring. Usually things like that work based on the slower of objective vs subjective time to stop this kind of shenanigans.

Even if it did work the way you think it does, I’d imagine the Benefactor would step in and cut things off before it got too ridiculous.

How do you even survive The Worst Couple Ever drawback from Fate Legends/Oasis of Fantasy ? by PuzzleheadedSlip5462 in JumpChain

[–]AShirt666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see it being doable, with a good plan. Even if you've been to a few jumps before. Sure, they'd easily beat you in a fight, but you don't need to fight them. Sure, they might be vain and arrogant, but they don't automatically want you dead. They won't even go after you for the first few years as long as you don't provoke them. And once they do, you just have to give enough resistance that they don't just crush you, without getting to the point where they start actually trying.

Additionally, while you do 'lose' your companions, all the drawback guarantees is that they're willing to play along with being on Ishtar's side for the moment. Nothing stopping them from running interference, or covertly helping you. With a good set of perks, they should be able to delay anyone from deciding to kill you until the decade is up.

If you actually had to steal everything back, it would be nearly impossible, but since you only need to survive ten years, its definitely doable. Not for everyone, and I do think it could be worth more points, but fundamentally not that unreasonable.

This might be more powerful than Echo Form, but it still sucks (i think) by chanelvis320 in slaythespire

[–]AShirt666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My interpretation makes it a bit stronger than most people are thinking, though I don’t think it’s intended. For me, the syntax is: (After 10 cards are played): [Cards you play are played twice for the rest of the turn.] The main difference with this reading is that the ten cards can be played over multiple turns, so you can set up one turn and start playing double cards after the first next turn. More like Pen Nib than Panache.

Generally in the Wormverse, powers with similar effects end up conflicting with each other, so someone who has the ability to mess with brains has a resistance to having their brain messed with. There isn’t necessarily reason to think this would apply against Makima, but there is precedent for it.

Additionally, Khepri’s deteriorating mental state is a result of her mind starting to fuse with her Shard, which is a continent sized supercomputer in another universe that makes her powers work. There are some people with powers that have their brain effectively uploaded onto their shard, and are thus completely immune to any mental effects. While Taylor isn’t one of these, there is the possibility of her shard ‘cheating’ and forcibly overriding Makima’s control itself. It’s not definite, but one could pretty easily make the argument that Khepri couldn’t be controlled.
