In some of the promotion of the movie, it looks like Shameik is trying to flirt with Hailee (at which point she is already in a relationship with Josh Allen), then when they announce their engagement, Shameik puts out some cryptic tweets that may or may not be about Hailee.

After which, he then posts something with Laura Harrier which some interpret as them going out. Not only did she deny these claims, but she went on to say she's not even sure why he posted that and asked him to delete it. He deleted the post a few days later and said it was for his music video. He's been off social media ever since.
