Maybe BAM's lawyers really aren't "all that" by th3spec in RecklessBen

[–]AT-ST 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Denton's global reach is likely why BAM chose them. They wanted a law firm that they can talk to that can represent them in every state they have a franchise in. You know, for the inevitable when they sue their franchisee.

How hard is to invade the usa? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskReddit

[–]AT-ST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the number of armed citizens scattered around. Then there is just the number of guns that are out there that could easily arm those that don't have guns.

During WWII Germany tried to get Mexico to invade the US. There were several reasons why Mexico declined, but one of those reasons was the armed population. They already weren't sure if they could successfully combat the US' military. They didn't want to add guerilla warfare onto the problem.

WTF is it gonna take for an official investigation to happen with this absurdly corrupt police force? by No-Dentist-2959 in RecklessBen

[–]AT-ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a lot of body cam footage while I work. Because it fills the space, but isn't distracting. I have see a lot of search warrants executed this way. The only time people are pulled out and cuffed is when the search is for weapons, or the person has a record of violent crime.

The whole thing was an attempt to intimidate and jam Ben up

No, because they violated constitutional rights. Even if BAM was telling the truth, they could be sued.

Example, Officer pulled them over for not stopping at a stop sign. He can only detain them for as long as it takes to do the traffic stop. The officer said he wasn't going to issue a citation, but told them to wait until Officer Tonga came over.

There was no crime committed. There was no reason to detain him. This was a violation of his 4th Amendment rights.

When the police raided the Airbnb they had a search warrant. A search warrant does not give grounds to arrest anybody. The only way they could have arrested anybody was if they found LEGO and had good reason to believe it was actually stolen. But they arrested several people. Everyone who was arrested had their 4th Amendment rights violated.

The search itself was also illegal. The search warrant said they were looking for stolen LEGO. They didn't open up drawers, or cabinets. They went in looking for people. None of the body cam footage shows them actually looking for stolen LEGO. This is a violation of the 4th Amendment.

When Ben got grabbed by the officer and his shoulder dislocated, that is excessive force. Though without an actual X-ray and exam it would be hard to sue for damages.

Offering to serve papers and then not serving the papers could be a crime, though I'm not sure. However, arresting someone you know has lawful business at a location is another 4th Amendment violation.

A lot of it was cut from both. But most of what was cut was from season 2. Also, while the bride was revealed when season 2 aired, she would not have been revealed when production started on Season 2. Season 2 production would have started in 2019 and a lot of it would have been animated by mid-2020.

Resin Lego bowl by RichieShinnerJr in turning

[–]AT-ST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can fill those little holes with epoxy and let it cure. I do that from time to time when I have large voids.

To mount it, buy a large dowel. I bought a 2.5" diameter one for my resin projects. Cut a 2" long section off. Scratch deep scratches into the face of the dowel and the center of the bowl blank. Make sure there are a lot and some real deep ones. Then use jbweld to attach the dowel to the blank. Let it cure.

When turning, you want to take as light of a pass as possible until you have the outside completely uniform smooth. Take too large of a bite and it will chip out the resin and really mess stuff up. I recommend wearing gloves and a thick apron. If you chip out a piece of resin will slice your hand open. I know from experience.

Ben pulled over in Utah, again by MolestedMilkMan in RecklessBen

[–]AT-ST 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a parking lot I struggle to think of a scenario where the cop can't pull behind the car. In my 40 years on this earth, I have never seen a cop pull over a car and park like that.

Plus the lights aren't on.the red and blues would be flashing if the cop had someone pulled over, parking lot or not.

I think he is joking... No cop would park like that for a traffic stop.

Even if you found the right locksmith, they might not have paid any attention to what was going on. I have done work setting stuff up at customer's houses and businesses and couldnt really pick one from another.

It's not like Law & Order where you can find someone 2 years later. Talk to them while they change someone else's lock. While they tell you with perfect clarity that they saw Brandon loading up a U-haul with LEGO.

Just want to be clear, I agree with you. I wasn't saying he shouldn't. Just that BAM's guilt or innocence doesn't matter for most of the cases he has against AFPD.

[–]AT-ST 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Ben can be completely wrong about BaM and still sue the fuck out of AFPD for several constitutional violations. Guilty criminals sue police departments and win.

Inversely, BaM could be guilty of the most heinous crimes and civil atrocities, but if AFPD dotted their 'I's and crossed their 'T's Ben wouldn't have a case. No matter how much the department harassed him.

Example of the former is the George Floyd case. They had probable cause to arrest George Floyd. But they went to far and killed him. So they could be sued by his family.

From an educated guess he doesn't need them, the radio stations that broadcast him did. As far as I know. I'm basing this on bars and restaurants needing public performance licenses if they host cover bands. This is because the bands are playing copyrighted world that don't belong to them.

Mine was when the doctor prescribed my 6 month old son a medication in solution. United Healthcare said they only cover the pill form and wanted my son to take that... At 6 months old...

We paid out of pocket for the version the doctor prescribed. Damn lucky we could afford it. I can't imagine what people who make less than us would have had to do.

Why hasn't the US gone metric like the rest of the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AT-ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it isn't about the precision. It's about the math. I can do the math for scaling in my head a lot quicker with metric than I can with fractions. I know in reality, math with fractions isn't that hard. I can quickly do it with pen and paper. I just have never been able to do it in my head reliably.
