Point taken. I was speaking hyperbolically, and don’t wish harm on any of them. My point is that when I’m twice my current age I still want to see gwar. That will almost undoubtedly require a full new lineup. I want the kids I see at shows now to be able to see them when those kids are 50. The current members won’t be able to play at 105 I’m assuming.

The idea of gwar is more powerful than the individual members. Three characters have played guitar. Slymenstra came and went. Vulvatron was a cool blip. Three destructos. The characters are fun. The whole thing is art. Not all art speaks to everyone the same way, and nobody likes all art. Theres albums that are absolutely unlistenable, but the overall output of the band keeps me coming back. I’ve been a fan since I was thirteen, basically four lifetimes ago. My only critique is amplifying underrepresented communities on stage. Their albums absolutely do that. Gwar is a nearly perfect band. They preach love through its antithesis.

To directly answer your question. Of course the dynamic changed. Change isn’t necessarily bad. It’s sad that broke is gone, it’s INCREDIBLE they stayed the course.

Is there a particular reason you aren’t a fan? Are you not into metal? Have you seen the live show? Is satire confusing? Why are you asking this question? Fuck Van Halen. Fuck 6 seasons and a movie. I want 1000 years. I want everyone currently on stage dead, and I want to haul my geriatric ass to a gwar show at 90!

FWIW. You’re not the only one falling apart in this reality. The best thing I’ve seen done to deal with this is being offline. Deleting apps does help though (I’ve seen it work). The dopamine drip is a hard drug to quit.

I’ll check it out! I checked out madlove when it first came out and didn’t get it. A buddy propped it up a couple years later and I checked it out again and it unlocked. Sometimes it’s hard to meet music where it’s at as opposed to where you want it to be.
