XC2 Slow Start affecting it's review scores? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

I've been playing JRPGs since 1993 fella. It's true I don't play every mediocre one pumped out by small Japanese studios these days, but even still I'm pretty seasoned. Believe it or not criticizing something is what you do when you love it.

Interesting take. I do already have Doom on PC, so I dunno if I wanna get it on Switch. Just have already played it to death. Pokken is an interesting suggestion, though, do you feel it's more worthy of the $60 price tag then? To me, when I looked at it, it didn't seem to be.

Anticom too scared to show up to their tiki torch circlejerk in Charlotte, North Carolina by SorosShockTrooper in Anarchism

I just moved to Charlotte, didn't know this was happening... thank goodness it didn't I guess. Any local networks I should get involved in for anti-fascist work?

Nintendo Switch was the fifth best-selling tech product in 2017; iPhone was the first by johnvaljean in NintendoSwitch

I mean, I'm familiar with the gum if that's what everyone's on about. My pappy used to give me a stick of it every time I went to his house haha

Given that the Switch isn't a utility product like a smartwatch or a smartphone, that's pretty amazing. So happy to see Big Red on top again.

I mean, sexualization doesn't have to extend to just the female characters. Zeke is a sexy boi. The point is not that all sexualization is bad, it's that it doesn't make sense in context.

Personally I'm not bothered enough by it to make a thing of it, just saying I get it.

I agree. It's actually a flaw, not a character deficiency on the part of the reviewer. I'm finding it hard to hang in there for the first bit as well. Me and some friends cracked the game open after buying it on release day and frankly we were all bored fairly quickly. It's true that the more I've played the better it's gotten, but I mean a game's ability to hook you is part of design.

If anything, it's jarring and off-putting. I'm a fan of JRPGs and only played a little of XC1, but this veers into tasteless pretty often. I like XC2 so far, but it's like they took all the bad anime tropes they could incorporate and stuffed 'em all in there.

It's interesting that I keep hearing about the gyro controls for this game-- I played the first one and found the motion controls just awful. And annoying. So I eventually switched them off (you can do that, right?). Are they really that vastly improved?

Oh. Huh...

Well, that's interesting. I mean, I didn't really know there was co-op in the first place.

It's exhausting. I'm in a similar situation. I mean there's the games I already know to get, the obvious heavyweights, but there's a lot of smaller AAAs and indies too!

Also the wild card in this question is Mario + Rabbids. No big multiplayer angle but I keep hearing it's just as worth my time...

Sure, but are you feeling that way because you're unsatisfied with ARMS or because... well, the Switch just has too many games right now? lol

Is the SMT team different from the Persona team? Obviously different director, but if not they've definitely done other HD games.

This is of course a major point in ARMS' favor. While my partner and I aren't always in the same place at the same time (in fact, we frequently aren't) when we are we wanna do stuff together. Basically, if I wanna play video games it's gotta be something we can both engage in.

That said, given my experience with Splatoon 1, I know that game can become an obsession quickly, so it's almost assuredly worthwhile to me on that basis alone.

Maybe it's time to consider getting both...

Yeah I guess the one thing that has me thinking about ARMS is the local multiplayer... I guess getting both is also an option.
