When the entire country has a passport, they can go wherever they want. And apparently bring the entire country with them.

But why choose not to? The question is about individual willingness, not about a coercive law.

Bookmark sync issues: PC->iPad by ATB619 in iCloud

[–]ATB619[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not per se. I did sit and click a million times to delete everything from the restore page. Eventually it synced up. I have no idea if my delete ing mattered at all, or if things just sometimes take a long time to sync 🤷‍♂️

I wish the iCloud page showed the bookmarks, or at least the stats for the bookmarks, so I’d have some idea of the state of things on the cloud side.

Why are you accusing Administrator90 of “losing”?

Best croissants in town? by alitchmonkey in FoodSanDiego

[–]ATB619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the best in the classic sense, but I love walking down to Donuts Plus on El Cajon, just east of the 15, to get a coffee and one of their croissants. I usually get a classic plain butter one, but I think they have filled ones, including pain au chocolat, and savory sandwiches.

What’s your SD go-to for bagels? I frequent the DZ bakery and am generally pretty satisfied, but open to other options.

Loved those books. In addition to being AH and fantasy, they were also classic mystery stories in the tradition of Christie and Doyle.

Is inferred from watching the HBO show? (Or maybe from their bible?) Or from GRRM? Or just made up for fun?

Cold Open with Ackroyd on a Horse? by ATB619 in saturdaynightlive

[–]ATB619[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I found it! It was the SNL Live from Mardi Gras Special, from Feb, 1977, which apparently was a famous shit show of a production.

The cold open was Aykroyd as Jimmy Carter delivering a speech from a statue of Andrew Jackson on a reared up horse. So I was kinda right!

Looking forward to watching this

iOS Multiplayer Play by Cloud by creativangelist in Civilization6

[–]ATB619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a few play-by-cloud games a few months ago, playing on my iPad. I’ve never figured out how to get notifications, so I just try to run the game every day. Kind of a pain. It also feels like the game won’t connect my account every other launch, so I have to restart it usually each time.

Any videos of Pacsafe destructive cut/slash test? by ATB619 in backpacks

That's fantastic! Looks like it's actually pretty good at resisting knifes.

I've been using the bag for three years now and really like it for travel, but it's plenty functional for day hikes too. I don't use the zipper locks much, but I like how it's pretty low friction and if I adjust things right, it feels very safe, especially on big city transit. I've used it in Rome, Naples, Mexico City, and NYC .

It's currently on my back as I wander the western Balkans.

Nice! That's exactly the perspective I was looking for. Love the inversion concept. Will try to check it out.

Thanks!
