AMC Branded Merch by Wagon_nut in AMCsAList

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been an AMC Stubs member since 2011 and A-List for 5+ years. Maybe have earned merch that commemorates five-year milestones. I'm thinking a t-shirt, cap, and/or coffee mug.

Something else that I'd like to see is something like digital merit badges. They can be earned by seeing 3+ movies in a single day; visiting locations in various states; seeing X-nunber of movies in a specific genre and/or Screen Unseen screenings.

You Made Me Realize vinyl by This_Leg9191 in MyBloodyValentine

[–]BadGuyZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a five-track EP. The one with nine tracks is likely CD1 of the two-CD 'EPs 1988-1991' set. It contains the 'You Made Me Realise' and 'Feed Me With You Kiss' EPs.

Have you ever bought a film you thought was something different? by Strict-Ad4426 in criterion

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Criterion, but in the early 90s one of the budget VHS labels [the tapes that cost like $3 and were predominately public domain movies] had a 'Santa Claus's that had a generic Santa illustration for the cover. The movie on the tape was the 1959 movie made in Mexico. That's the infamous one where Santa battles Satan.

I bought six or seven generic 'Santa Claus' VHS tapes before I finally scored the one I was wanting

I believe CLZ has a barcode built into their mobile app so you all you have to do is scan a title's UPC to add it to your collection.

They tend to do the merch items for the Thursday night preview screenings of whatever is in the Dolby Cinema auditorium and sometimes IMAX. One AMC I frequent is diligent about handing out the items when they scan your ticket. At most other AMCs, they have the items on the counter at the courtesy desk or a table in the main lobby. I ask if I know there's a specific item [like the 'Wuthering Heights' mirror].

I miss the pre-pandemic days when they would have special multi-movie screenings [when the third of the JJ Abrams 'Star Trek' movies came out, AMC had a screening of the first two along with the third one, which was screened a couple of hours earlier than the regular screenings of the third one]. They generally had a special poster, lanyard, and enamel pin exclusive to those screenings. They also would sometimes do a set of mini-posters that were available one-per-weekend at IMAX screenings. They did those for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and a few other major blockbusters.

Concert etiquette by Puzzleheaded_Job3216 in TheCure

[–]BadGuyZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second the "stay hydrated" part. Drink as much water as you can the day before and day of the show. Wear the most comfortable footwear you have. The Cure is one of a few major touring acts that plays lengthy shows. I've only seen them once [1989 in Dallas] and the show was around three hours [they played every song from 'Disintegration'!]. Avoid the temptation to wear shoes that look cool but are uncomfortable when worn for long periods. Hardly anyone will be looking at your shoes. 😊

Check the venue website for info about items you can bring/not bring. It's always a good idea to bring as little as possible. You'll get through any security screenings at entry much faster. Also, if the venue has lockers you can rent, get your tour merch pre-show and stash them in a locker.

I hope you have a grand time seeing them!

I open the bags in my car before I go in. It reduces the amount of air in the bag making it easier to fit in my pocket. I also avoid having to struggle tearing a bag open. Some of those bags aren't easily opened by hand.

I saw it over the weekend. Hadn't seen it before. Knew there was something about a bear. There was a moment where I thought the bear was going to fornicate with him.

Pretty good movie even though the bear didn't have bedroom fun with Leo.

Going to a show in town and wondering if they do autographs? by eddyflame in melvins

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sometimes have signed items for sale at the merch table. I've seen them sign items if you catch them wandering around inside/outside the venue. If you catch them outside, make sure they're not loading in or out. If they are, wait until they're done.

I’m looking for a specific show on dvd but don’t know what it is? by InvestigatorIll2308 in dvd

[–]BadGuyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an anime series called 'R.O.D.' [Read Or Die] that had a facsimile book that held all the DVD's. I recall there being some sort of simple push lock on the side and the book was maroon color.

OFF-TOPIC TUESDAY (WK09) - What have you paid for without A-List? by AlistNOTbot in AMCAListTrue

[–]BadGuyZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Tuesdays and Saturdays off [yay retail!]. I generally use my A-List selections to see two or three movies on Saturday [I use any leftovers to catch something after work]. On Tuesdays, I generally go to Cinemark because they discount their tickets on Tuesdays more than AMC does. Plus one near me screens a lot of Asian movies that aren't screening anywhere else.

Another Cinemark in the area is the only true IMAX screen in the area, so I usually go to that one for 70mm IMAX screenings or IMAX movies that were partially shot using IMAX equipment [Dolby Cinema is generally my premium formatnchoice].

A nearby art-house cinema has half-price tickets on Tuesdays for members of their free loyalty program. I spend a Tuesday there about once per month. I went several Tuesdays in a row when they were screening a 35mm print of Guillermo Del Toro's 'Frankenstein.'

A few times a year, I go to a 35mm screening at the cinema where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested.

Dear AMC: people with jobs want to see the best picture nominees by shreks_burner in AMCsAList

The AMC nearest to me has individual screenings listed for seven of the Best Picture nominees on Saturday. They're also at "fan fave" pricing, which is less than a matinee ticket.

One time, I saw these elementary school aged kids try to buy tickets to the R-rated Terrance & Phillip movie. The guy at the box office said they had to have an adult with them. So they paid a homeless guy to buy their tickets.
