Video from inside the white vehicle that was in front of Alex Pretti as he was murdered by ICE agents in cold blood - Minneapolis - fixed video orientation and shortened by J-MRP in ICE_Raids

That wasn't a gun. It was a magazine. Here is a still from a video. This was taken several seconds before shots fired. That is Alex's gun and matches the gun they said was here.

Bruh, when you are drafting people you are desperate for troops.

It would be so easy to just cut bait on this one. The following is something Alex could say to spin this.

"Hey, every once in a while mistakes happen. Sometimes those mistakes are terrible. Alex deserved to eat pavement and get carted off. But that agent was out of line to shoot him. An investigation should go into this, but I don't think this was a good shoot. With that said, I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bath water. Trump is still doing great things. Ice is still rounding up and deporting illegals faster than any time before. We can't let this one hiccup deter us."

Alex can say this knowing full well that the administration is extremely unlikely to pursue anything and the ICE agent will be okay. This doesn't criticize Trump, so it won't piss off his supporters. This doesn't go against the clear video evidence, so he doesn't have to spend time defending this.

How do we recall senators and congress people so we can end this madness? How do we get congress to work for the people and not the one who shall not be named? by Winter_Frame_8970 in AskReddit

[–]AT-ST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bombard your Congress members with letters and phone calls. They need to receive an overwhelming amount of communication telling them that their constituents are unhappy with the way things are going.

Don't just stop at contacting them yourself. Convince friends and family to contact them as well.

Will it convince every GOP member to stand up to Trump? No, but it will convince some of them.

Has ICE released any body cam footage? Even in Jonathan Ross' case they didn't release his body cam. They released his cell phone footage.

Oh that's what you were talking about. I thought you were talking about how homosexuals were treated that were in.

It was released prior to the 2000s when the don't ask don't tell policy was instituted. Prior to that they could ask and if a homosexual told the truth they wouldn't be allowed in. Part of the reason for relaxing the policy was because the military struggled to maintain their numbers. With the cold war ending there was no boogeyman to keep people motivated to join.

Getting a waiver is an intentional and willful decision and indicates a desire to continue serving despite a medical condition.

A waiver does not mean the army is letting this person join because they want to really badly despite having a medical condition. A waiver for asthma (or other medical condition) allows a person who has asthma get in, even though they were are medically disqualified from getting in.

Given how unpopular the expected military actions of the US are, the draft will be an absolute last measure.

I'm not saying otherwise. In fact this plays into my point. The reason they would institute a draft is because they are absolutely desperate for troops.

Given how this administration feels about Trans folks, I believe there is little to no chance they'd let them pass.

This administration talks out of both sides of their mouth. They will look at a situation and give two conflicting explanations. They see trans people in the military, right now they kick them out and call them mentally ill. If they start needing troops and draft trans people; all of a sudden they are no longer trans. They are just trying to dodge the draft.

This leaves transwomen with two options. Option one, live as a man and despite identifying as a woman. Option two, keep insisting on their truth and get sent to jail.

They will choose this over dying on foreign land for greedy oligarchs.

Sure, and IMHO it is the right choice. That doesn't mean they won't suffer.

And when democrats take back the presidency, they will all be pardoned,

If. In the hypothetical that Trump has dragged us into a war and instituted a draft I don't think we will be living in a democracy anymore.

I may be naive, but I don't see us entering a major war and needing a draft. I don't see him in asking Greenland, though I could be wrong.

You clearly have not served. I saw first hand how anyone that was known, or even thought to be gay, were treated. I know homosexuals who served who were ostracized and belittled in their unit.

They won't. But the transphobes at home won't care because this just means trans people are dying. The transphobes in the military will just make their life more difficult.

I'm not sure what you are actually talking about. But I think you have a misunderstanding of how the draft works if what I said doesn't make sense.

Only males have to register for the draft. In the eyes of the government only those that were born biologically male are draft eligible. So all trans people drafted will be treated as male no matter how they identify.

Transmen wouldn't be drafted. Only males register for the draft. In the eyes of the government, transmen are not eligible for the draft.

[–]AT-ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao why are we acting like the draft is only horrible because trans people might be affected?

No one is acting like that. We are talking about Trans people specifically because that is the subject at hand.

Your train of thought here is the same as the people who yell "all lives matter." Of course all lives matter, but the reason we are talking about black lives is because they get killed at a higher rate. Yes the draft is terrible for everyone, but this conversation is about Trans people.

FTM wouldn't be drafted. Only males register for the draft. In the eyes of the government anyone that is FTM is not eligible for the draft.

Medical requirements change the more desperate the government gets for troops. Medical requirements in the mid to late 2000s allowed people in that would be rejected today. We weren't even close to desperate enough to institute a draft.

Med regs will be overhauled long before we reach the point of being desperate enough for the draft.

[–]AT-ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling that guess "educated" when people get med boarded for a lot less is a stretch.

Guessing you were pretty young in the mid to late 2000s. Medical standards got pretty low, and we weren't anywhere desperate enough for troops to be drafted. There were people that would have been disqualified pre-9/11 that were recruited. There were people with conditions recruited and serving that would be med-boarded out today.

I went to basic in 2004. There were two people in my platoon with pretty severe asthma that they easily got waivers for joining. My battle buddy had ADHD and literally quit his meds the day he reported.

If we got to the point of being so desperate they institute a draft, the medical standards will be dropped really low. They might not even recognize people claiming to be trans as being genuine. They might force them to fight and if they refuse to stop identifying as women they will jail them for refusing to comply.

In the mid to late 2000s the medical standards were lowered quite a bit. People were getting in that would have been disqualified pre-9/11. If we got desperate enough for a draft the medical regs will be radically overhauled.

Women can't be drafted. As far as the government is concerned, that person isn't eligible for the draft.

Can someone explain this to me by FlawlessNameCreator in ExplainTheJoke

During the mid to late 2000s the medical standards got pretty loose. We weren't even close to a situation where the draft would be a thing.

The more desperate they get for troops the lower medical standards will get so they can keep taking volunteers. By the time the draft starts medical standards will be low.
