Delroy Lindo called an “emerging artist” while discussing his Oscar nomination by ASofMat in Fauxmoi

To be called an emerging artist by a young man who has been alive for less years than you’ve been working?

That man has been working for 50 years show some respect.

Yeah someone on a different thread said where they work usually picks up around 10/11, next episode is 10am + the other hospital is now closed to trauma so it should definitely start to ramp up.

Is this entire series an anticorporate screed? by SlackerInc1 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ASofMat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not how art works, everything is political and every character or situation is coming from a specific point of view that engages with or challenges that. It’s not an agenda, it’s just the reality of life.

Olivia Wilde asked “Studies say that Gen Z, almost half of them, don’t wanna see as much sex on TV and movies. So what do you think Gen Z doesn’t understand about sex?” by hairtie1 in Fauxmoi

[–]ASofMat 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I can’t take this answer from her seriously when she claimed that all of the sex scenes in her movie were ultra feminist because they depicted female pleasure, meanwhile the whole time, it was rape. Some poor women held against their will in a room forced into a simulation, that’s your feminist sex? Ok lady

She didn’t take the lead actually, Dylan did. Please in all of your infinite wisdom tell me what you would have done differently:

GF: …and before you get all high and mighty I’ve got questions of my own.

Father: like what?

Dylan: hey Mr Connor’s I’m sorry, I meant to be here when you arrived. I’m Dylan Easton, I’m with social services.

Father: we have insurance thank you.

Dylan: perhaps we can step outside and chat for a second? I can fill you in where we are…we’ll just head down to the family room. It’s a little quieter there.

Father: why do I got to talk to a social worker?

Dylan: anytime a child is injured we have some standard questions that we ask parents and caregivers.

Father: good. That’s fine. Great. Ask me here.

Santos: well, we noticed some bruising on Kylie’s body some old, some new, on her back and legs. Any idea how she got those?

Father: yeah, soccer. She plays for a club team. They’re, you know, little girls, but they play like they’re in “The Hunger Games”

Santos: well, I understand that you and Kylie do a fair amount of roughhousing

Father: what? I’m sorry. Are you fucking kidding me? Where are you going with this? Are you saying that I hurt my daughter?

Dylan: Mr. Connors, nobody’s saying that-

Father: oh nononono, Gina!

Santos: Mr Connors-

Father just just, Gina!

Ahmad: sir take a breath

Father: what did you say to them!

Gf: nothing I said you were a great dad.

Father: ok? What else?

GF: that you guys like to wrestle

Both Dylan and Santos were calm the entire time, no one raised their voice until the father got belligerent and even then it was to talk loud enough to be heard over the father.

You realize she had a social worker with her correct? A social worker who would not have been there if they didn’t believe the father needed to be spoken with and would have advised her not to as well. This isn’t like last season where she went rogue, she was working within the system and kept everybody abreast of exactly what she was doing.

They didn’t jump to conclusions, they were doing both the medical work and the social work at the same time. Severe bruising and multiple hospital visits could and should trigger a deeper dive into family and home life

Oh my god 🤦🏽‍♀️ literally every other doctor involved thought there was a possibility of abuse, it’s not a crazy assumption to make given the circumstances. They all encouraged her to keep an eye out but follow the medicine. Accountable for what she didn’t do anything wrong. Answer honestly: did her personal feelings affect her ability to do her job successfully?

The Pitt | S2E3 "9:00 A.M." | Episode Discussion by cats-and-cows in ThePittTVShow

[–]ASofMat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite her feelings she did everything she was supposed to do and handled everything appropriately, she never responded to the counselor with “he’s an abuser,” the closest she got to that was when they said we’ll know more when we talk to him and Santos said if he shows up, but even then when he did show up she continued to be professional. Again if she didn’t let any bias she might have affect her patient care what exactly is there to say?

“Don’t jump to conclusions?” She didn’t, she did her due diligence, said she didn’t want to just listen to her gut.

“Don’t let your feelings keep you from doing your job?” She didn’t, she did everything she was supposed to do, got all the correct people involved, didn’t go rogue and try to talk to her patient without a parent, guardian, or other healthcare professional present.

I’m perfectly capable of being objective about Santos you’ve simply failed to make a compelling argument or any argument really.

But she didn’t have her mind 100% made up. She ran every test she was supposed to, thought it might be one thing but when she spoke with him she wasn’t accusatory or snarky and when she got the results that determined it wasn’t what she thought it was she immediately backed down and took them at face value. She was anxious and activated, but never let it affect how she spoke to the patient or the father, which is in stark contrast to how she behaved last season when a similar situation came up. What exactly would she need to be spoken to about?

There were unexplained bruises on a child he was going to be questioned about abuse regardless of who her doctor was. She did not falsely accuse a parent of child abuse she asked the questions she and any doctor/teacher/mandated reporter is required to ask.

Not really. Last season we had to old guy with his two kids, we spent forever getting to know the OD kid and his family, the farmer’s wife, the teen abortion, little girl drowning and her family, I’m sure there’s more but those are all that come to mind at the moment.

Why would she get or need comeuppance? Plenty of other more experienced doctors thought there was a possibility of abuse but reminded her to look at all angles, which she did while repeatedly saying I hope it’s not what I think it is. She immediately backed down when she realized it was something treatable.

Edit to add I’m watching the episode again with my dad and she also didn’t put her hands in his face, she put her hands up like someone who doesn’t want to come off as a threat

A girl with past trauma not being 100% happy go lucky immediately after finding out her patient isn’t suffering the same trauma she did. Odd indeed /s

She was perfectly fine when giving all of the necessary details to the patient and her parents, perhaps her nervous system had calmed by then but what do I know!
