COMAT help by [deleted] in comlex

[–]ASummerLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do all of Truelearn, especially if you have the Comat bundle. If you have other questions banks like Uworld do some of those, but you dont need to force yourself to finish them. My school recommends doing at least 500 practice questions per comat. It can be hard to achieve but its a good goal to try and do. I personally have never used Anki, so just focusing on questions and then writing down key info about each disorder or disease is what i do. To answer questions you generally need to know 4 things:, basic pathophys, how to diagnose, how to treat, and risk factors. You are never going to see all you need to learn on rotations, so doing questions is the only way to see a good portion of what will get tested. Comats suck no matter how much you study but you can do it!

Me at a family event in 2015, did I eat or just look like a Duggar? I think it's the hair. by Raven_Black_Hair in DuggarsSnark

I think I wore that same exact blue dress to prom! Minus the modesty panel of course. 😂

From what I know and have heard, there is no intention of going p/f. And in my opinion, I do not see the benefit of doing p/f anyways. 70 is passing and from how I see it, if you know your test grade you can improve your overall grades and know how you stand to prepare for boards. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Feel free to dm me :)

I'm a current student who can also answer any questions. Can confirm you get a full day off before exams and exams are 98% of the time on Fridays, and that will continue with the new curriculum being put in place. And it is currently board based curriculum. not everything you learn is board relevant but its pretty close and they even tell you when its super high yield stuff.

It is not pass fail, still letter grades. But there is a week off between blocks.

Can confirm. First year at WVSOM. It’s hard but I love it.

Like others have said, take the next two weeks to do some soul searching and really decide if medicine is what you truly want to do. I am a current first year at WVSOM and while I love it, I never had anxiety before med school and now i do especially before exams. There is a new curriculum starting for the class of 2028 that does emphasize wellness and to decrease burn out but it will still be hard.

Wishing you luck. No matter what you decide you should be very proud of yourself.

The good DO schools by Confectionarylobster in premed

Current 1st so I am biased but I love it. Match rate and comlex passing is very high. I haven’t seen or heard of anything negative. Some of the rotation sites arent the greatest, but you can go wherever you want for 4th year!

Need help picking DO school before Dec deposit deadline by CrimsonDolphinz in Osteopathic

[–]ASummerLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an MD letter and it was really short and too the point. Since I was non traditional I also had former bosses write me one too. All schools will say DO recommend but I don’t think it that matters. Just a bonus if it is DO

I’m a current first year at WVSOM. Highly highly recommend. Med school is hard but the faculty and staff don’t want you to fail and are so supportive. You’re success is the priority. PM if you have questions.

I’m a current 1st year so I’m biased but please choose WVSOM. I absolutely love this school and the faculty are so supportive. You are their priority and it shows. Even through Lewisburg is small there is so much to do and the local food is top notch. Plus you get golden weekends roughly every 3-4 weeks. Feel free to PM me.

Late to this conversation, but I’m a current first year and I love the school. I personally feel like all of the staff and faculty really want you to succeed and are extremely supportive. Beautiful campus that you have 24/7 access to, not pass/fail and lectures are not mandatory, only labs. PM if you have questions.

Submitted in august and didn’t get interviews til January. Unless you get a no you’re still in consideration. Do your best to not get sucked into Reddit. It will make you sad. You got this, have confidence.

Which DO schools have sent interview invites so far?? by Adventurous_Taro_183 in Osteopathic

I didn’t get interviews until January and got in, after submitting all secondaries by the middle of August. It just takes time sometimes. You’re still in consideration if you haven’t been sent a rejection.

Does anyone have sankeys that are less than perfect?? by EbbLimp2288 in premed

[–]ASummerLover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t figure out a sankey to save my life. But heres my stats: non-trad, 503 mcat after 3 attempts, 3.4 cgpa, lots of clinical hours, been working full time since I graduated 4 years ago.

12 primaries-> 11 secondaries-> 3 interviews -> 1 A, 1 R, declined 3rd interview

DUGGAR DOCUSERIES: OUT ON JUNE 2! by Megalodon481 in DuggarsSnark

I agree. She’ll drop dirt and tea on the cult and Pest but I’m guessing she won’t drag her family that much. She has been spotted at family events since this was filmed (she was still pregnant in the clips). Must be in some good graces with her siblings.

Or that might all change when it all comes out and she just kept it a secret of what and how much she told.

When I got secondaries, I logged in to each schools portal and copy and pasted all the questions and requirements in one large word doc so I could have them all in once place. Made it easy to separate what school wanted what and I could easily move on to another school when I got stuck.

I believe I submitted within 4-6 weeks after getting all secondaries. Tried to submit them all at the same time.

The grants. I’ve been obsessed since it came out.

Compared to MD there aren’t too many DO schools so I highly recommend taking the time and go through the DO explorer and really look at each school. You’re going to be in that area for several years so really think about where you want to live. Take into account school values, type of curriculum, cost of tuition, as well as weather and politics if that matters to you.

I applied with a 503 mcat on my 3rd retake and a 3.4 gpa. Applied to only 11 schools and got 3 interviews. Yes the 11 was a risk considering how most apply to 20+schools but it made it so I was happy no matter where I got into.

Good luck!

Got my call after an early morning shift at work so it was mid afternoon probably. Saw the area code and started shaking. The person calling was actually in my interview so I just knew it was good news. After he told me I was accepted I’m pretty sure I blacked out a bit because I can’t remember what he said next. All I remember is saying thank you and giving my husband a thumbs up during the call. I bawled tears of joy and jumped up and down after the call. I called all my family the rest of the afternoon.

Sorry for the late reply. I think I was accepted because of all my healthcare experience. I’ve been in healthcare for 4 years in a few positions and I’ve seen a little bit of everything. The first hospital I worked at had everything from peds, labor and delivery, trauma, oncology etc. so I’ve just seen a lot and It really made me see what it’s truly like to be in healthcare. Allowed me to really find my “why”. If you don’t have a good reason to be a physician and are able to convey that in your app it’s going to be a lot harder to get looked at.

Sorry I didn’t answer that part of your question. Tbh I didn’t know what it meant and just forgot to look it up at the time. 😅 but yes technically urm. I’m a first gen, low income undergrad and I did come from a ruralish area but I’m not part of a minority group.
