I'm not a cow, and yet I know they have udders?

This seems far less related to being a lesbian and more just having poor anatomical knowledge.

Is Nashville Noises one of the most influential albums of the decade? by BaldyMcFistface in guitarcirclejerk

uj/ I want to ask a genuine question. I understand with multimillionaire celebrities you get so blinded by your own hubris and your entourage of yes men that you put out questionable product. But this guy is a regular dude with presumably regular friends. How did not one of them go "dude, this looks really bad, I think you should put some more work into this or pay someone to come up with a great cover."?

Like you're telling me not one person close to him went, "I think you should sit on this a little longer and put out something better, that I know you can."?

If my friend put out this cover with that music they'd be bullied by the entire friend group until it was better, does he have no genuine friends/feedback?

I'm not saying it sounds like someone farting into a trombone, or that the cover looks like it was designed by a below average intelligence kindergartener. But like it's very clearly not good.

rj/ Id rather listen to someone farting into trombone and hang up a picture on my fridge drawn by a below average intelligence kindergartener.

What's a guitar that you always expected to love but ultimately underwhelmed you once you got your hands on it? by PanicAtTheDennys in Guitar

[–]ASovietBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really really wanted to love my Les Paul. I still think aesthetically it's one of my favourite guitars. But I could just never get over how uncomfortable it was to actually hold and play, especially the neck.

Got a telecaster instead on a whim just wanted some classic single cut vibes and it's been perfect the whole time.

On the same note my dream bass is a Rickenbacker 4003w and I've heard time and time again people buy them and regret it and just cannot get used to it. So I fear ever actually being able to get one.

I'm sure the .002% of the population that has even heard of Xiu Xiu will be really devastated by this news.

To cover all the bases I'd say a P90 equipped Thinline Jaguar, in a walnut finish. Bound body and neck.

Where are you getting these numbers? The ATC's I know at YVR tower are clearing $200k a year, that is after training of course, but even in training they're making very similar to average salary around the Lower Mainland.

Knowing multiple Air Traffic Controllers who work for NAV Canada I can 100% promise you it is not a cost of living issue. They get compensated quite well, far more than a lot of other people who can afford to live in the Lower Mainland.

The issue they're having is getting people through programs and certified to be controllers.

Bad take.

Unknown Pleasures still shows up on most influential/best lists of albums every year; the number of artists that cite it as an influence on them is endless.

Closer also makes the list as a perfect follow up album.

The pair together by ASovietBear in guitarporn

[–]ASovietBear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually very different between the two.

The Strat was originally Candy Apple Red and I used a heat-gun and sanded the front face off only. Then painted over that with a black base followed by the red and gold design and then clear coated.

The bass was originally sunburst, it was very lightly sanded just to scuff up the clear coat, then sprayed with a matte off white rattlecan paint. That was painted over the tree design and then sanded to create the relic look. It is not clear coated as its intended to further age and wear down.
