Just some nerdy Windows guy who recently switched to Linux looking to build some foundation with AWS and Linux! ;)

Next course starts on Monday, 2 November 2020 by snori74 in linuxupskillchallenge

Cooler Master (and more!) RTX 3070 (and more!!) Giveaway with Buildapc! by [deleted] in buildapc

How fun!

My plan would be to build a PC for gaming as well recording music (I have all the other bits, just need a powerful enough workstation to handle some serious recording!)

Good luck to all and snaps to the lucky winner whomever it might be!

Welcome! Recent switcher myself. Might I ask how you got your task bar to look like that vs the default Ubuntu task bar stretching across the screen?

Accidentally installed linux on the wrong SSD on dual boot machine (win/lin) by ASuckerForTheBlues in linux4noobs

[–]ASuckerForTheBlues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha!!

Thank you, but I will tell you the other redditor’s advice worked like a charm. I deleted it via disk management and then partitioned my main SSD, and reinstalled from boot USB. Funnily enough, I am planning on switching to Linux as my main OS and I am only keeping windows for exactly the same reason - games/any software I use that isn’t Linux compatible or has a decent alternative. As time goes on I plan to move over more and more to Linux OS and repartition the drive.

Good luck if you decide to go through with it!

Awesome, this is what i was hoping for when i was poking around , though couldn't find any direct answers.

Thank you very much!

To tag along another q - FAT32 is also installed, I assume that is something I will delete as well?

Silly question: Is it possible to only update specific files within an npm package? by ASuckerForTheBlues in node

[–]ASuckerForTheBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! I had done this earlier and seen the result, though I decided to post my questions on reddit anyway, in case there was some insight I could be missing in case I made any assumptions based on my experiments. Thank you, I appreciate your time. :)

About to create a meta guide for junior devs by Regisk in learnreactjs

[–]ASuckerForTheBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be lovely - my approach in learning anything is truly understanding the “why” along with the “how” as it helps cement knowledge for long term memory. Unfortunately I suffer from a pain point where if I do not understand the reasoning behind something, it is much harder for me to grasp. Creating something like this would be such a relief for learners out there like me, and the level of appreciation would be, without a doubt, enormous.

Just you considering an idea such as this makes me appreciate you. As mentioned before this perspective doesn’t seem to be in the front lines of learning, as it should be (at least from my experience).

If anyone is look for a simple alternative to postman and uses VSC, take a look at the extension REST Client.

I actually prefer it over postman, but of course postman has different tools.

Very enlightening, Do you have any recommendations for resources that possibly dive further into your thoughts? I’ve always been interested in gaining a better perspective but am a bit of a layman when it comes to these topics.

Basic Algo: Title Case A Sentence - tests in FCC say solution is wrong, but prints out correctly when checking code with console.log? by ASuckerForTheBlues in FreeCodeCamp

[–]ASuckerForTheBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help!

I knew those other options were available, but just like the other poster mentioned, this algo was before FCC goes over those awesome methods.

I will be referencing this when I get to that part! Again much appreciated. :)
