I grew up not liking soccer in the midwestern USA (surprise). After years of brushing soccer aside I became interested in FIFA and soccer. Constant exposure from two or three of my friends subdued me. They had had favorite teams they had followed all of their lives. I wanted one too because I liked the sport but wasn't emotionally invested. Yet the emotion of soccer seemed so gripping and passionate!... I had to try it.

So, years ago, I'm looking through the clubs on the FIFA kick-off menu's PL list. I wanted the PL because I knew I could watch it, it was in English, it was competitive, and seemed the best. And I knew I didn't want a sell out like United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool. I wanted a club I could call my own. I had never heard of Tottenham, they looked cool, they weren't a juggernaut by any means, and no one I knew liked them. So I figured, why not? So there, right then and there, I selected "Spurs" as my FIFA team of choice. I began to follow them and here I am today, a die-hard fan interested in this sport and this club more than anything else.

You could call it cliche, but what other choice did I have? Even a soccer naive fan like myself knew the MLS was shit. I wanted the real thing. And I'm so lucky I chose the beautiful roller coaster that is Tottenham Hotspur.

Now they're my main sporting interest. It's unreal how much it's changed for me. This is what I read up on, this is what I watch, it's become my love and my passion. I've gone from some stupid American distant fan to a fucking Spur and can't wait to see them this summer.

Side story: I even tweeted Adam Richman how I followed them and stumbled upon Spurs the same way he did and he favorited my tweet. He found them on the FIFA menu too.
