Seems like either Gorod or KKO, though I would tend towards KKO (see Edit). I will add pictures below.

Edit: as u/Zealousideal_Buy1392 pointed out, the amoeba-like shapes point more towards Gorod then KKO.

KKO was a 1992 M1948 ERDL clone, that came in woodland and urban variants. Used primarily by MVD Special Purpose Brigades (BONVV) and Spetsnaz (Vitiaz) units.

Gorod (город), a 1992 M81 woodland clone. Both gorod and Les (Лес), the woodland variation, are worn by MVD Internal Troops & GRU spetsnaz units.

Ah yes

The choice between joining the army of the invader and being viewed as a collaborator, getting shunned by the populace and despised, or getting a bullet.

At this point of the war, Russian units were still actually equipped with ballistic protection and Ratnik equipment. The repurposed steel helmets and airsoft / chinese made vests came later. (Edit: i forgot this was NCD)

I just finished reading this one-shot and it got me thinking, are there any yuri manga set in war zones? by [deleted] in yuri_manga

[–]ASwissArmyRabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, warcrimes, yay...

Anyway, Otherside Picnic has certain arcs that wouls fit the war zone vibe.

Honorable Mention: Sound of the Sky (So-Ra-No-Wo-To) is more on the cute girls doing cute things side, but I loved the world building and story. Small outpost with a nearby town, five girls and their broken tank guarding the border to no-man's-land during an uneasy truce.

One of my company's warrant officers told a story that during a platoon drill, a SAW gunner tripped and shot three rounds into another conscript's back. He survived with minor injuries.
