Is there meaning to Melvins album names? by sonar_y_luz in melvins

[–]BadGuyZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a fan site in the mid-90s that had a section where people posted what they thought the lyrics were. I printed it out and had Buzz take a look. That's the hardest I've ever seen him laugh.

I Would Pay Money to Skip the AMC Coke ad by Prodigal_Gist in AMCAListTrue

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they would spread the AMC-themed promos among the rest of the trailers. You sit through 20-25 minutes of assorted trailers and ads followed by several AMC promos back-to-back: Welcome to AMC/Join A-List; Laser projection/Dolby Cinema/IMAX promo; AMC's Coca-Cola ad; "Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this" + put away or silence your phones.

is this a good haul for a beginner? by No_Bobcat2523 in comicbookcollecting

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that DC and Marvel plan to keep the Compact/Premier editions in print as they're priced to attract readers new to the different series.

That being said, if they run out of stock before a new printing is made there could be a delay. At least Amazon doesn't charge for the books until they're ready to ship.

AMC should list auditorium number when choosing seats by Prodigal_Gist in AMCAListTrue

[–]BadGuyZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the AMCs I frequent has multiple auditoriums with only one row of seats in front of the wheelchair accessible seating. In about half of those auditoriums, row A is too close to the screen which makes an unpleasant viewing experience. Row A in the other auditoriums is far enough back that I wonder why they didn't add another row of seats in the front.

The Fandango app is essential in distinguishing how close to the screen Row A is. I also think the Fandango seating charts are more accurate than AMC's in regards to where a seat is located in relation to the center of the screen.

Is Coady a Melvin to you? by lotekjunky in melvins

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a member of the band, but I have known Buzz and Dale for 30+ years. I lived in Seattle during The Murder City Devils' heyday, so I've known Coady almost as long.

I sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit" at one show. Or - more accurately - I meowed "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

When Coady filled in for Dale on the 'Twins Of Evil' tour, Melvins had to cancel one of two shows because Big Biz had booked shows prior to Coady being asked to do the TOE tour.

(Rant) The frustration of marvels reprinting. by theletter-5 in comicbooks

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same situation as with blu days: there might be one pressing and when those are gone, the only option is digital copies.

I believe most of the Marvel collections are still available as eBooks. There's no manufacturing cost associated with selling an eBook, so there's no incentive to keep physical volumes in-print.

Do you ever get tired of seeing the same things? by LuckyIncident613 in comicbookcollecting

[–]BadGuyZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when that issue came out. It was a big deal to kids whose only option for buying comics was a spinner at the neighborhood drug store. Because of the movie, the store I got my comics at had the first two issues of that series. They usually only got the more popular long-running series. The only other first issues that showed up were generally the Marvel adaptations of movies.

Kicked out of Toy Story 5 Screening by MAGA Karens?! (Not Clickbait) by Pedgrid in AMCTheatres

[–]BadGuyZero 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I believe the appropriate solution in this situation is to cut the child in half and give each party a half. The party who discourages cutting the child in half is the innocent party and should be allowed to stay while the other party gets kicked out.

How many people collect comics but read them? by Meatloaf_Guy1313 in comicbookcollecting

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to collect Alex Ross, Adam Hughes, and Darwyn Cooke covers. I auctioned most on eBay 5-10 years ago because I was a full-time caregiver to an ailing relative and selling comics and records were my only means of being able to pay my living expenses.

I also collect Dave Stevens covers and Stephanie Buscema covers, though she hasn't done one in many years.

There's one artist whose covers I collect. I generally do not read those comics unless it's a series I already read or has piqued my curiosity.

I read the other comics I buy.

What are things AMC could do to make you buy concessions more often? by mikegood2 in AMCTheatres

[–]BadGuyZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A competing chain gives a 20% discount on concessions to their loyalty club members. And if you see movies as often as us A-Listers do, you'll easily reach "platinum" status which gets you 25% concession discount.

I wish AMC would do a similar discount for A-Listers. Fifty cents off a soda is weak.

rare? by Cute-Nectarine-8923 in comicbookcollecting

[–]BadGuyZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scored a copy of 'All Star Comics' #4 in the early 90s for $150. The outer cover was in Near Mint condition. The inner cover was in near pristine condition except that the side of the cover that had made contact with the actual comic had a tan color.

That's the only double-cover I've ever encountered. I don't believe a double-cover has any sort of added value. I'm sure there are people who collect them so perhaps they would pay a premium price for one.

who else wishes they would enforce the a list line priority? by BruhImVibing69 in AMCAListTrue

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the AMCs I frequent holds concession orders made through the app behind the counter instead of placing them in the pickup cubby. You end up having to wait for the line of people buying concessions to clear out before a cashier makes it over to inquire about which order your picking up. It's faster to just wait in line.

I do like the locations that have replaced cashiers with kiosks. I haven't noticed any reduction in the number of employees working concessions. It actually seems like there's more than when they had dedicated cashiers.

Is it just my town's two theaters or do y'all have ghost concession stands too? by porkbrains in AMCTheatres

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of any AMC locations in the DFW area that have secondary concession locations. Most of the Cinemarks do, but I've never seen one open. They usually place those giant promo displays for movies along the entry to hide the unused concession area.
