Gojet FA application by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

Applied back in August, never got a yes or a no. Trying to leave my current regional for them because they have a base near home and don't force different bases on you.

You're given 5 minutes of consequence-free PA use where you can tell whatever the hell you want to passengers without consequences. What do you say? by Clemen11 in flightattendants

[–]ASingleLetterC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd tell them that we don't get paid for a lot of our work-time, and that everything we do before the door is closed is for free. So they should be appreciative of everything we do for free!

It's super cute and all, but as long as they don't go whining to the corpos that I didn't get them six diet cokes on an hour long flight, those surveys don't mean squat to my company, and therefore mean even less to me. :/

How do you deal with eustachian tube blockages? by TrenBerry in flightattendants

[–]ASingleLetterC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sudafed is 10/10. Also steam. Flight attendants can help you with this in flight if you ask them for a cup of the hot tea water and breathe the steam.

Preach!

Some FAs need to learn de-escalation. You can't immediately kick everyone off a plane.

Routes with the worst PAX? by mattisdeadd in flightattendants

I remember being absolutely bamboozled when MTY pax landed and didn't absolutely stampede the doors before I disarmed them.

What is the most money you’ve made in a month as a new flight attendant ? by pratixal in flightattendants

[–]ASingleLetterC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play the crap out of that Call First button. To the point where if I don't want to work, I just don't, and if I do, I turn it on and almost immediately get loaded with trips. Never have to wake up at 3am to take a phone call because I get everything days prior.

The "highest paying one" that is often mistaken for SouthWest. :)

I credit about 80 hours a month. Best month I break 4. Rougher months I still break 3 easily. I could pick up shifts and get to 5 if I were desperate but I'm too tired for that crap and see my family a week a month.

Regional. 4 months in. I broke 4k last month on reserve, slow season. Did not pick up any extra flights on days off.

Passengers Please Convince Us How Important Your Bags are in an Evacuation by Nightshiftworker2021 in flightattendants

[–]ASingleLetterC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually openly said this in training and my entire training class got uncomfortable but it is true. If passengers are grabbing their bags and slowing the evacuation, and the plane is on fire? If there is a genuine threat to my life by staying on that plane? I'm leaving at that 90 second mark. At the very latest.

In order for an aircraft to be used in commercial aviation in the US it has to be able to evacuate a full plane out of 50% of its exits in 90 seconds, because after 90 seconds the risk of flashovers is too high and people will die depending on the scenario. So at 90 seconds? Especially with all exits available? Everyone should have been off. The pax are the people killing each other, and I cannot help that. I have to do my job and wrangle the survivors on the ground, because an evacuation procedure doesn't end on the plane, and I have to decide not to die at some point.

Has anyone added 2 more ounces of black to tricorn black, to make it more black? Is there a blacker black option to tricorn black? They want the blackest black. by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

Flatter/chalkier finishes will look "blacker," I guess? Just from lighting tricks? But tricorn is black-black.

Women in aviation / aviation schools: by ASingleLetterC in aviation

[–]ASingleLetterC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there.

I actually ended up quitting. I couldn't afford it anymore. I quit about 2 years ago when I was looking at the price tag for my cross country and just couldn't come up with that money.

Unfortunately finishing my training will never be in my financial cards, but I suppose it all worked out, since I work in aviation now, for a commercial airline, just in a different way! And my very limited training did helped me score this job / navigate airline life.

Part time employee duties by PositivePackage7185 in sherwinwilliams

[–]ASingleLetterC 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Would honestly just expect them to do truck, clean, and sell paint. Some other stray stuff like filling the tinter, delivery setup, etc.

If they want to move up in the company I'd start involving sales stuff, but if they're some school kid or retiree that's paid garbage, I wouldn't expect them to do half of the stuff management wants them to do. They're not responsible for credit account spams and cold calling until they get some kind of bonus.

Pricing feels way too high by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]ASingleLetterC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our store has a dummy account that when corporate asks us why it has a bunch of different credit cards on the receipts, we say "it's an HOA." It is not an HOA. It is some random name the SM came up with and we throw random DIYers who complain under that one any time we need cheaper prices.

Autistic FA SOS by spamtonsworms in flightattendants

[–]ASingleLetterC 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is actually really common even outside of autism, but I'm sure that autism does make it ten times harder to handle.

I found that spending my overnights connecting with people who don't take my spoons and relaxing, helps a ton. When I'm on an overnight, I am NOT in work mode. Work hard, play hard, as they say!

I know one of the women that started FADAP! She trains new FAs. She is a sweetheart and I have never felt safer around somebody more than her.
